Over a century ago, beings that prey on humans suddenly appeared. Their absolutely overwhelming strength quickly pushed humanity to the brink of extinction. The surviving humans constructed three walls: Maria, Rose, and Sina, which brought them a century of peace. However...

Third Pov.

"Till that time I had been a wretched soul, and wholly giv'n to greed! Now, as thou see'st, I'm punished for it here! What avarice doth is here made manifest, in this purgation of converted souls! Nor hath this Mount a penalty more bitter!" A priest yells out.

     A women runs into a corner and is trapped. She's crying and out of breath. She covers her mouth so she won't let the Titans know that she's there. But it was too late a Titan spotted her and picked her up by her head. She screamed "Stop! Let me go!"

     "O Avarice! Thou hast to thyself so drawn my race, that ev'n for its own flesh it careth not! What more canst thou do with us?!" He then stopped for a second because there was a Titan in front of him. The Titan grabbed him and slowly put him in the Titan's mouth. "O Avarice! Thou hast to thyself--" He was eaten by the Titan and the book he was holding in his hand fell.

Back To You~

You were still traumatized by your mother's death. The soldier was still carrying you to the gate. Dry tears were at your eyes, the dark memory of your mom still passes through your head, and even more hatred towards the Titans. "Hurry! To the inner gate! Escape aboard the boats there! Hurry! Before you get eaten!" A soldier says to the remaining people that are still in the city, running away from the Titans. "Hurry bring her to the boat." The soldier says to the one that's carrying you. "On it." He replies back.

     Then names started appearing in your head. 'Eren...Mikasa...Armin...' You pulled your head up and tried to get out of the soldier's grasp. You kept squirming and kicking. "What are you doing, (Y/N)?" "We have to go back." "Why would you-" "My friends Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are still there. We have to go back and make sure they're coming to the inner gate." You said to him. "We aren't going back. The Titans will consume us before we even find them!" He said to you while running to the inner gate. You kept moving around, trying to break free. But nothing.

City districts like Shiganshina that stick out in vital spots along the wall serve to attract the Titans and streamline security costs and troop numbers. Performing true to its role as a Titan target, Shiganshina had but one inner gate through which its citizens could flee.

"Discard your belongings! Let as many people as possible!" He yelled out. You got carried on the boat and been placed down by the soldier who carried you here. He then ran back to the gate to stop the Titans from coming towards us. You then got up and looked around the boat to see if any of my friends are still on the boat. You kept pushing people out of the way until you saw people screaming out in fear when the boat was moving and there were still people trying to get on, some were even jumping to the boat. You kept moving until you found Eren and Mikasa. You were about to call out in joy till you saw the Eren's face, he must've been traumatized by something. "Eren! Mikasa!" You called out so they here you. They turned their heads to look at you.

Eren Pov.

'She's alive!' "(Y/N)." I was about to go up to hug her, but then heard a loud thump. We all looked up to see what's happening. I knew it was the Titan, because of him...many people die, and many will soon die. I kept hearing more loud stomps. 'He's coming this way?!' I thought to myself. Then the Titan made a huge hole in the wall, he then opened his mouth and hot steam started coming out.

Within hours of the fall of Shiganshina on the south side of Wall Maria, news of the incident had reached every city inside human territory.

Third Pov.
"South Side Of Wall Rose"
"Trost Direct"

"Is it true the Titans have overrun Shiganshina?! I can't believe this. The walls have held strong for a century! Why now?! Whether believe it or not, the fact that refugees have fueled here by boat!" "Reports say that there are five hundred on board." "The question is if Shiganshina is all that was affected..." "But, surely they couldn't have gone through Wall Maria as well?" "In any event, we must contact the central government and request instructions. This crisis is far too much for us to handle on our own." The man nodded in agreement. Then someone barged in the room. "I'm sorry to interrupt! A courier horse has just arrived! Titans have breached Wall Maria and entered its interior!" Everyone was shocked by this.

