Jungkook answered his phone, ready to chat with his boyfriend, ready to fully apologize to him, but before he could even say anything, he heard what sounded like himself on the other end of the phone.
Moaning, mewling on the other end.
He immediately blushed upon hearing himself, then the blush deepened as he realized that Seokjin was watching one of their videos, probably the recent one that dropped today.
"Hyung! Why are you watching that?" he quickly asked.
Seokjin chuckled, clearly had the phone on speaker so he'd hear it. "I'm watching the video to see if we did well."
"Of course, we— I- I mean, since when do we ever really do bad? Why do you have to watch it?"
"You don't watch them?" Seokjin questioned.
Jungkook put his phone on speaker and blinked a few times, flustered at the question. "Well, yeah."
"Then what's so weird about me watching it?" Seokjin laughed lightly as some other faint sounds played through Jungkook's phone. "You look so pretty in this video, bun."
"W-Why are you watching it right now? During our call?"
He could basically hear Seokjin's smirk as he said "I wanted to see how shy you'd get about it."
"Hyung~" he whined.
"Okay, okay, I'll turn it off." The extra voices faded away and he could hear some shuffling on the other end of the phone. "I just wanted to call you and tell you goodnight."
Jungkook rolled over into his bed and snuggled in, brought the blanket close to his chin, and set his phone on the pillow next to his.
"That's all?" he asked in a whisper.
The phone went silent for a moment. Not awkward. Just lingering.
"Well," Seokjin eventually said, his voice low and so, so welcoming to Jungkook. So gentle, as always. So familiar. Just like home. "It's been raining all day."
"Huh?" Jungkook asked. "What does that mean?"
"I've sat here and watched it rain all day long," Seokjin told him. "I thought about you, mostly, though."
Jungkook frowned as he realized just how petty he was being earlier. He had even deliberately tweeted photos with Mark and every little thing they did together.
"Hyung, I'm so sorry for today."
"Don't be," Seokjin muttered. "Just... Can we just talk? I missed your voice. Is that weird?"
He shook his head to himself as a smile formed on his lips. "Not at all, hyung." Jungkook misses not only Seokjin's voice as well, but him in general.
"So," Seokjin continued, "I'm not a terribly huge cuddler, but I miss cuddling you so damn bad, bun. Especially at night. Why do I miss you so much?"
He misses sleeping cuddled up to Seokjin as well. Misses the warmth and soft breathing next to him as he slowly falls asleep.
"Because you like me." Jungkook giggled lightly at his own words. It's true. That's the reason why Jin misses him.
Seokjin seemed to agree, humming in return to the soft giggles. "I like you a lot, baby. You're right."
But they seemed to go silent again, suddenly taking in those words. I like you. They really like each other. That's why they're boyfriends. But something about those words...
It deserves more, in Jungkook's eyes, because the more time he spends in Seokjin's arms, the more he realizes he's actually just falling deeper and deeper. Like is an understatement.
"Goodnight, bun," Seokjin cut off those thoughts. Those buried deep down thoughts in the back of Jungkook's mind.
"Goodnight. I'll see you tomorrow, hyung. Sleep well, please." Jungkook stopped himself from saying anything more. It's too soon for anything other than that.
