Chapter 4: Father?
Petra was thrown off her wheelchair and fell to the cold cement of the court room.
"Sit up!" Shouts an interior police man.
Petra slowly tries to sit up but fails due to the pain in her back. The man grabs her and sits her up and sets a metal bar in the ground as her handcuffs slide in between a slit in the bar. Petra grids her teeth as the trial is about to start.

The sound of a wooden hammer tapping against a platform, disturbing the room.
"Now let us start, shall we?" Says Zackly, the supreme commander of the military forces in this case the judge. "This says that Petra Ral was found by Captain as another female titan in the 58th expedition." Zackly reads off a report. "The reason we're here is to decide if she is an enemy or not and what we should do with her. Interior Police what's you suggestion?"
"Sir! We think she is an enemy probably on the same side as Annie Leonheart and we suggested that she be executed when proven!" Shouts the head of the Interior Police, Nile.
Petra gasped to how people can think about her like that. She looked over to Levi and saw that he was unhappy. It made she feel a little better knowing that someone trusts her.
"Noted. Anything from the Scout Regiment?" Zackly questions.
"Petra Ral was one of the elite members from Levi's squad. She served 14 years as a Scout and never disobeyed orders. With that said she is not an enemy." Commander Erwin states.
"Noted. Now Petra Ral, are you an enemy of humanity?" Zackly questions.
"Of course not!" Shouts Petra.
"To be honest, the Interior Police's statement is a little far fetched. I think I've decided to continue having Petra under the watch and care of Captain Levi." Zackly states.
"WHAT!?" Shouts Nile.
"Petra will continue to be under the watch and care of Captain Levi until she is well recovered. That is final." Zackly closes.

Zackly taps the wooden platform with the hammer signaling that that's the end of the trial.

