Backstory: Alex lived with Mikasa and Eren until the titans attacked. When they attacked she got separated from them and was taken to the boat by a man who got grabbed by a titan a few seconds after he let go of Alex. When she saw Eren and the others again she was relieved, but she felt different than she did before. She felt more emotionless.

Other:

• She becomes nearly completely emotionless after she kept witnessing  so many of her comrades get eaten. She only shows some emotions when she is around some of the main characters, Levi and the Levi squad.

Backstory: Layla lived in Wall Maria before the walls were breached. When the titans breached the walls Layla was separated from her family, she managed to find them again but she only found the corpses of her mother and father. Her older brother was getting eaten in front of her own eyes, after the titan ate him it came after her. She was grabbed but thanks to someone from the Garrison she was able to escape to wall rose
