Part 4
Arabella's POV
Before you ask, yes this is my house. My parents are rich, my dads a world top pathologist and my moms an Anesthesiologist. So this is my house, I'll show you around a bit later.
"I'm home" I shout walking into the house. "Not that anyone particularly cares." I say whispering under my breath to myself.
"Me too." Shawn says, closing the front door and putting his car keys in the front. "Also I heard that, and I care that you're here." He says making me roll me eyes.
"Hi darlings, how was school?" my mom asks walking into the room.
"The usual." Shawn says hugging her.
"I got into a paint fight with Tom." I said smiling, remembering what happened in the art class earlier this morning.
"That's good sweetie." She says before continuing to ask Shawn about other things, causing me to roll my eyes.
See what I live with?
I walk upstairs and walk straight to my room and immediately start doing my homework because otherwise it just won't happen.
So this is my room. I know it's big, I don't exactly like it being so big. It feels quite lonely, but I'm grateful for the room I have.
Also if you open the gate near the brown couch, I've got a little closed off area. It's mostly where I read and draw in private.
"Hey kiddo." I hear Shawns voice come from the door as he smiles, before walking over to sit on the grey couch opposite me.
"You know, I'll never understand why you have such a big room, filled with couches and beanbags and your chill area, yet you still choose to sit on the floor." He chuckles.
"It's easier to do my homework." I say, not looking up from my English books that are spread across the floor.
"Well I just wanted to catch up, how was your last first day of high school." He asks, leaning his arms on his knees.
"The usual." I say, repeating his answer from earlier.
"So who's your new friend." He asks me.
"Tom Styles." I say still not looking up. "I thought you met him in the holidays."
"I wasn't here most of the time, remember? Well he seems like a good guy. You know I'm friends with his brother?" He asks.
"I do." I say looking up at him.
Shawn sat with me, just keeping me company while I finished my homework.
"Okay, well I'll see you at supper kiddo." He says standing up and walking towards the door and I just nod to him.
"Oh and football practice starts on Monday after school. Just thought you'd like to know because I'm your lift home." He smiles, leaning back peeping into the room.
"Yeah great, looking forward to staying at school for longer than necessary." I say sarcastically.
"You love it." He says winking and laughing before leaving the room.
As soon as he left, I went to my cabinet, grabbing my sketchbook and going to sit in my chill area, closing it behind me.
"Arabella Mae, dinner is ready." My mom calls from downstairs, causing me to look at my watch.
"Hi darling, what have you been up to?" My dad says kissing me on the head, coming to sit at the dinner table.
"Just drawing." I answer, knowing that only my dad cares, my mom being uninterested in my 'useless' hobbies.
"Ooh what'd you draw?" Shawn asks with wide eyes.
Besides my dad, Shawn has always supported me and has been interested and always appreciated my talents.
"You." I say smiling at him.
"You have to show me!" Shawn exclaimed.
"After supper Arabella." My mother scolds, confusing me as I did nothing and Shawn looks at me with pity in his eyes while I roll my eyes back at him.
The four of us sat at the dinner table, talking about Shawns second college year and about how he's captain of the football team.
Like I said, I'm here to show you around. I mean don't take it personally, but it's not like I have anything better to do (gestures towards my parents)
So this is where we're currently seated, while I sit listening to my parents obsess over my elder brother.
"Any boyfriends?" Someone asks bringing me back to reality.
"What?" I said choking a bit. Shocked that my mom is paying attention to me at the table and not ignoring me for Shawn.
"I asked if you have any boyfriends?" My mom asks, while Shawn looks at me sympathetically.
"Well Tom's my friend, and he's a boy." I shrug trying to avoid the awkward conversation.
"Oh okay, how about you? How's Chloe, the one with the brown hair? Oh isn't she just gorgeous honey!" My mom asks, making my eyes to widen while Shawn coughs nervously.
"Mom we aren't together anymore." Shawn states.
They were together.
"May I please be excused." I say, still looking down.
"Of course kiddo." My dad says patting my back.
I stand up, taking my plates to the kitchen before making my way up to my room.
"Kiddo." I hear Shawns voice.
"I don't want to hear it Shawn." I say back to him, while I walk back up to my room, sitting on my bed.
"Please." He begs again.
Okay, just listen to me before you say anything .
In primary school, Chloe and I used to be best friends along with Mackenzie and Adley, weird, I know right. Anyways, the one day I took my sketch book to school, to show Adley and Mackenzie what I drew for them, but then when Chloe found out, she got irritated. Stupid thing to start bullying someone over right? I know.
It hasn't changed since then. Actually scratch that, she's definitely gotten worse.
I decide to stay quiet and wait for him to explain or say whatever he wants to before assuming the worst.
"Chloe and I were not together." He states while looking me dead in the eye.
"Yeah, well then why would mom say that?" I question him further.
"I hooked up with her." He says slowly, looking for my reaction, and receives it when my eyes widen in shock.
"How could you do th-" before I could finish, Shawn cut me off.
"It was a mistake Bella. I was drunk and I know I shouldn't have been, but we were all drunk, so none of the guys were there to snap me out of it and I may have had one drink too many. The only reason mom thinks we are or were together, is that she showed up at the house while I was out with the guys. She told her that we were together which was obviously a lie." He explains.
"When was this?"
"Few months before summer break." He says softly.
"Shawn, that was so long ago! I thought we told eachother everything." I said angrily.
"Yes, yes I know, but it was a mistake, it was never supposed to happen and I didn't tell you because I knew it would upset you, like it is now." He states calmly.
"I thought she was dating your friend though? So she cheated on him with you?" I say, really hoping I don't get the answer that might leave his lips.
"They are." He says making my eyes widen, "but they were not together at the time, I swear."
"Not that I was hoping to hear that you slept with the worst person ever, but I was hoping you weren't going to tell me you turned into some cheater." I say smiling while he laughs.
"So how about you show me my drawing." He says changing the subject.
"I look good." He says smirking, causing me to burst out laughing.
