Flashback Your POV:

It was the afternoon of that day and you woke up to something moving on your chest. Your eyes fluttered open and you saw you were still in bed with Annie. She was curled up on your chest breathing light hot breaths.  You carefully moved her off you and when to the restroom to clean up. After washing up and coming out with a towel wrapped around you, you saw Annie starting to wake up. She looked at you and smirked, getting off the bed and strutting over to you, she wrapped her arms around you and you wrapped your around her bare waist.

Annie: All cleaned up for me?~

Y/N: Mmmm, I have to go back, I've already missed some duties because of our little "chat".

She pecked you lips and unwrapped the towel around you and wrapped it around herself.

Annie: Well, I enjoyed every moment with you, so I guess I should let you go back to your daily routine, you just have to make sure we "chat" more often.

Y/N: I'll try to stay in touch with you.

You kissed each other and you got dressed while she went to shower. After getting dressed, you went outside of HQ and before taking another step, a Garrison soldier approached you.

Garrison: Corporal, we need assistance.

Y/N: Something happen?

Garrison: We need help...cleaning the up bodies in Trost..

Y/N:...I'll be there right now, do you have a mask on you?

Garrison: Y-yes...here..

Y/N: Thanks, let get going.

Garrison: Follow me please.

The officer led you back into Trost District with a wagon in tow. The place reeked with the smell of corpses and titans. You saw soldiers piling bodies on top of each other and wheeling them off. You helped pick out body pieces from the balls of titan puke that layed all over the place. As you we walking with a nurse, you saw Jean stopped in front of a body. When you got closer you saw who it was...it was marco...

Y/N: Jean...

Nurse: Do you know his name?

Jean didn't reply, he just kept staring at Marco's mutilated body.

Y/N: His name is Marco Bott, 104th Cadet Corps. Please, leave me and the boy.

Nurse: Are you sure?

Y/N: Yes.

Nurse: Okay.

You walked up to Jean and he snapped out of his shock and looked at you. His eyes were filled with horror.

Jean: No one saw it, no one even knew...

Y/N: I'm sorry Jean. Marco was a good person, he didn't deserve this.

Jean: Marco..what happened?..

You saw the look in his eyes, he almost seemed broken. You dropped everything that was ridiculous that you had against Jean and pulled him into a tight hug trying to calm him down. Then finally he broke, you felt as he sobbed into your shoulder. After minutes had passed, he finally calmed down, you released him and stood up straight.

Y/N: Come on..lets take him to the fires so we can cremate him with the others.

Jean: R-right....thank you Corporal.

Y/N: It's alright Jean, just call me Y/N.

Jean: Y/N...thank you...

Y/N: Let's go.

You and him carried Marco and other bodies to be burned to ashes. At the end of the day, you were all stood in front of three huge bonfires, chips of bone flying from the flames. It was you, Jean, Krista, Ymir, Annie, Reiner, Bertolt, Connie, and Sasha. You felt terrible, all these people died for you. You never wanted this to happen. These people didn't have to die. Jean walked closer and picked up a chip of the bones.

Jean: Hey Marco...I can't even tell which bones are yours anymore.

You all stood there and mourned. You remembered all those good times you had with the cadets when you weren't training them, when they actually thought of you as a friend. They all looked up to you and counted on you to be there for them, you counted on them as well. You tried your best, but it just wasn't good enough. Then, you remembered what Eren said the night before all this chaos began.

Flashback

Eren: We will abandon these tactics that cost tens of thousands of lives to develop, and let the titans eat us without a fight?

Flashback over

Y/N Thoughts: I know we have to fight...but damn it Eren, no one is as eager as you to jump into the face of death and take it on. We're all still young. We can't just throw away our lives.

All of a sudden you saw Jean get up, his expression changed. He didn't look sad anymore...he looked...determined. He stared into the fires while gripping a piece of charred bone.

Jean: Hey, guys...

You all turned to Jean with wondering faces. What was he gonna say? His face reverted to one of nervousness.

Jean: Have you decided which one your going to join? I have.

You all stared at him confused, you were a little afraid of what he was going to say. He grabbed his wrist and began to shake uncontrollably.

Jean: I.....I.....I'm joining the survey corps!

You went wide-eyed hearing his choice. The survey corps? He had always wanted to join the MP's, if he changed his mind, then this really did affect him the most. You went up to him again, and put a hand on his shoulder. He looked at you with tears barely escaping his eyes.

Y/N: You won't go through it alone, I'll be there for you, no matter what Jean.

Jean: Y/N...

