Humanity was reminded that day...of the terror of being at their mercy...of the humiliation of being trapped inside a cage...

Your Pov.
     'A t-titan?! But not just any titan, the one my dad kept telling about over the years as a soldier in the Scout Regiment . And now it's here.'

Flash back~

Third Pov.
     You and Mikasa were in front of Eren, who was sleeping at the moment. He then woke up with a gasp and a terrifying look on his face. "Huh? Mikasa, (Y/N)..."

     "We should be getting back." Mikasa kept staring at Eren.

     "What are we doing here...?" Eren asked confused. "You were that deep asleep that you're still only half-awake?" Mikasa asked.

     Eren sat up, "No. It just felt like I had this really long dream or something..."

     "Do you remember what it was about? You looked terrified when you woke up." You asked him.

     "I can't remember (Y/N)..." Eren trailed off.

     "Eren, are you crying?" You said with concern for Eren.

     He looked surprised and touched his eyes and felt the tears on them. We then got up and grabbed our packs with firewood, and walked back into the town.

Time Skip~

     "Guys, don't you dare tell anyone I was crying." Eren told us.

     "We won't, right (Y/N)?" Mikasa looked at you. You nodded your head in agreement, "Still, Eren crying for no real reason... You should have your dad give you a checkup to make sure you're ok."

     "Don't be stupid (Y/N)! I can't tell him!" Eren shouted.

"What are you cryin' about, Eren?" You all heard someone say.

     You then looked up and and saw Hannes. "Mr. Hannes..." Eren said.

     "Did Mikasa get on your case about somethin'?" He said. "Huh?! What makes you think I was crying?! Whoa, you reek of alcohol!" Eren said.

    "Its like, come on, y'know?" One guy said. "Well it's obvious that you're drinking again." You said.

    "You guys wanna join in?" Hannes said. "Umm, don't you have work you need to do." You replied.

     "Yup! We're guardin' the gate today! We're stuck here all day, so we end up getting hungry and thirsty. If some booze happens to get in our drinks, so what? It's no big deal." Hannes says.

You and Eren got upset with his reply. But Eren was more furious then you. "What if something happens?! Can you fight like that?!" Eren said to him.

    "--Whadya mean, "if something happens"?"--You know what I mean! I'm talking about if they break the walls and get into the city!"

     "Owww... Geez Eren. Don't go yellin' like that." Hannes said.

     Then the guy who spoke earlier laughed and said "You've got spunk, doctor's son! If they do bust down the walls, we'll take care business, don't you worry. But that ain't happened once in the last one hundred years."

     "Still, my dad says there's nothing more dangerous than being complacent like that!" Eren yelled out.

  "Dr. Jaeger, huh? Yeah, he's got a point. He once saved this town from a epidemic. I can't argue with him. Still they're another story altogether.

     When your a soldier, you get to see those things roaming around outside while your on wall reinforcements duty and stuff. These walls are fifty meters tall, though. I can't see 'em getting through." Hannes said.

"Then...you're not actually prepared to fight them at all?!" Eren said with concern on his face. "Nope!" Hannes said.

     "Wh-What?! Then drop the "Garrison Regiment" name for "Wall Construction Squad" instead!" Eren yelled out.

     Hannes laughed, "Not a bad idea! But you gotta understand, Eren. If a soldier's doing his job, things have seriously gone to hell. It's better when everyone's calling us useless freeloaders; it means peaceful times for us all."

Eren's hand tighten into a fist, "Sure, we can stay inside the walls our entire lives and do nothing but eat and sleep! But...

     that basically...

     That basically makes us cattle!"

     Hannes looked surprised at Eren and the other soldiers laughed.

    "Man, you're one plucky kid, all right!"

     "For someone who's totally helpless! Right, Hannes?!"

     "Huh? Y-Yeah." Hannes said. You all then walked away and left Hannes yelling out Eren's name.

Time Skip~

     You all stayed quiet the rest of the walk till Mikasa spoke up. "Eren. I'd forget about the Scouts Regiment if I were you." Eren looked surprised at her.

    "What?! You think the Scout Regiment is a joke too?!" Eren said. "It's not about what I think." Mikasa said. Then a bell was rung, all of you heard it and knew the other scouts have returned from outside the wall fighting Titans.

     You and Eren were mostly excited about them returning. "Dad! The Scout Regiment are back!" You said.

    "They're gonna open the front gate!" Eren said. "Let's go see the heroes return Mikasa." You said, then grabbed Mikasa's hand and dragged her to the front gate.

When you all arrived, you tried looking for a spot to see the soldiers that returned hopefully alive. When you did Eren smiled at one of them, but he looked away.

     Eren was surprised at this but then you turned the other way to see the rest coming back and you saw the horror. You tugged on Eren's clothes and he saw what you saw.

     There were injured soldiers, some lost body parts, some were even missing.

"Everyone else must've gotten eaten."

     "This is what they get for going outside the walls."

     Then an old lady kept calling out Moses, you turned and looked at her. "I don't see my son Moses anywhere. Do you know where he is?" She asked a soldier.

     He looked at her, "This is Moses' mother. Go get it." He said to another soldier.