Back at the boat~

You were sitting next to Mikasa and you heard what people were saying in great fear. "The Titans are going to devour humanity again..." One man said. 'This is the end...' You thought to yourself while tears were at the corner of your (E/C) eyes. 'everything back at home, will be gone forever...I won't see the house, my mom just died right in front of me...and my dad is missing...' Your thoughts were interrupted by Eren getting up and walking towards the edge of the boat.

     "I'm...going to..." You heard him say. You and Mikasa stood up. "Eren." She said. Then Armin got up and grabbed his shoulder. "What's gotten into you, Eren?" Eren yanked his arm away from Armin. "Eren..." Eren then grabbed the end of the boat, picked his head up with tears in his coming down his eyes, and yelled out "...drive them out!" Armin looked at him shocked of what he said. "I'm going to drive out...every last one from this world!" "Eren..." Armin said to him.

     "I'm with you Eren." Everyone looked at you because of your words. "(Y/N), you aren't serious are you?" Armin said to you. "Yes I am Armin. The Titans have taken away my mom and I will avenge her. Plus, I need to find my dad...I know he's alive...people keep assuming that he's dead, but they don't know what really happened if they didn't see it." Everyone just stayed quiet and didn't want to argue with your decision.

The same year, the central government made the decision to withdraw all of humanity's domain behind Wall Rose. An estimated 10,000 people were eaten by Titans during this time.

You and Mikasa saw Eren wake up terrified again. "Eren. Are you ok? You were having a nightmare." Mikasa asked him. "I feel like I just saw Dad..." Eren said to Mikasa. "No. You were dreaming." She said to him. "Oh." Eren said then looked down and saw the key that his dad had around his neck. Now he was sure that it wasn't a dream. "Let's go. They said they're going to hand out food." Mikasa said. He then got up and started following Mikasa and you.

     "Apparently this was their food storehouse. They've gathered all the boat refugees here." You said to them. Eren then looked at the crowd of people in line getting themselves food. "Hey! Get in line, will ya?!" "Shut up!" You heard some people screaming at each other. "I ain't eaten anything since last night!" They holding on to each other's necks and spinning around ready to chock each other.

    "We can't say we've survived just yet." Mikasa said. You all then heard someone calling your names. "Eren! Mikasa! (Y/N)!" It was Armin running to all of you while carrying something in his arms. "Armin..." Eren said. "Here! Just in time! My grandpa got us some by saying it was for children!" Armin said while giving each one of us a the small loaf of bread. "Thank you." Mikasa said. "Yes, thank you Armin." You said while a small smile. When Eren got his, he had a shocked expression, then saw a scout looking at him.

     The soldier scoffed and walked away upset. "What's his problem?" Eren said while glaring at him. "You can't blame him. There's probably not enough food to go around. And that's an entire day's worth." Armin said, and Eren looked at his bread, now knowing that's it's all he's gonna get for the rest of the day. "There are just too many refugees. There was already a food storage going on, plus the people here aren't treated as well as citizens on the outer wall." Armin said.

     "This is mine!" "Shut up!" You heard the men still arguing. "Why should we hafta give our food to some lousy outsiders?" You all heard the soldier said. "If the Titans got through the wall, they could've at least eaten some more people, if you ask me!" He said. 'What the heck?! How dare he speak like that! Nobody should've died at all!' You thought to yourself. You then saw Eren walk up to him with an angry face. "Eren!" Armin said to him.

    "This is just gonna make the food shortage even worse." He said. Then Eren kicked him him the leg hard. "Oww! What the hell?! You damn kid!" He yelled out, then punched Eren, the the soldier that was next to him kicked him down. "Eren!" You yelled out. Eren then turned to the soldier and said "You don't know what it's like! You've never even seen it! You've never seen what the Titans do to people!" The soldier then got upset. "Shut up!" He walked to Eren but then Armin ran in front of him. "I apologize! He's just Hungry and irritable! That's why he so rudely lashed out at an adult... I'm very sorry!" Armin said to him. The soldier then looked around and said "Man... It's 'cause of us that you guys aren't starving to death, you know! Even you kids oughta be thankful to us!" "Of course!" Armin said to him. "Damn... I refuse to let them take care of me." Eren said.

