Level 7- Take Two
8 p.m.
Brad Kazinsky sat in his living room watching TV, trying to take his mind off the recent events. Still, the urge to check his e-mail did not go away.
He decided to take a look at his laptop. Thankfully, nothing suspicious appeared. If anything terrible did show up, he could immediately close the laptop.
Brad then went into his bathroom to wash his sweat off his face. As he looked into the mirror, he saw he looked better, but not by much. He then dried his hands on a red hand towel.
When Brad looked back into the mirror, his reflection was gone. He blinked, then blinked again. Maybe the stress was getting to him.
Nope, still gone.
A full minute passed before Brad's reflection reappeared, this time carrying his laptop into the bathroom.
It then spoke.
LAST TIME, THINGS DIDN'T GO SO WELL. HOW ABOUT DOING A SECOND TAKE?
The image then threw the laptop toward the mirror, shattering it in the real world.
Brad let out a scream. He experienced further horror as he felt several glass shards embedded in his face. One of them was a mere centimeter below his right eye. Even worse was the fact that pulling the pieces out right now would probably make things worse.
Feeling no other option, Brad rushed to his phone to dial 911, only to find the battery completely dead. Seeing the charger nearby, he tried to plug the phone in, but, to Brad's surprise, a shower of sparks flew out of the wall. He then tried to run to the back door, but the couch he sat on not too long ago moved to block the way.
At this rate, there was only one way out: Brad's laptop. He logged in, and sure enough, there was an e-mail containing a link to a game.
The link transported Brad to a screen exactly like the one Jessica saw. The boss fight began, and the actor tried to evade Libricus. Also, like Jessica, Brad had a butcher knife, which he used to slash the monster. Libricus, like before, got angrier, but Brad managed to hurt him a second time. The last phase of the fight had the demon move even faster. Then, almost by sheer luck, Brad cut Libricus a third and final time.
"Try haunting that, you ugly son of a bitch!" Brad yelled at the screen.
Libricus froze in his tracks. However, he soon had a wry smile on his face.
THAT WAS JUST PHASE ONE.
He then pulled off his face to reveal a bloody skull. While Brad stared in shock, Libricus lunged forward and deeply plunged his dagger into the man's stomach. As the weapon got pulled out, blood started flowing out of the real Brad's wound down his body and into his socks, instantly soaking them.
On the laptop screen, Brad noticed his character now faced a now-flying boss. The creature moved as fast as before, but the pain was too great to fight effectively. Brad Kazinsky ran out of hearts, and Libricus declared,
CUT. THAT'S A WRAP.
A fast, slicing sound swept through the air. Brad's throat split open without delay, and blood sprayed all over the laptop screen. The last thing he saw before slumping into the keyboard was Libricus holding up his dagger in victory as the area around Brad became crimson.