He finally broke again and began to cry into your shoulder as you held him tightly. You looked at everyone else and they looked like they wanted to cry as well. You motioned for all of them to join the hug, which they all gladly accepted. You held your cadets...your friends...your family as close as you could.

Y/N: No matter where you all go, I will be there for you no matter what. I don't care if your in the scouts or MP's, damn it I will be there for you all. I promise to protect you all with my life.

You heard the girls begin to sob as the men were breathing heavy, Connie let a few tears escape his eyes, while Jean sobbed into your shoulder. You let a tear escape your eye as well as you looked into the blaze of burning bones.

Y/N Thoughts: My fellow comrades and cadets...I will avenge you...you will not have died in vein...rest easy in the after life my friends.

Flashback End

You were stood in the barracks along with every other person in the base. You learned that when the survey corps had captured two titans, a 4 meter and 7 meter, that someone who had ODM gear had killed the subjects, thus hindering the study of titans. You stood in the front watching the inspection teams check every single persons gear. After inspections were over it was seen that no one had used their gear without permission, so deciding to no longer wander around there, you decided to head over to the Scouts base of operations. You were nearing the location and saw that Eren and Levi were just coming from somewhere as well. You tied your horse next to Eren's and saw Petra was heading towards you with a cloak in her hand.

Petra: Hey, Y/N, your uniform just arrived, sorry it took so long.

Y/N: It's no worries, thank you Petra.

Petra: No problem.

She walked away and you began to feed your horse along side Eren. It was silent til Gunther shouted towards Eren.

Gunther: Hey Eren, are there any in your class who will request to join us?

Eren: There are...no, there were. I don't know about now.

Scout: Attention!

You and Eren turned around and saw Levi arrive on his horse.

You watched as he looked told Eld and Gunther something, then he turned to you and Eren.

Eren: Good morning Captain Levi!

Levi: Listen Eren, we're going on patrol, never fall two horse lengths behind me or Y/N. Don't forget the only reason your not locked up is because we're watching you.

Eren: Yes sir!

Levi: Y/n, you'll be heading with your sister and Petra to the ceremony tonight.

Y/N: Yes sir.

Levi: Lets go.

You and Eren got on your horses and went outside to see Levi's squad and your sister.You rode up next to Sarah.

Y/N: Hey sis.

Sarah: Morning Y/N.

You began to make your way to where ever your destination was. It was a little silent the whole way, but you soon arrived at your destination. You saw Commander Erwin, Hanji, and a few other scouts. You also noticed that it'll be time soon, a few hours to be exact.

Y/N: Are we going to be here during the ceremony?

Sarah: It looks like it, I wonder who will choose to join us, or how many really.

Y/N: I have a small idea of who...

Timeskip to the time of the ceremony, Your POV:

You watched as the cadets lined up and stood at attention as Erwin came out, then he began his speech.

Erwin: I am Erwin Smith, Commander of the Survey Corps. Today, you will chose a branch of the military you will join. To put it bluntly, I'm here to persuade you to join the Survey Corps. During the titan attack, you learned how terrifying they can be. And how limited your own power is. However...this battle brought humanity closer to victory than it ever has been. Through Eren Jaeger, and Y/N L/N's existence. By risking their own lives, they've proven themselves, without a doubt, a friend to humanity. With their help, not only did we stop the titans advance, we have found a way to discover their true nature.

You heard gasps coming from all the cadets, you even let one out yourself.

Erwin: We believe that in the basement of Eren's Shganshina home, there are answers about the titans that he himself doesn't have. If we can reach his basement, we will find a clue that will end this century of titan rule.

The cadets began to whisper to themselves, you were surprised, he's revealing the plan to everyone?

Erwin: We will head to the basement in Shiganshina, however that will require the retake of Wall Maria. In other words, our objective hasn't changed.

You watched as Petra and Miche unrolled what looks like some sort of layout for the three walls.

Erwin: But, with the Trost gate sealed, we will have to take the long way around from Karanes District to the East. The four years we spent laying a route for a large army have gone to waste. In those four years, more than sixty percent of the Survey Corps lost their lives. Sixty percent in four years...an insane figure. Any trainees who join, will participate in our excursion beyond the walls, in a month. We expect thirty percent won't return. In four years, most will be dead. But those who survive will become superior soldiers with a high survival rate.

He went silent as you looked at the cadets who now looked scared about joining.

Erwin: Knowing these discouraging facts, any still willing to risk their lives, remain here. Ask yourself...Are you willing to offer your beating heart to humanity?

The cadets all seemed to flinch at the last part, you saw they were scared. And it looked like they weren't going to stick around.

Erwin: That is all. Anyone who wishes to join another branch is dismissed.

A scout next to you took a step forward and asked Erwin a question.

