It was easier to drive to Seokjin's place than it should've been. But as he steps up to the familiar door, Jungkook's heart started pounding faster and faster.
His hands were shaky as he knocked, soft, barely even loud enough for anyone to hear. Maybe it wasn't loud enough. Maybe he could turn around and pretend he didn't even show up to begin with.
However, he heard the sound of the doorknob being fiddled with. He heard it being unlocked from the other side.
The door opened so slowly and Jungkook stood there like a fool, not knowing what to do or say as Seokjin, white cast on his hand, wearing grey sweats and a white t-shirt appeared.
He looked just about how Jungkook felt; drained. His eyes were simply set on Jungkook's eyes, probably observing how red and puffy they were. Hopefully, he won't question it.
"You came." Seokjin was the first to speak. His voice was low under the noisy construction going on somewhere nearby. "I knew you'd come," he muttered quietly.
Jungkook swallowed as much as he could. His throat was so dry that it hurt, but it had been like that all week. He's gotten used to it.
"Hyung," he mumbled. He wasn't sure what to say, really. Maybe just what he feels. "I-It hurts so much, hyung." But those words provoked more tears to form yet again.
Seokjin tilted his head and gave the younger a small knowing, caring smile. "I know it does, baby. Trust me. I know it hurts."
Those tears fell loose at the thought of Seokjin hurting over their breakup as well. He knew it would hurt them, and he's careless for hurting him, but he just wanted Seokjin to be happy in the future. That's all he wanted.
But he couldn't even let that happen.
"H-Hyung—"
"Please don't cry," Seokjin cut him off. "Come inside." He pulled the door open more and reached for Jungkook's hand, the touch only making him frown more.
He followed Seokjin into his house, towards the nearby couch, but he couldn't stop crying. It was hard to even see. They sat on the couch, Jungkook was wiping his tears away, and as he was about to say something, Seokjin was sniffling—
And oh god, Jungkook should not have looked over at him. If he hadn't seen those tears in Seokjin's eyes, he would've just been fine. He wouldn't have started pouring out more tears at the sight.
"H-Hyung, why are you crying?"
Seokjin scoffed. "Because of you, you brat. Why wouldn't I cry?" They both wiped their tears away, Jungkook with a slight chuckle as Seokjin groaned to himself, the cast in the way of wiping efficiently. "I didn't plan on crying," the older continued. "I'm sorry."
Jungkook shook his head. "Don't apologize. I don't want you feeling bad because of me. I'm the idiot who decided to try and make things better, but only made them worse."
"But it was going to be bad either way," Seokjin told him. "But you told me that you wanted to try and communicate better. That's why we're here in this situation. So please, please talk to me, bun."
Jungkook frowned.
He's always fucking things up when he doesn't even mean to. "I'm sorry, hyung," he sighed. "I panicked. I didn't want you to make a choice that you'd regret later."
"I'd never regret choosing you."
Seokjin's free hand landed on his, gentle squeeze as his tears finally dried up. Jungkook placed his other hand on top of his, but soon pulled both of them away.
He instead scurried towards Seokjin, ignoring the confused expression as he turned to face him, to throw his leg over him and straddle him.
He missed having Seokjin like this. He missed how caring and gentle he always is with him. Seokjin always knows just how to calm him down, and that's what he wants now.
He didn't even have to ask.
Seokjin wrapped his arms around his waist and pulled him in, not caring that Jungkook's cheeks were wet as he dug his face into Jin's neck. And Jungkook didn't care that Seokjin's cast was buried into his back.
"Hyung," Jungkook whispered into his skin. Seokjin was caressing his back, holding him so tightly, so close to him. "Before we continue, can I ask you one thing?" he asked.
Seokjin hummed in approval, the only sound other than the fan on in the corner of the open room.
Jungkook inhaled but stayed in place. He didn't want to see the look on Jin's face as he asked him the question.
"D-Do you think you will ever love me?" he asked, voice timid.
All he could hear now was a short chuckle from his— from Seokjin. "I think I already do, Jungkook-ah."
This time, Jungkook held his breath. He pulled away from Seokjin quickly, almost falling back off of the couch, but Jin's hands were hooking him in.
"Really?" he asked. He didn't mean to sound or act so shocked, but the way that he was presented with that soft smile made him think this was happening for real.
Seokjin laughed nervously this time. "Uh, well, yeah. What's not to love, honestly? Why else would I be so upset that you left me? You totally crushed my heart, Jeon."
His voice was too sincere and Jungkook's heart was too weak.
"I- I didn't mean to. I didn't want that to happen. I'm so sorry, I really am—"
"Then stay with me, Jungkook," Seokjin cut him off again. "Please. If you didn't mean to break my heart, then please don't leave it like this."
Jungkook does not have the strength to deal with the cheesy words leaving Seokjin's mouth. But he does have the courage to not leave him again.
"I will never."
He leaned in and pressed his lips into Seokjin's soft ones. The kiss was quick and sweet, and it was just to signify that he cares about Jin. To show he won't leave him.
But Seokjin looked up at him as he pulled away, still seeming to be confused. "You'll never leave me or you'll never stay with me?"
Jungkook rolled his eyes. "Wow. You're making me reconsider this already."
"It's a serious question! You made it confusing. You have to say which one you were saying 'never' to."
"I'll never leave you for as long as you never leave me," Jungkook stated more clearly this time. "I even kissed you. Why are you confused?"
"Because we still don't know how to solve our issue, Jungkook."
Right.
Jungkook crossed his arms behind Seokjin's neck and rested his forehead against his.
"If you say you can love me," he started slow and easy, making sure that Seokjin can clearly understand what he's saying, "then in the future, I can try. I'll try to make our family happy."
Seokjin's hand halted, no longer caressing Jungkook's back. "Family?"
"Yes," Jungkook nodded. "If you'll love me, then I'll be happy to sacrifice, just like you wanted to."
"But... you don't want children."
He shrugged. "I'm trying to change my mind, okay? It'll be a while before we even think of that happening. I will do the best I can, hyung. I promise."
"What're you saying, bun?" Seokjin's voice was quieter this time.
"If you want a family, then you're going to be including me in it, because I'm not leaving, hyung. Is that clear?"
"So you're not leaving?"
Jungkook rolled his eyes once again. "What's up with you today? I'm trying to help us out here."
Seokjin frowned. "But you didn't want a family. Why are you changing your mind suddenly?"
"Because I thought about it. If you would sacrifice your future, then I'm going to tell you now, I'll sacrifice myself first. Besides, it'll be sort of cute, us being dads. I'd like that, hyung."
"Us being dads." Seokjin pouted his plump lips up at Jungkook, as cute as Jungkook remembers. (It's only been a week..) "You're going to make me cry, Jungkook-ah."
But the younger simply giggled back at him. "So can I please have you back? I apologize for leaving you. It was a very in-the-moment thing."
"I understand," Seokjin assured him. "But if you ever want to leave me again, please talk to me about it first."
"Won't happen," Jungkook stated. "I won't be leaving you ever again."
He leaned in and pressed his lips against Jin's again, this time with no intention to stop placing kisses all over him, and with no tears left to pour.
No more tears to cry. Only giggles and affection to give.
