ONE:SEVEN

*EDITED
Reminder that the italics written- "{Like this}" are what Coleena are hearing in her head AND words written like- "he wished she would listen and feel what he was." Is just simple more in depth feeling to the words? Like a highlight to it to emphasize the point of the words. She's not hearing that in her head. Only sentences STARTED AND ENDED in italics is what she's hearing.

She felt it before her world was sucked from her. The cold hard grip on her wrist as she stopped falling. She watched it all as Jasper held onto her, guilt forming in his gut as he watched her glazed over blue eyes. He could hold onto her weight hanging entirely only relying on him all day, he was more nervous than anything. The things she must've been seeing.

She watched as Major Jasper Whitlock, who took pride in his work was changed into something....otherworldly.

She watched as Maria had used him entirely, only benefiting herself and never thinking of Jasper at all. She watched as Jasper helped Peter escape to be with his mate, only for Peter to return for Jasper as well.

She watched him leave despite being fearful and love Maria still. She watched as Peter and Charolette were there for him every step of the way. Despite the depression he had fallen into. She admired them for that.

She watched as Jasper parted ways with them only to wind up walking into the diner where Alice was waiting for him. She felt his hope for the words Alice had been telling him to be true.

She watched as he restrained Lukas for trying to harm Alice only for the petite vampire to smile. She watched as they bickered before Lukas finally believed the other two vampires and decided to go on the diet.

She watched as they all traveled together, solidifying their bond as a coven. She watched as they met the rest of the Cullens, and she watched as over the years Jasper lost his hope for her.

She watched as he gained it back and stayed with another family in Alaska. To better control his thirst all for her. She watched as she appeared through his eyes, the loving emotions he felt towards her.

As her eyes refocused they unfocused as tears filled them. She looked down to see her feet barely off the ground. She knew he wouldn't have touched her if it wasn't dire, she couldn't help but be surprised. He respected her wish for as long as possible. "Coleena?" He asked and his thoughts flooded through her brain.

"What if she's angry? What if she stops talking to me? What if she shuts us all out? What if she leaves? What if she's disappointed in me?"

"You can put me down." She stated almost numbly. Jasper nodded swiftly before letting go of her wrist completely.

"Right. Of course." She felt her weight push into the ground as she landed before rubbing her wrist. "Does it hurt?" He asked looking worried towards the thought of her well-being. Coleena nodded after a pregnant pause. "May I see it?" She felt her heart hammer against her ribs as she held her arm out shyly.

Her cheeks burned red as he pulled back her sleeves. A bruised handprint already forming on her tan skin. She felt embarrassed entirely for falling and having to have Jasper grab her hard enough to bruise her. This was her fault.

"I knew it. I should've been more careful I-"

"Jasper." Her soft voice broke his train of thought as she gripped his hand in hers. She brought her other hand up to his cheek. "It's not your fault. Thank you." She spoke softly and honestly. Her emotions were only honest and truthful as she spoke these words.

He gripped her hand tightly as he leaned into her hand. The warmth he felt against his cheek, he closed his eyes. Wishing for this moment to never end ever. He felt Coleena pull her hands away to cut off his thoughts. "Listen I-"

"Don't tell me." He spoke a desperation filled in his tone. He knew what she was going to say. He could feel it through her emotions. "Just let me hold you, since I can finally touch you." She hesitated but as Jasper opened his arms wide for her she fell into his embrace.

She couldn't lie. She had been wanting this just as bad. He sunk onto his butt back against the tree as she sat in between his legs. Both holding tightly onto each other.

"Memorize it. It might be the last time. The way her heartbeats, her scent, the feel of her hair, her emotions. Remember it."

She felt guilt surround her but held it back as she leaned her ear to his chest, where a heartbeat for someone normal would be. Why couldn't she be normal? If she were normal could they be having this kind of intimacy all the time? Was she the problem?

If she were normal she wouldn't mind being held onto.

"Jasper, I can't give you more than friendship." Her voice full of certainty but her emotions full of turmoil.

"I know."

"I'm sorry." She spoke her voice sounding strained and her emotions feeling utterly exhausted.

"You've got nothing to be sorry for."

"I know." She replied and just as he thought that was it she spoke again. "I'm sorry." She spoke her heart yearning for something she didn't know. He seemed to know, he wouldn't think it.

"I know." His voice sounded and her heart felt as though it would shatter entirely in her chest. Probably like his was as he pulled her closer to his chest.