     He went over to the cart and got something that was tied up in a rag and had some blood stains. The lady looked shocked and she quickly opened it and saw it was her son's arm.

     She gasped and started crying. She fell to the ground and started hugging her son's arm.

     "It's all we could retrieve." All three of you were upset and felt bad for her. Eren kept looking at the scene with wide eyes.

     "But...

     my son...

     He was helpful, yes? Even if he didn't achieve direct greatness...surely my son's death helped humanity fight back, yes?!"

     His eyes widen, "Of course...No.... On our latest scouting mission, we...

     No...

     Just like all the other missions... We achieved nothing at all! My incompetence has done nothing. We haven't found anything about them!"

They were about to continue walking until you ran up to them and asked for your dad. "Excuse me, but have you seen my dad? (D/F/N) (D/L/N)!"

     "This is his daughter. I'm sorry, but your father is not here with us anymore."

     "No, your wrong. He's alive maybe you left him behind or something."

     "Little girl your father is dead, he-"

    "Did you see him die!" You cut him off.

    "No, but-"

     "Exactly! You didn't see him die so he must be alive."

    "Your father is dead! We couldn't find him! Get your facts straight! He's gone!" He yelled at you and continued going straight.

     You dropped to the ground and tears started coming up your eyes. Eren and Mikasa ran to you and pulled you back. Mikasa stroked your hair and Eren was about to say something but was cut off by some guys talking about the Scout Regiment.

"Talk about gruesome." "You can say that again. Our taxes are basically going to feeding and fattening those things up now." Then Eren hit one of them with a piece of firewood.

     "What the hell, you little punk?!" Eren was about to hit him again till Mikasa grabbed Eren and dragged him away from them.

     "H-Hey! What are you doing, Mikasa?! (Y/N), get Mikasa to let me go!" You just kept looking down and think how they can think your dad is dead. "Hey! Get back here, you!" The man yelled out.

Mikasa dragged Eren to somewhere else and Eren kept telling her to stop, and for you to help him. "Mikasa! Enough already!" She then threw him into a wall and you snapped out of it and quickly ran to him to see if he was alright.

     "Eren, are you alright?" You grabbed his hand with one hand and cupped his face with the other, and checked him to see if he had any bruises.

     He blushed a bit with you keep looking at him. Eren saw how beautiful your face is when up close. "Eren. Have you changed your mind about joining the Scout Regiment?" You pulled away from him and Eren looked at her shocked.

     'He still wants to join the Scout Regiment, doesn't he?' You asked yourself. "Help me pick this up." Eren said to you and Mikasa. "It's not that bad of a mess." Mikasa replied but still helped anyway.

Time Skip~

After we picked up the firewood we got up and kept walking. "I'll see you two later. Bye Eren. Bye Mikasa." You said. "Bye (Y/N)." Mikasa said.

     "Bye (Y/N)." Eren then he quickly ran up to you and whisper in your ear, "I'm still gonna join the Scout Regiment, I don't care what anyone says I'm still sticking to what I want to do with my life."

     "I won't get in your way, but I'm sure your mom would think the same way. She loves you and doesn't want you to get hurt." You said to him.

    "I know but-"

    "Eren." Mikasa cut him off. "I'll talk to you later Eren. Bye." You said then ran to your parents house.

Time Skip To Your House~

     "Mom! I'm home!" You yelled out. "Hello (Y/N), how's my little girl?" She said pinching your cheek. You giggle and pushed her hand away. "Mom, I'm not that little anymore." You put the firewood in the box.

     "Anyway, did you see your father at the entrance?"

    "No." Your mom stopped what she was doing and started tearing up. "But I know he's still out there. He wouldn't die, he promised us he would come back alive."

     Your mom walked up to you and held both your shoulders and got down to your eye level, "(Y/N), listen to me. I know your in disbelief, and I don't want to believe it either, but your father was a good man and a wonderful father, he would want you to stay strong and not give up."

    "No! He's still alive, they said they didn't see his death. So he must've taken cover and the soldiers didn't see him and assumed that he was dead!"

    "(Y/N) I know you don't to admit it but your father is not here anymore." Your mom said with tears in her eyes. "No! Your lying!" You then break away from her embrace and ran outside, ignoring your mother calling your name.

Outside Somewhere~

'I won't believe it. Dad is still out there. I know it. Another reason why I want to join the Scout Regiment.' You thought to yourself. "What's the matter, heretic?!" You heard this and decided to investigate what it is.

     You kept hearing people talking, then you realized what it was. It was Armin getting bullied again. You ran to him and pushed the boy bullying Armin. "You shouldn't do that to him." You said while glaring at him.

     "You stay out of this cutie and I won't hurt you." You growled at him.

You were gonna punch him in the face but then Armin spoke up. "You're just making her stoop to your level!" "Say what?!" The guy said.

    "You know I'm right! That's why you have to resort to violence! Because you can't argue back! Which means you concede defeat to me, does it not?!" The guy was shocked and yelled back to him

    "Shut up, smart-ass!" He went up him and raised his fist to punch him.