Scout: Commander, don't you think you scared them a little too much? All of them will leave!

You began to watch as the large number of cadets began to pile out of the ceremony area. People after people leaving. You were saddened that most of them were leaving, but somewhat relieved as well since they would be safe here in the walls. You even saw Annie walk out with everyone else. Soon enough everyone was gone..except for those who you cared about the most, the ones you swore to protect. Mikasa, Armin, Sasha, Connie, Reiner, Bertolt, Ymir, Krista, and Jean with a few other cadets. They all held terrified and scared faces, Mikasa kept her composure out of everyone.

Erwin: Can you die if your ordered to?

Cadet: I don't want to die!

Erwin: I see. I like the looks on your faces. Then I welcome everyone here to The Survey Crops! This is a true salute! Offer up your hearts!

All of you on stage saluted along with the commander as the cadets did as well. They all looked like they had faces full of regret. You saw Krista look like she wanted to cry, you felt terrible for all of them, they were going to be in the front lines with you. You wished that they would instead stay within the walls.

Erwin: You all have done well to endure your fear. You are brave soldiers. You have my heartfelt respect.

After the ceremony was done, you told your sister and everyone else that you would leave after catching up with the cadets. Erwin agreed to it and let you stay for a while longer, but told you that you had to comeback tonight. You agreed and watched as they departed on their horses. You waited outside of the ceremony gate for everyone. Once they came out, they saw you stood in front of them with your new Scout uniform. You watched as they all stared back into your (E/C) eyes. You looked at Krista, she still looked like she wanted to cry.

Y/N: *sigh* Come here Krista, just let it out.

She gave up in holding back tears as she ran towards you and fell into your arms and let her tears fall onto your chest. You held her close and looked back at everyone else, they moved towards you and you found yourself in the middle of a group hug.

Y/N: Your all so brave for doing this, I can't be anymore proud of you all.

You tightened your embrace around Krista as she sobbed. You took one hand and pulled Sasha closer to you as she also had tears in her eyes, and she buried her face into the crook of your neck and lightly sobbed. Everyone tightened the hug as much as they could. After a few miuntes longer, you all broke the hug. Krista had fallen asleep on you, so you picked her up and walked beside everyone as you were heading back to their quarters. It was silent the whole way and everyone parted to their rooms. Once you reached Krista's room, you laid her down and pulled the blanket over her. You gave her a light kiss on the forehead and saw a faint smile appear on her face. After leaving her room, you were making your way out and was about to get your horse til a hand stopped you. You turned around and saw Mikasa.

Mikasa: Y/N.

Y/N: What is Mikasa? Are you alright?

Mikasa:...No..I'm afraid.

Y/N: Afraid of what?

Mikasa: Of losing everything again. What if I lose Eren, or Armin, or Sasha, Krista, even Ymir...what if I lose you?...

You wrapped her in an embrace as she wrapped her arms around you and began to breathe heavy. You lifted her chin so she could look into your eyes. You leaned down and kissed her. She melted into the kiss and pulled you closer. After a few minutes, you pulled away from the need of air and looked into her beautiful eyes.

Y/N: You won't lose anyone...you won't lose me. I promise.

Mikasa: Y/N...

You pressed your forehead against hers as you both breathed in the same air and held each other close, soon it was time for you to head back. You pulled away and said your goodbye's to Mikasa, and after that, you mounted your horse and rode off into the night towards the scouts HQ.

Timeskip to the next morning

You woke up to the beating sun shining through your window on your face. You collapsed last night in an awkward sleeping position which resulted in a now tight uncomfortable body. Your whole body felt tight and rigid, and groaned getting out of bed, not even bothering to change. You went out of the living quarters and headed to the mess hall for something to drink. You got there and noticed there was quite the amount of people inside, but you didn't care about your morning look and walked past everyone to get your drink. As you were filling up your cup, Oluo and Eld walked up behind you.

Eld: Whoa Y/N, didn't get much sleep last night? you look like hell.

Y/N: Ughh, no I didn't. What's worse is I feel all tight from sleeping wrong.

Oluo: That's what you get for being a stubborn brat and staying out longer than you should.

Y/N: Cut the Levi act you stupid fuck, does it look like I give a shit what you say?

Oluo glared at you while Eld snickered a bit.

Oluo: What the hell did you say to me?!

Y/N: Man, I didn't know you were deaf as well.

Oluo: I don't get why the Captain even put you in our squad, probably has to do with your sister.

Y/N: I'd watch your mouth if I were you. Talk all you want about me, but don't even think about involving my family.

Oluo: What? I hit a pressure point?

Eld: Oi, Oluo, you should really stop.