"I'm going back. To Wall Maria! I'm going to destroy every last Titan!" Eren said. "Eren... You're not being serious, are you?" Armin said to him. "I'm serious! I'm not like those guys who do nothing but act tough inside the walls! I don't need this crap!" Eren then threw the bread and Armin quickly caught it. "Eren! You'll starve to death!" Armin said to him. "Doesn't it bother you at all?! It's because we take everyone's charity that we can't beat the Titans!" Eren said to Armin. "It's impossible! There is no beating them! All we can do is live inside the walls! If we try anything, we'll die! Just like my mom and dad!" "So your just gonna grovel to them then?! That's not shameful to you?!" "There's... There's nothing we can do for now!" "That's just an excuse! If you wanna live like livestock forever, go ahead! You wimp!" Eren yelled at him. Armin gasped in surprise. Mikasa then ran to Eren and punched Eren in the face.

    "Mikasa..." Armin said to him. "If Armin's a wimp, then so are we. Whether it was running from the Titans or fleeing the town, we didn't manage anything on our own. We even had help finding food today. There's no way such powerless people can defeat even a single one of those Titans. Staying alive is what matters most. Just like your mother said." Mikasa said to Eren. She then grabbed the bread from Armin and she stuffed it inside Eren's mouth. "Mikasa!" You said to her. "You have to eat and stay alive. I won't let you starve to death." Mikasa said to Eren, still stuffing the bread in his mouth. Tears started coming out of his eyes as he slowly ate the bread. You couldn't move your feet, it's like you were stuck to the ground.

Several days later, the throngs of refugees were tasked with cultivating the wastelands to secure food. However, a food shortage was unavoidable. So, in the following year of 846, the central government sent a multitude of refugees on a mission in the name of Wall Maria. Of the 250,000 sent--nearly 20% of the population--not even 200 survived. Although it wasn't much, their sacrifices did improve the food storage situation for the rest of the population.

     Armin held on to the hat, that his grandfather gave to him, before he left to go find food for the food storage situation. Armin was crying that he didn't come back. You felt so bad for him, you kneel down and tried to comfort him. "It's all the Titans' fault. If only we could just subdue them, our place in the world could be ours again." Eren said, then sat down next to you.

     "Armin. I'm going to apply for the Cadets next year." Eren said. You and Armin looked at him. But you also wanted to join ever since you learned about them from your father. "I'm going to gain the strength to fight the Titans!" Eren said to all of you. "Me too..." Armin said. "Armin?!" Eren said. "Me too!" Armin yelled out. "Me too..." Mikasa said. "Mikasa?! You don't need to! You said yourself staying alive is what's important!" Eren said to her. "Yes. That's why I'm doing it; so you won't die." Mikasa said to Eren. "Eren." You called him. He looked at you. "You already know my answer." You said to him. Eren looked at you and nodded. He then got up and said "All right. The four of us, then." You all had the face of confidence.

1 Year Later~

"The 104th Cadet Corps Class entrance ceremony will now begin! You have the misfortune of having me, Keith Sadies, as your commandant! I do not welcome you warmly! In your current state, you'd be nothing but food for the Titans! You're mere livestock! You're less than livestock! Over the next three years, we're going to train you worthless nothings and teach you how to fight Titans! Three years from now, when you come face-to-face with the Titans, will you still be fodder for them?! Will you serve as an honorable barrier that protects the king?! Or will you be a glorious soldier for humanity that drives the Titans out! It's up to you to decide!" The commander said to everyone. 'Yes. I'll be one. I'll drive out every last Titan!' Eren thought to himself. He had confidence that he was gonna wipe out every Titan that get's in his way of surviving in this world.
