One:Three

Coleena had slammed the door to their house shut with a flick of her wrist. She could feel it all bubbling over in the pit she stored. Her hatred for Jasper Hale, the fear of what he was capable of. Not the draining of blood. Not the fact that he could kill her in a second. The fact that Jasper held her heart. All thanks to the soulmate bond.

"Hey Leena-" Ashley's voice had been shoved to the side as Coleena raced up the stairs, she was supposed to be training with Ashley and Davina tonight. Practicing her shields, reflexes. Next week they would focus on offensive magic. Coleena just did not feel like going into the basement.

Before she reached her door she had already slammed it open and then shut again before she sat down on her bed. Despite training Coleena had despised her magic, she had never gotten the hang of it. Often times her emotions ran her magic.

She closed her eyes sucking in a deep breath as she held her head in her hands. Count it down. Think of anything else. Coleena hadn't known that the bed she sat on was floating, the dresser and desk right next to it with the pots for her plants moving all around. Stray clothing everything that wasn't nailed down had been floating surrounded by a blue light.

"Coleena Marie Caster!" Davina's voice boomed through the room making her snap her eyes open in shock, right before she plummeted to the ground alongside everything else. The dresser had tipped over and the pot smashed to pieces. "What are you doing? I thought you were over this?" She rambled out questions just as Ashley entered.

Davina and Coleena watched as the objects flown around the room glowed a black color before being realigned in the right places. Coleena sighed heavily as Davina held out a bracelet. A simple silver chain filled with a few charms-charms that blocked Coleena's magic completely.

Witches used them when they were just discovering their powers. It was dangerous to wear them once getting a good handle on your magic, it could lead to losing your magic completely. Which left you vulnerable to vampires. While not hunted down vampires still posed a great threat. Some being bitter over the war as others just hunting for something new.

It left the witch drained physically and magically. To the point that while going through this transition, death was more common. In turn Coleena never wore it but packed it in case she couldn't control her emotions enough in school.

"What's going on with you?" Ashley asked placing a hand on Davina's shoulder. Davina had never seen her daughter act this way. The only time it had happened was when her father had left- when she first discovered her powers at 13.

It was the reason offensive magic wore her out, she didn't want to be anything like the man she despised. The man she hadn't talked too since she was 15, the man she wished she didn't know. "I found him." She whispered out the three words making Davina and Ashley share a look.

"Found who?" Davina asked a sweet voice as she sat on the bed next to Coleena, Ashley had kneeled down next to the two women. Ashley Caster had led the Caster Coven. Davina didn't want the responsibility and Ashley had been more than willing. They were their own coven with their own rules.

"My soulmate." Coleena threw out her eyes blurring with tears. She hated today. If she could go back and never touch Jasper Hale, she would. She would give anything for the chance.

"That's great!" Davina called out excitedly clapping her hands. A small glint of happiness and relief knowing her daughter wouldn't go through what she had. However as Ashley elbowed her lightly Davina realized her daughter was upset. "Baby?" She asked and Coleena sniffed wiping at her nose.

"It's terrible!" Coleena sobbed finally allowing the tears to fall. Coleena had been inconsolable to Davina. However as Ashley grabbed onto Coleena her hands placed on the sides of her neck Ashley had managed to calm Coleena down.

"I'm scared! Ashley! I never wanted this."

Ashley gave a sympathetic look before pulling away as Coleena placed her head onto Davina's shoulder. Despite not having any blood relation to Ashley both could look into the mind.

As Ashley touched Davina's hand she cast her daughter a look before grabbing her hand. "My love, you've waited your whole life for your soulmate. What makes this scary?" Had that been true? Yes. Now in present time? No?

"You and dad, it was terrible!"

"Loving isn't easy." Ashley started off giving her a small smile. "You'll figure out. Find a way. Things won't be bad." Ashley comforted to which Coleena shifted slightly.

"If it is? He's a vampire." Coleena cried out gripping onto Ashely's shoulders tightly. Her anxiety was overflowing at this point. Davina looked towards her soulmate, her green eyes mixing with Ashley's brown one.

"Who cares?" Davina asked looking into her daughters blue eyes, the ones she shared with her father. Coleena looked to the side avoiding her mothers green eyes before Davina grabbed her hand. At the eye contact she smiled.

"Vampire or not, this will be your best experience!" Davina carried on and before Coleena could argue about it, she stood up. "Now, basement in thirty." She bent slightly at the door before smiling at Coleena.

Coleena looked towards Ashley. Ashley rolled her eyes and Coleena let out a sigh as Davina left through the door, both girls shared a small laugh before Ashley put her hand on Coleena's cheek.

"Don't worry. This is your story, no one else's."

Ashley stood up and followed Davina out the door leaving Coleena to fiddle with the charms. Despite her moms words ringing in her head it didn't dissipate the anxiety she was feeling. Anything could happen. More over what of the Volturi? If they knew anything about this no doubt it would be a big deal.

No one had heard of a witches soulmate being a vampire for over hundreds of years, was it even possible for them to pursue something happily along side each other? Coleena glanced at the clock before jumping up slightly. "Momma!"