Levi pushes Petra out of the court room and outside. Levi bends down to Petra's ear.
"Now what did I tell you?" Levi whispers.
"Thank you." Petra whispers.
"What for?" Levi questions, a little confused.
"For trusting me." Says Petra.
"I'll always trust you." Levi states. "Oh, one more thing." Levi waits for a reply.
"What?" Petra replies.
"I'm taking you to go see your father." Says Levi.
"Your joking." Petra says as her face goes blank.
"I'm not." Levi replies.
"Oh my goodness! Thank you Levi!" Petra shouts as a huge smile appears on her face.
Levi freezes to her smile once again. He starts to feel light head as he brushes Petra's hair behind her ear. Petra's face turns red as turns her head away from Levi trying not to let Levi see her embarrassed face. Levi looked up and saw that people were staring. He didn't care. He walked to the back of the wheelchair and started pushing.
They strolled through the streets of Trost until they came to a stop right in front of small brick house.
"Ready?" Asks Levi.
Petra took a deep breath and nodded. They rolled up to the front door then Levi knocked on it. It took a while until someone came to the door. It slowly opened revealing a amber haired old man with dark brown eyes wearing a white shirt with a brown vest and matching brown pants. The man only saw the Captain at first and swung the door opened. Petra's eyes widen as she saw her father standing in the doorway.
"Captain Levi! I wasn't expecting y-" Petra's father stops as he looks down to see Petra sitting in a wheelchair.
"Hi, Dad." Says Petra.
"H-How i-is th-this p-posible?" Petra's father stutters.
Levi clears his throat. "May we come in? We'll explain everything inside." Says Levi.
"O-Ok, c-come in." Says Petra's father.
Levi rolls Petra inside as Petra's father stares in shock. He parks Petra beside the living room sofa as he turns to face Petra's father.
"Um, now where should I start?" Levi begins. "Uh, as you can see, your daughter is alive. With that said, she was found outside wall Rose and was badly injured and still recovering. As her Captain, she is under my watch and care." Levi states.
"Please just let me see her." Petra's father says as he pushes Levi aside.
Petra's father kneels down in front of his daughter and puts a hand on her knee.
"Petra?" Whispered Petra's father.
"I'm here Dad." Says Petra.
"My baby, I'm so happy to see you alive." Petra's father sobs. "I read your letter and after the expedition I coming to go see you, but I couldn't find you. I saw Captain Levi and he told me about your death... and-and-and I-I-I-" Petra's father stops as he puts head on Petra's laps.
"It's ok Dad, I'm here now." Petra reassures him as she strokes his hair.
"I love you so much, Petra." Says Petra's father.
"I love you too, Dad." Petra replies.
As Levi watches Petra and her father's little reunion, his mind drifts off.
"Petra's dead." Levi says bluntly.
"W-What? Th-that c-can't be. My baby, gone? N-N-N-N-Nooo n-no. She can't be." Petra's father sobs. "Let me see her. You her body right. There's something left of her right."
"No. There's not. I'm sorry." Levi states.
Levi keeps walking, leaving Petra's father standing in the streets, broken.
"Captain Levi?" A voice interrupts his daydream.
"Sorry, did you say something, Mr. Ral?" Levi asks.
"May I talk to you in private?" Mr. Ral asks.
"If you insist." Says Levi.
Mr. Ral takes Levi into another room and shuts the door behind making sure Petra won't hear.
"Uh, Captain Levi, I-I told you about the letter Petra wrote but I wanted to ask you, i-if y-you, uh, well... do you love my daughter as much as she loves you?" Mr. Ral stutters a question.
Levi froze as if something punched him in the stomach. His heart starts racing as he wears a shocked expression.
"Uh, I-I think there's a misunderstanding here. Your daughter and I have no relationship like that." Levi says while straightening his face.
"Oh! Silly me. Haha. I thought you two were getting married or something like that. My apologies." Mr. Ral nervously laughs.
"What made you think that?" Levi questions.
"Oh, well.... um, in Petra's letter, she clearly states.... Uh, let me just show you." Mr. Ral says as he walks over to desk, they were clearly in his office room.
He opens the top right drawer and pulls out a letter. He hands it to Levi.
"I don't think this is for me to read." Levi states.
"No, please." Mr. Ral insists.
"Alright, I'll read it." Levi says as starts to read.
Dear father,
I'm writing to you because I'm leaving for an expedition in a few weeks. My time spent here, in the special operation squad was one of the best times in my life and I'm so grateful for Captain Levi. I will devote myself to him and for the cause of humanity. This might become a shock to you, but I don't see Captain Levi as just my Captain, I see him as a friend or maybe more. Sometimes I don't even know to be honest, but all that matter is that I will always be at his side no matter what happens.
Love you so much.
~ Petra
Levi folds the letter a k up without saying a word. He hands the letter back to Mr. Ral, but he didn't accept it.
"No no I think you should keep it." Mr. Ral suggests.
"I don't think that's appropriate." Says Levi.
"No no I insist. I've read that one too many times and all it bring is sorrow to me. I think it will bring you joy instead. Please take it, for Petra." Mr. Ral insists.
Levi doesn't reply as he puts the letter into the pocket on the inside of his black coat. He walks out of the room and heads down the hallway to meet up with Petra siting quietly in the living room.

The sound of footsteps forces Petra to whip her head towards the sound. Petra stares at a 5'3" man with short raven hair, pale skin and deep blue eyes as he walks into the living room. Levi made eye contact with Petra and her face turned red as she jerks her head the other way. Levi also felt a little uncomfortable around her due to the letter he read. He walks over to her and kneels down in front of the wheelchair. Petra tries not to make eye contact again as Levi looks straight at her. His eyes trail from her strawberry blonde hair to her golden hazelnut brown eyes to her rosy cheeks and then to her soft pink lips.
"Petra?" Levi whispers as Petra's eyes meet his. "Are you ready to get back to the house?" Asks Levi.
Petra simply just nods as she brakes eye contact again. Levi puts a hand on her knee and rubs it as he gets up. Petra's face was more red before as she tries to hide her face behind her hair. Levi starts pushing Petra towards the door.
"You're leaving already?" Mr. Ral questions.
"Yes." Answers Levi as feels uncomfortable at the thought of staying any longer.
"Don't worry Dad, I'll visit again. Right Captain?" Says Petra.
"Uh... sure, why not." Levi says with an emotionless face.
"In that case I'll say my goodbyes until next time." Suggests Mr. Ral.
Mr. Ral walks towards his daughter and kisses her on the forehead. "I'll see you soon?" Questions Mr. Ral.
"Ya of course." Replies Petra.
"I'm guess you'll be with her next time too." Mr. Ral says as he reaches out a hand for a hand shake.
"Yes." Levi replies, not returning the hand shake.
Mr. Ral awkwardly put his hand down and opens the door for them. "Thank you so much for stopping by. I don't what I'd do if you hadn't." Says Mr. Ral.
"Bye Dad." Says Petra as she rolls out the door.
"Bye sweetheart." Replies Mr. Ral.
Mr. Ral shuts the door after Petra leaves his line of sight.