Oluo: What for? This brat needs to be more respectful, he's just here because his sister is part of our squad, which I still don't get why she's here. That girl isn't even good enough to be with us.

You snapped hearing this and threw your cup at Oluo's head. When he turned to you, you had already thrown a punch into his face. He stumbled back but you pressed forward and gave him a roundhouse kick to the head. He fell to the ground and you took his arm and restricted it behind his back.

Y/N: Take it back, or I break your arm.

Oluo: AGH! Alright! I'm sorry!

Y/N: That's what I thought.

You released him and have him one final kick in the gut while he was still on the floor. You refilled your cup and proceeded outside. You looked around and stopped when your eyes came to look towards the horse stalls. You saw all the new recruits talking to Ness.

Ness: Attention!

They all saluted and stood at attention in front of Ness. You saw he was close to his horse and couldn't help but chuckle.

Y/N Thoughts: Haha, his horse is gonna do it again.

Ness: I'm squad leader Ness. And this is Shallot, my horse. She loves to chew off your hair, so beacreful if you don't want to go bald. Nice to meet you all.

As if on cue, his horse bit on his bandanna and pulled showing some of his baldness.

Y/N Thoughts: Ha! Called it!

Ness: H-hey, stop it Shallot! Hey, someone grab her!

You walked away deciding to see all the recruits later and went back to your room. Once inside you locked the door and took off your shirt from the heat and closed your window. You flopped down on your bed trying to fall back asleep, but just after your eyes closed, a knock came from the door. You got up and opened the door to reveal your sister.

Sarah: Hey Y/N, can I come in?

Y/N: Of course, I just woke up.

You let her in and she takes a seat on your bed and you close the door and sit next to her.

Sarah: I heard what happened this morning between you and Oluo.

Y/N: Hmph, that jerk had it coming with that loud mouth of his. He may get Eren with that seniority shit, but not me.

Sarah:..do I annoy you?..

Y/N: Huh? Why on earth would you annoy me?

Sarah: There's been constant talk now between scouts, it's been about you didn't you notice? A lot of them think your in the number one squad just because your my brother. I can't help but feel it's my fault for all this battering towards you.

Y/N: Sarah, I don't care what they say about me. I'm here because I'm needed to be here, yeah we're brother and sister, so what? Why should that influence anything? Levi didn't just bring me into his squad because my only sibling left in my life is here. He brought me because he needs me. He needs me to train Eren, he needs me to go on these expeditions and help with the operation to take back Maria. The other's can talk all they want, I don't care.  If they talk about you though, that's when I will get involved. Sarah, is anyone treating you wrong?

Sarah: Ohh no, nothing like that...

You could feel the lie in her response.

Y/N: Sarah, what's going on?

Sarah: I just don't want everyone to constantly batter you.

Y/N: It's different this time. I'm better than them, it's why I'm in this squad and why I'm here. Why I became a Corporal, why I can lead these people to battle. I'll be fine, I promise.

Sarah: Okay, I trust you know what your doing.

Y/N: Sarah, never think anything like that again. I would give everything for you.

Sarah: I know.

Y/N: Come here.

You embraced your sister in a warm hug, and stay like that for a few minutes. After breaking the hug, she left as you finally collapsed on your bed and fell asleep.

Timeskip to middle of the afternoon

As you were sleeping, your felt something stir on top of you, this sudden movement caused you to wake up and when you looked down you saw a head of raven black hair on your chest.

Y/N: Mikasa?

She didn't wake up, but she moved to a more comfortable position on your chest. You couldn't help but smile, and kissed the too of her head. You heard your stomach grumble and decided to grab a quick snack. After you lightly set down Mikasa, you quietly left the room and made your way to the mess hall. The sun was still kind of out so you still saw a good amount of people out. You saw Eren and Levi's squad gathered together so you went to see what they were talking about.

Y/N: Hey, what are you guys looking at?

Sarah: We're just going over where we will be in the formation.

Y/N: Ahh, and where would that be?

Gunther: We'll be in the rear center of the formation, it's the safest place in the formation.

Y/N: Got it.

Gunther: The objective is just to go out and return, it's so short because it's a practice run for when we head to Shiganshina with you and Eren.

Y/N: I'll manage.

Eren: I still don't know what this power should be used for...

Gunther: Did you understand what the commander's question meant?

Y/N: What question?

Eld: He asked "What do you think the enemy is?"

Eren: Did you all understand?

They all shook there heads "No".

Oluo: It may be a lie to claim we understand everything.

Y/N: Shut the fuck up Oluo.

Oluo: Why you-

Gunther: It's possible this mission has another goal. But the commander decided it was best not to reveal that fact to the soldiers. So we should just focus on getting there and back.