"Yes dear?" Davina's voice was heard from the living room as Coleena grabbed a jacket and the key that was still hanging by her bedroom door.

"Can I go out?"

"Out where?" Coleena rolled her eyes before running down stairs to see Davina on the couch and Ashley in the kitchen.

"To the library, instead of training how about research? Besides I've got this-" Coleena raised her wrist to show the bracelet for emphasis. "-going on right now, training wouldn't really help." She stated and as Ashley went to say 'no' Davina answered faster.

"Of course! Do change though, you know the reputation we must uphold as Casters." Davina nodded more to herself as Ashley looked dumbfounded.

"Hey you can't just-" Ashley stuttered out before she started again. "We can't let her go there without magic! What if something happens!" Ashley stressed and Coleena looked at her dumbfounded while Davina just laughed.

"Then she better figure it out! Don't you remember being her age?" Davina asked and Coleena silently backed away before rushing up the stairs.

Coleena blocked out their arguing as she changed into a dark blue knee length dress, it hung off her shoulders, while flaring out at the knees with ruffles. Coleena hated going to the witching world. The vampires had Voltura and witches had their own space separated slightly. Only a witch with their own special key to access the world, and it could only be used with the holder's possession.

Many witches choose to stay in their world rather than live amongst the humans, for good reason. Not a lot of witches wanted to live amongst the people who had been responsible for the Salem witch trials. Collin Masters was a man who shared the ideal that witches shouldn't live among them. Davina Caster was apart of a family who believed that with trust humans could overcome their own flaws.

It was one of the many reasons that they didn't last. Davina had stayed for Collin and the second they split she left the world, however that didn't change the fact that the Caster coven had once been a very powerful coven of witches. Something that Coleena would always have to uphold anytime she visited.

Coleena let out a frustrated sigh as she rubbed at her eyes, the contacts had been bothering her eyes for a while now. She didn't know what time it was but she was determined to find something more than what she found.

With the hope that she would find some comfort in allowing herself to love him. She was secretly holding out hope that they could live happily side by side.

She'd been going over the history between vampires and witches all night. Reading through every record she could find of soulmate bonds between a witch and vampire. They were more common when the two creatures were working together but it fizzled out with the war, not much else was recorded afterwards.

As Coleena leaned back in her chair she looked at her watch before shooting out of the chair. She had been in the library all night, she needed to be at school in an hour. As Coleena rushed to leave the library and make her way back to her own world she stopped suddenly, feeling a familiar presence close by.

She looked over the shelves and watched as a man with black hair and blue eyes sat with two kids. A girl and a boy, both having the same blue eyes and golden blonde hair that was contradicting to her own.

Coleena felt her breath get caught in her throat as she suddenly sat down in between the shelves. Knees pulled up to her chest as she listened to the children laugh. A yearning in her heart taking place over the anxiety, hope and fear she felt.

——————————
The Cullens had just sat down at the table all anxious to how Jasper was feeling. When they had found out Coleena wasn't at school that morning Jasper had stressed himself out so bad that the siblings were getting tired of trying to help.

"What if she just decided to leave town?" He asked as he shoved his food around on his plate, the honey blonde vampire looked utterly exhausted.

"Alice would've seen." Emmett suggested before Rosalie elbowed him harshly. A glare directed towards him making him smile weakly.

"She wouldn't have." She stated before moving the way she had her legs crossed. She twirled her hair as she eyed Lukas and Alice. "Isn't that right?" She asked and everyone looked towards Alice.

"I wouldn't have." Alice confirmed and everyone watched as Jasper deflated before Edward spoke up.

"That doesn't mean that she did leave though." Edward spoke trying to be optimistic which had made Luke laugh so loudly everyone had turned to look at their table.

"Poor Edward, Jasper dampen his mood." Luke teased as Edward scoffed. As his mouth opened to retort back it fell into a smirk at hearing the annoyed inner monologue of the only girl the Cullens had their eyes on. As Jasper glanced over at his brother, the excitement rolling off the other vampire grabbing his attention he looked away from the cafeteria doors.

The slamming of them opening had the chatter die down and as Jasper caught her scent his shoulders relaxed as he looked over. All the Cullens watched as Angela got up to hug the witch. The shocking thing was that instead of stiffening Coleena smiled.

"Can't she hear her thoughts?" Luke questioned as Edward shrugged. There was no denying something was off about the female in question. Not only was she late on her second day, her appearance was entirely different compared to yesterday.

While she was in jeans and a long sleeve yesterday, today she was in a blue knee length dress that looked too formal for school. Glasses sat on her face and her black hair had been pulled back into two pigtails trailing down her back. The girl who seemed overly annoyed with touch and being nervous was nowhere seen here today.

Coleena Caster looked utterly exhausted. As Angela pulled her to the table Mike Newton had been the one to catch their attention. Despite her looking as if she came from a party. "Woah Leena! Pull an all nighter." He teased as the table laughed and Coleena rolled her eyes.