"It's nothing against you." She assured as she pulled away cupping his face in her hands, his arms wrapped loosely around her, her blue eyes staying on his very light golden ones. "It's-If you-"

"Kiss me." He spoke a pleading in his voice she had never heard.

"What-"

"Kiss me. Just once." At her hesitance he spoke once more. "Coleena, please."

She felt her heart race as her body felt flushed. Jasper looked at her so desperately so entranced by her that she felt shy. He moved one hand to rest on her shoulder blade and his other to hold onto her waist. "Please." He breathed out and she felt her heart stutter. Could she really do this?

She leaned in as he pulled her closer. His eyes staring into her eyes as their noses brushed, she felt his breath fan her lips and she hastily pressed her lips to his. The ice cold feeling of his lips against hers lighting some spark through her body.

It felt like electricity as she wove her hands into his hair. She had never felt anything like it before. Although his thoughts were filling her head they seemed to only mix in with her own. Like she was hearing them but she wasn't hearing them. It was amazing.

She felt him grip her waist hard causing her to gasp, he pulled away hastily and she looked up at him confused. Why would he? She looked dazed and flushed and Jasper would be lying if he didn't find the sight absolutely lovely.

"Why?" She asked a sadness and yearning to her emotions and Jasper knew if he could, he would be bright red with embarrassment. He still held his grip on her waist. He didn't want to stop. The venom in his mouth had made him stop.

She could be changed with that. He didn't want that, more than anything he didn't want to stop. "We can't go any further."

"Hey I'm-"

"Sorry." He spoke and she smiled softly. He didn't know about her, she admired his respect towards her and the amount of love she knew he carried. She admired him for who he was.

"It's alright. So, do you know where Peter and Charlotte are now? I'd love to meet them." Jasper looked at her quizzically as she leaned against the tree beside him.

"You'd like...to meet them?"

"Of course, there're a friend of my friend, which makes them my friend." She smiled gingerly at him and he exhaled. A small smile on his lips. They both knew they were more than just friends, Coleena just couldn't admit it to herself. She was scared, but he didn't mind waiting. He'd waited this long.

"Right. I'm not quite sure. We could always look though." She seemed to think it through before she smiled and nodded.

"I'd like that." It was quite between them before she spoke up breaking it. He knew she was debating telling him something, he just hadn't expected it to be this serious. "I waited my whole life for you, Jasper Hale." She spoke and looked into his eyes. He felt as though his heart was beating again.

"I would never do anything to harm you, or bring you pain. Not on purpose." She knew he was telling her the truth, yet a part of her wondered if her dad had told her mom the same, with the same truth behind his words. Till something better came along.

"I know." She spoke and at her feelings feeling withdrawn Jasper smiled grabbing her hand.

"I'm okay with being friends. As long as you want. Whatever you want."

Coleena smiled as she leaned her head onto his shoulder, still holding tightly onto his hand. Maybe they didn't have to date. There was no one else for her.

After all they had all the time in the world.

                        —————————

Jasper and Coleena discussed ways that she could advance her magic, so if she should ever fall again they would be better prepared. She promised to make time to study at the library in the city. However as they raced to the Cullen house both were unprepared for the unrelenting questions Alice and Carlisle had.

After an hour of discussions it was concluded that Alice wouldn't be allowed to touch Coleena, due to Coleena not wanting to know of her future with Jasper. Coleena had touched all but Alice in terms of the Cullens so they were all free to do it. As Carlisle was getting ready to leave for work Coleena had followed him out, standing by his car.

"How long will he have with you?" She felt her cheeks flush as she met Carlisle's black eyes. Despite both of them being different she had never felt this type of fatherly affection. "How long will all of us?" He asked as he grabbed her hands in his.

His cold touch soothed her sweaty palms as she smiled slightly. Her black hair falling into her face. "A long time." She replied as Carlisle smiled relieved.

"Long in our years or-"

"I'm not aging anymore." She blurted out and Carlisle's eyes filled with sympathy, she rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet nervously as he released her hands.

"I'm sorry." She could hear how sincere he was through his tone, despite not looking at his face. Was she ashamed? What did he have to be sorry for? Sorry for ruining her plan, her life? For her moving to forks? It felt as though it ran deeper. "Is there-"

"I'm not aging and..." she paused as she finally met his eyes, her blue ones shinning with something he couldn't decipher. "I'm never going to be able to become a vampire, I'll die, but never of old age, I'll never be as cold as you and I'll be able to sleep. I'll be able to do everything humans can and are required too but I'll still forever be frozen at the age of seventeen." She explained as he nodded solemnly.