After Levi and Petra got home, Petra anxious to get walking again.
"Cap- I mean Levi?" Calls Petra.
"What is it?" Levi answers with his signature tone and expression.
"Um, I want to start walking again." Says Petra.
"Alright." Levi says as he gets up from the sofa and walks towards Petra.
Levi puts he hand out for Petra and she takes it. He pulls Petra out of the wheelchair and into his arms as he positions her to his side. Levi felt little more awkward this time putting his hand around her waist. Petra felt his hand slowly slip around her waist as she grips tightly around Levi's neck.
"A-Are you ok?" Levi asks.
"Y-Ya." Petra squeals.
"Ok. I'm going to carry less of your weight this time." Levi states.
"Ok." Petra replies.
Levi lets Petra's legs carry a little more than half her weight.
"Can you handle it?" Asks Levi.
Petra nods her head as she takes a step. "I did it!" Shout Petra.
"Ya, you did." Says Levi.
After a few steps Levi gradually lets go ofall her weight without Petra knowing. Petra kept walking, but slows down after a while. One of her knees bent and she couldn't keep her up and collapse downward. Levi quickly catches her fall as he falls to his knees. Petra kneels beside him as she covers her face.
"I-I just want th-things to go b-back to normal." Petra sobs as Levi stays silent for he is horrible at comforting. "I-I'm sorry." Petra cries as she pulls Levi into a hug not realizing it.
Levi was shocked as he slowly starts to return the hug until Petra bolts back.
"I-I'm s-sorry, I-I din't m-mean t-to." Petra stutters as her face becomes a light shade of red.
"It's not a big deal." Levi reassures with a blank expression.
Levi helps Petra up into her wheelchair as Petra tightens the grip the collar of his shirt before letting go.

Later that night, Petra lays in Levi's bed, in deep thought.
What did my father say to him? Hopefully it wasn't anything embarrassing.
Petra decides to get up for a bit since she can't seem to get to sleep. She hops into her wheelchair, it was way easier now and rolls out the bedroom door. She enters the living room slowly to see if Levi was awake. She then spots him at the table with his arms comforting his head on the table, asleep. Petra sighs.
Why didn't you just at least sleep on the couch?
Petra moves towards Levi's jacket that hangs at back of his chair. She picks it up and lays it on Levi's back as something falls out of the jacket and lands on her foot. She looks at it and realizes that it is a letter. She decides to pick it up, then opens it. Petra gasped.
This is my letter. The letter I wrote to my dad. Why does Levi have it. Did he read it already? I hope not.
She hears a sound coming from Levi and quickly puts the letter back in one of the jacket pockets. She then pushes at the wheels on the wheelchair and moves backwards. She rolls one wheel to turn herself around then rolls towards the living room. She pulls up in front on the window and stares outside. It was snowing, tiny white crystallized specs fell from the dark sky as Petra gazed at the beautiful sight. She starts to feel sleepy and heads off to bed once again.
Laying there, she closes her eyes and drifts to sleep. Her mind couldn't get Levi out of it and she starts dreaming of him.
Petra's head lies in between someone's collarbone and jaw as her hands slip down towards his abs, tracing them with her fingers. She looks up to see Levi asleep with his arm tightly around her waist. She pushes herself up, her head right above Levi's as her hair falls down tickling his cheeks. Levi's eyes squint open to see Petra's face above his as he puts a hand on her cheek and lands a kiss on her lips.
Petra gasps as her bolts up into a sitting position, taking in deep breaths. She cups her hands around her mouth as her face turns red.
What did I just dream of?!
She lets her arms drop onto her laps as she looks around the room. She looks toward the window to see snowflakes fall in a dark surrounding. Her eyes moved down, looking at an alarm clock.
It's only one o'clock in the morning?
Petra sighed as her plops back down, laying on the bed as she gazes at the ceiling. Her thoughts trail back to her dream she had of Levi as her face begins to brighten in colour once again.