"Something like that." She mumbled and despite feeling exhaustion rolling off of her Jasper seemed to know there was more to the story. As Coleena glanced over and met the eyes of Jasper Hale, he finally felt something roll off of the girl.

The anger that had been burning there yesterday seemed to burn ten-thousand times more today than yesterday. The southern vampires brows furrowed as he stared back at her. Why was just the sight of him making her angry? Was him being her a soulmate really such a bad thing?

"I think there's more to the story." Edward's voice snapped him out of his thoughts as he looked towards his siblings. Alice's vision had yet to change but where it had gotten foggy last night Jasper could tell by her surprise that it was the same.

"Maybe you should talk to her." Emmett suggested a smirk pulling at his face before Edward kicked his chair. A irritated look showing on his features. Emmett had wanted to see Jasper get shot down just for amusement. "I'm kidding! She'll come around."

Jasper rolled his eyes as he watched Coleena rest her head on Angela's shoulders. Listening to the conversation at the table, would she really come around? He could truly only hope.

————————————
Walking into his class after lunch he had expected Coleena to be sitting there with a scowl on her face, however as he arrived in the class he noticed her head resting on the desk her eyes closed and breathing slowed.

Her glasses were placed towards the end of the table where he himself was nervous that they would fall off. Her emotions were a mess of stress and fear, even as she slept. A sad smile tugged at his lips as he watched her breathe in and out.

Someone so beautiful was struggling all because of himself, would it be terrible to say that he was slightly happy? Someone losing sleep over him and hating the idea of being with him? It was still more than he felt in centuries. The real question was only why she felt the hatred she felt.

Jasper sent a flurry of calming and happy emotions towards the witch before he slid his brown leather jacket off. Wrapping it around her shoulders careful not to touch her before he took his seat, the silent hope that the bell wouldn't wake her up lingering in his heart.

Even if this was the only way to see her face look so peaceful, he would be alright with it. If sitting beside Coleena while she sleeps, simply inhaling her sweet scent. Not in the sweet way that he wants to drain her, but the sweet in the refreshing spring air.

Silently watching over her. Jasper Hale could live with that. As Jasper noticed the teachers irritation towards the girl sleeping beside him, he changed it to indifference before he continued his notes.

Jasper looked towards Coleena taking in her peaceful expression, the fall of the hairs framing her face, the yearning he felt to push them back, the charm bracelet she wore on her right wrist. As the bell rang and she jolted opening her eyes he smiled at her softly.

Her piercing blue eyes, meeting his own gold ones. Placing her glasses next to her arm he nodded his head. With his books placed in his hands he stood up walking out of the classroom to meet Alice's bright smile and overwhelming happiness.

"Im so excited!" She exclaimed grabbing his hand to pull him along to their next class together. "I don't know what you did, but things are back on track!" Her emotions made Jasper sigh before letting out a small smile, things were turning around? Was that really possible?

—————————
As the bell rang and Coleena woke up to Jasper's golden eyes, and a small smile towards her she watched him place her glasses down. Her heart skipped a beat as she watched him walk out of the room before she noticed the jacket that she hadn't worn to school fall off her shoulders.

Coleena felt her cheeks flush as she noticed an extra set of papers in his spot with a sticky note placed on top.

Hope you slept well, keep the notes ma'am. No worries about the jacket.

Scrambling she draped the jacket over her arm before gathering her things and continuing on to her next class, cheeks flaring slightly as she made her way to the last class of the day. Jasper Hale's chivalry on her mind, and the sticky note placed in the holder on her thigh.

As she made eye contact with the one and only Edward Cullen she sucked in a breath harshly. The harsh reality slapping her in the face, like an ice cold breeze.

Love only causes problems.

Love only brings sadness to people who don't cherish it, and at the end of the day there's no way for you to know if the person you love will cherish it. Thinking back to her mother and her fathers love is the only motivation she needs.

The only reminder she needs to know in her heart that loving someone will only end in sadness. What more could the world take?

Taking a deep breath she took her seat behind Edward only to look out the window. Thinking like that won't change facts. She can't trust Jasper, she can't trust any man. Coleena can't allow herself to let go of those thoughts. No matter what, love isn't in the cards for her.

"Woah! Where'd you get the jacket, it's like it appeared out of thin air." Mikes words brought her out of her inner thoughts before she felt herself freeze. Her fathers words wringing in her ears about trusting humans, if they were to get too suspicious- it's not always like that.

Break it out. A sigh and a tired smile lifted Coleena's face before she answered. "Draped over me last period." Mike seemed to rub his chin for a second before he had a thought pop into his head.

"Who was it?"

Jasper's face crossed her thoughts and she felt herself blush as her heart sped up. "No clue." She mumbled before Mr.Molina entered to start the class. However the whole lesson the girl fiddled with the jacket, would it really be okay to keep it?

As the bell rang signaling the end of the lesson Edward turned to look back at Coleena and Mike shocking both of them.

"He won't mind." He stated simply before getting up to the leave the class, leaving behind a blushing Coleena Caster and a confused Mike Newton.