"Will you still be able to change physically?" Coleena gave him a sad smile as she shook her head no.

"It's unfortunately the way the soulmate bond works when a witch and a vampire are soulmates. My body will never change, I'll be the same as I am today, for the rest of my existence." Carlisle exhaled as he got into his car. He paused slightly as he looked back at her.

"I'm truly sorry this has happened to you." She gave him a short nod as she wrapped her arms behind her back.

"It's the way it was always supposed to be I suppose." She spoke gently as he smiled and held his hand out. As she grasped it once more he brought it to his lips. Kissing the back of her hand gently.

"Welcome to the rest of your life."

She smiled so softly and happily at him before surprising him with her words.

"I'm excited for what it has to offer."

Despite the knowledge that she never wanted to meet her soulmate she would be lying if she wasn't excited to see what living with her soulmate would be like. Devastated she would one day have to say goodbye to her parents, yet she couldn't seem to dwell on it. She was devastated that any chance she had at normal was gone but as she watched Carlisle leave the drive to go to work she couldn't help but wonder if this was truly what she would be content with.

Was this truly something she was okay with? She had never had a problem with vampires, of course she had never met one until right now. Maybe this was another reason Alice touching her made her so anxious. She knew that once Alice touched her and she finally saw how happy she could truly be with Jasper and his family, that there would truly be no going back. She would offer herself and everything she had to give up to Jasper and his family, because that's what loving someone meant.

Giving pieces of yourself to them and hoping they do it in return.

"What are you thinkin so hard about?" Jasper's southern voice flooded her ears and she smiled a sad soft smile. Was there even a point in trying to hide her emotions and thoughts from him? How would she be able to do that?

"If I told you I'd have no secrets for myself." She turned a teasing smile taking over her features. Jasper smiled slightly as he exhaled a soft sigh.

"That's very true ma'am." He spoke his whole body relaxed as he stood straight beside her. Every fiber of his being content with just being beside her.

"You'll just have to stick around long enough to find out." She spoke as the wind blew, her hair shifting with the winds. Her cheeks a nice red due to the cold, and the flushed feeling she was feeling with being beside him. Jasper bowed slightly one arm behind him and the other bent in front of him. He was closer to her level now as he bowed to tease her.

"I guess you'll be stuck with me for a long time darlin." Coleena felt her heart squeeze painfully as she brought her hand to his cheek. He closed his eyes leaning into her warmth, memorizing the feel of her touch. She knew he could feel it. The fear she felt, the longing, the anxious feelings that followed. Her happiness.

"I'm scared." She shut her eyes tightly and whispered softly, he straightened up holding his hand over hers. She didn't have to open her eyes to know he was looking at her face.

"I know."

She opened her eyes to meet his as he moved her hand to his lips, he pressed a sweet gentle kiss to her palm as she relaxed slightly. "We'll figure it all out. I promise." He told her as he grabbed her other hand moving it to his chest, along side the hand he had just kissed. "Is there anythin else darlin?" He asked and her blue eyes welled with tears slightly. "Anythin I can promise ya?"

"Promise you won't leave. No matter what happens, I'm scared something is going to shift."

"Even if the world fell apart I'd never stay away." He spoke as she rested her hands against his chest.

"Jasper I'm serious." She scolded slightly and he chuckled lightly. His laugh sending goosebumps down her skin.

"So am I." She felt her face flush as he looked her right in her eyes. "You will now and forever always be my main priority." She blushed as he pressed a kiss to her forehead. He released her and took a step back as she brought her hand up to her forehead to touch the middle. It was still cold from his lips, and they were oddly soft. "Now, shall I escort you home?"

Realization suddenly crashed into her as she remembered she hadn't driven here. "You shall." She teased as he brought her towards the garage.

"Don't worry, I have my own bike." He watched with a soft smile and soft look in his eyes as he saw her visibly brighten, the excitement rolling off of her and onto him almost ten-fold.

"Really?" She asked almost bouncing up and down and he nodded lightly.

"Really." He confirmed. They were on their way back towards her house, her arms wound tightly against his middle as her hair blew in the wind, the cold spreading all throughout her face. She had never felt more free and safe than on the back of the bike of her soulmate. A hopeful feeling flowing through her head and down to her feet, radiating right into Jasper.

Jasper touched his hand to her hands held atop his stomach as he held her hand, a hopeful flint in his eyes as he rode with one hand. Making sure to keep his mind focused on the road so she wouldn't hear all the hopeful things he was thinking. She deserved the peace she was feeling. He just hoped he could continue to give it to her.