Y/N: Sounds good.

Gunther: Believe in the commander.

Eren: Right...

Gunther: That's all for training, lets head back.

You all went back to where everyone else was and saw all the cadets walking together in a group, Eren has yet to see them so he just had to ask.

Eren: Sir, may I go speak to-

Y/N: Cut that shit Jaeger and get going, they've been waiting too long to see you.

You saw Eren run after them, and you left the squad to follow. You walked normally, still kind of tired but fast enough to keep up with Eren.

Eren: Hey, Mikasa, Armin!

You saw all of them turn around to see you and Eren coming up to them.

Mikasa: Eren...

Eren: Feels like it's been a long time!

Mikasa: Eren, did they do anything bad to you? Like investigating every square inch of you? Or psychological torture?

You saw Mikasa grab his hands, she grew a worried expression.

Eren: No way.

Y/N: He's alright, I've kept an eye out for him.

Mikasa: That short guy went too far trying to attack you and Eren, someday I'll see him pay for it.

Eren: You don't mean Captain Levi do you?

Connie: Hey Eren, Y/N...

Sasha: It's been so long!

Eren: What? Everyone's here? But if your all here, doesn't that mean you joined the Survey Corps, does it?

Y/N: Well why else would they be here?

Eren: So Jean, Annie, and Marco joined the MP's?

You heard footsteps behind you and you all turned to see Jean and other cadets.

Eren: No way...Not you too!

Jean: Marco's dead.

You put your head down as Eren gasped at the news.

Eren: What was that? Did you say Marco's dead?

Jean: Seems not everyone gets a dramatic death. I don't even know how he died. He died without anyone knowing, or anyone seeing.

Eren: Marco...

You picked your head up and saw scouts holding new uniforms.

Y/N: Hey, all of you, your uniforms are here, get over to them.

You watched as your cadets threw on their new jackets, and pulled on the cloaks of the scouts, bearing the insignia of the Wings of Freedom.

Timeskip to night, in the barracks

You and your new recruits along with Eren gathered together in the barracks to talk.

Eren: Are you really...

Mikasa: Yes, we'll also be participating in the mission.

Jean: Hey, Eren. I heard that when you turned into a titan, you attacked Y/N, and tried to kill Mikasa. What does that mean?

Y/N: Jean, he didn't mean to. He thought I was another titan.

Mikasa: No. Eren was trying to hit a fly...

Jean: I wasn't asking you two. Mikasa, it looks like that wound on your cheek is pretty bad. When did you get that?

Eren: When I became a titan, I did attack Y/N, I tried to kill Mikasa.

Jean: If you heard, then you don't remember, right? In other words, you had no idea you even had this titan power, and you don't have the means to control it.

Eren: Yes, thats right.

Jean: Hey did you hear that? This is out situation, humanity and our lives depend on him. We'll probably die just like Marco, without Eren ever realizing it.

Mikasa: Jean, what's the point in asking Eren these questions now?

Jean: Listen Mikasa, not everyone is like you, willing to die for Eren's sake with nothing in return. We should know what we're dying for. Otherwise, we will hesitate when the time comes. We want something in return from him. So let me see what he has to offer. And whether it's worth my life.

You watched as Jean made his way to Eren and grabbed both his shoulders.

Jean: So Eren...I'm really counting on you.

Eren: R-right.

Timeskip To the next morning

You and the rest of the Survey Corps were stood in front of the gate in Karanes District preparing for your departure outside the wall. You were on your horse next to Levi looking towards the gate. Then a squad leader began to speak to all the recruits and scouts loudly for everyone to hear.

Squad Leader: It's time! Humanity will take another step forward. Show me what you can do!

You heard the shouts and yells of determination behind you saw everyone raised their fists and swords in the air.

Squad Leader: Open the gate!

You saw Erwin signal for you to come up to where he was. You rode up next to him and asked you a question.

Erwin: Y/N, would you do the honor of leading us out of the gates?

Y/N: Heh, with pleasure Commander.

The gates finally opened and you stood in front of everyone and raised your blade in the air. You screamed loud enough and your horse went on it's hind legs before taking off.

Y/N: ADVANCE!!

Everyone: AHHHHH!!!!!

You all rode off outside of the gate and proceeded to begin your operation. This was the 57th expedition outside of the walls, and you rode in front with determination in your eyes.

Y/N Thoughts: We will go home....We will retake the wall...WE WILL DEFEAT THE TITANS AND I WILL AVENGE MY PARENTS DEATHS!

*Mikasa puts cloth to author's face and waits for him to fall asleep*