You were about to stop him but then heard Eren call out to him to stop. "Stop that!" You all turned to see Eren running towards him. "It's Eren!" They all got into fighting positions.

     "That idiot's back for more?!"

     "Does he want his ass kicked?!"

     "We'll tear you a new one!" Then they spotted Mikasa and got scared.

     "M-Mikasa's with him!"

    "S-Screw this! Let's get out of here!" They all ran away.

     "One look at me and they ran off!" Eren said feeling powerful. "No, it was Mikasa they saw... Oww!" Armin tried getting up but he just dropped back down to the ground.

     "Armin! Let me help you." You went up to him and offered him a hand. He looked at your hand and refused. "I can get up on my own..."

     "Oh."

Later In The Afternoon~

     "I said humanity needs to venture into the outside world at some point...and then they beat me up and called me a heretic." Armin said.

    "Damn... Why does everyone look down on people just for wanting to go outside?!" Eren said. "Well, because we've had a hundred years of peace by staying inside the walls." You said.

     Eren looked at you.

    "She's right Eren, they're worried they're going outside carelessly will invite them inside the walls. The royal government's polices have made having any interest in the outside world a taboo." Armin said to prove your point.

Eren just scoffed and said "It's our lives! We can risk 'em if we want!" "Absolutely not." Mikasa said disagreeing with Eren. "Forget about it." Mikasa said.

     "Which reminds me, I can't believe you told my parents!" Eren said to Mikasa.

     "Huh?" You and Armin are confused. 'Wait, did Mikasa told Eren's parents about him wanting to join the Scout Regiment?!' You thought to yourself.

     "I never agreed to help." Mikasa said to Eren.

"So, what did they say?" Armin said. You nodded in agreement.

     "They're...less then pleased."

    "It figures." Armin said.

    "Indeed, I think people are crazy if they think we'll be safe inside these walls forever." You said.

     "I'm agree with you (Y/N)...I mean, just because the walls haven't fallen for a hundred years doesn't guarantee that they won't fall today... And yet..." Armin said trailing off the last part.

Then a big explosion made a the whole city shake. Eren fell from his spot. Mikasa tumbled to the ground.

     Armin fell on top of you, when he noticed that he fell on you he blushed and quickly got up. "I'm sorry (Y/N), let me help you." Armin said extending his hand.

You took his hand and he pulled you back on your feet. "It's ok Armin, but what happened? Was it an explosion?" You said to him.

    "Are you guys ok?" You said to Mikasa and Eren.

    "This way."

    "Did something fall?"

     "I'm not really sure." You heard people say.

     Then Armin ran towards the crowd. "Hey, Armin!" Eren said. You all followed him. "What is it?! What do you see?!" Eren said. You all looked up and saw the horror.

     It was a Titan hand.

"It can't be...! Th-That wall is fifty meters high!" Armin said in disbelief. "It's one of them... A Titan!" Eren said.

     Then the Titan kicked the wall causing some people to die. "I-It... opened a hole in the wall..." Armin said.

    "There inside! The Titans have gotten inside!" A man said running for his life. "We need to run too. Eren!" Armin said. "My house is in that direction! Mom...!" Eren said.

     Then Mikasa ran to Eren, and you ran to your house to save your mom. "Mikasa! (Y/N)!" Armin said trying to reach out to you too, but he put his hand down.

     "It's all over... Countless Titans... are going to overrun the city!" Armin yelled out.

     You ran as fast as you can to your house to your mom. 'Mom is still there, the house is still there too. It's not destroyed, it's not in pieces.' You saw your house and it was destroyed.

     You ran inhuman speed and you saw your mom bleeding the death. "Mom! Mom!" You yelled out.

     "(Y-Y/N)?" "Don't worry mom, I'm gonna get you out of here, and we're gonna find someone to help you." You said while trying to lift the parts of the roof off of your mom.

  "(Y/N), it's too late for m-me, I k-know the T-Titans are h-here, I won't make it. You h-have a chance... Go, go and su-survive p-please!"

     "I'm not leaving you!" You said still trying to help your mom out of this situation. "If you s-stay, you'll die!" Your mom yelled at you.

     "If I leave then I'll feel like I just abandoned you here to die! I don't want to give up!" You screamed back at your mom.

Then you heard someone running towards you. You looked the other way and saw a soldier from earlier at the gate. "Thank god your here! Help me lift this!" He just looked at you and saw the Titan coming towards all of you.

    "Come on (Y/N), I'm taking you to the gate." "Please t-take (Y/N) somewhere s-safe!" Your mom said chocking on her words.

     He nodded at her and picked you up. "No, wait please. Let me go! I have to help my mom!" He ignored you and kept running away with you.

"Mom!" You yelled out. "(Y/N)! Please re-remember, I love y-you!" She said using her last words and dying of blood loss. You just looked at her and seeing the Titan push away the roof parts and picking up your mom.

     Your mom was lifted in the air and was bitten in half by the Titan. 'She... She...' You then cried into your hands as the soldier was still carrying you to the gate.

Humanity was suddenly reminded that day...of the terror of being at their mercy...of the humiliation of being trapped inside a cage...
