Till the end
Heyy
I'm sorry it's taken time so long to update, I had a Welsh mock (which went TeRRibLE) and we have 3 really important science tests next week so I'm going to be revising a lot. After they're over I should be able to update as often as I did before. Also I've published a royalty au so I'm going to be working on that a lot too.
If you don't like death then I suggest that you skip this chapter, honestly I've been planning to write this for so long but it turned out nothing like I expected ahhh
Sorry for the grammar mistakes, I've read over it once so I hope there aren't many.
Thanks for reading, enjoy!

Sleep wouldn't come to Yuuri no matter how hard he tried. He tossed and turned, hoping that he would finally fall asleep, but nothing seemed to be working. Even being in the arms of his boyfriend didn't help him. He looked up at Viktor who was sleeping peacefully, light snores emitting from him. He got up and sat at the edge of his bed. He rubbed his eyes before reaching over to the bedside table and grabbing his phone.
(3) Missed calls from Yuko❄️
(8) new messages from Izo Suoh (cuntbag)
Yuuri quickly typed in his password and called Yuko back. It rang a few times before he was greeted with the sound of her voice.
"Yuuri! You were amazing in your short program! Keep it up tomorrow!"
"Make us proud!"
"We'll be watching tomorrow for sure!"
Yuuri tensed up and immediately regretted his decision to call Yuko back. His heart sank and he could feel the nerves in him stomach increase at her and her family's words. Expectations for him were high, and the last time that happened, everything had come crumbling down around him. He never wanted to experience that again.
He quickly said goodbye to his family back home before hanging up. He let his phone fall out of his hands before curling up in a ball on the bed. He buried his face into the pillow as he left his thoughts to consume him again.
What was he going to do? He knew that there was now hardly any chance of him getting any sleep but he had to rest if he wanted to do well in his free skate. He didn't want a repeat of last year's Grand Prix Final where he fucked up everything. If he didn't do well in the qualifying rounds, then that would mean that any hopes for the final would be obliterated and Viktor would leave him to go back to his home country. He would have disappointed Viktor.
And that was something he was terrified of doing.
----------
"You haven't slept, have you?"
Viktor shook his head as he questioned his student. Yuuri was a mess- he could barley hold himself together he was so tired. He looked dreadful too, his hair looked like a birds nest and the dark circles around his eyes were obvious.
Yuuri tried to protest, but Viktor was having none of it.
He dragged Yuuri away from morning practice- they'd been at the rink for a good three hours and it was obvious that Yuuri was exhausted. He was going to be fine anyway, Viktor knew that Yuuri was capable of delivering an amazing program later on, he just needed sleep. He led his boyfriend back to their hotel (which was right next to the arena luckily) and put him to bed.
"You know, I always used to sleep before competitions. You'll be fine, love." Viktor patted Yuuri's head gently as he put the quilt over him. He smiled down at Yuuri before laying down on the younger man's chest so that he could hear the steady beat of his heart.
"V-Viktor, did you set an alarm?" Yuuri asked his boyfriend, but only got a small 'mmm' in response. Yuuri sighed and closed his eyes. Viktor was warm, extremely warm, and his presence beside him made him feel loved.
"I can hear your heart beat." Viktor mumbled as he tightened his arms around Yuuri. Yuuri giggled.
"Well I definitely hope that you can." Yuuri shot back. "I'd be dead otherwise"
"Shhh my love, try and get some sleep our you'll actually be dead when it comes to your free skate." Viktor whispered quietly.
Yuuri Shut his eyes and eventually drifted off to sleep. Viktor watched him closely as his chest rose and fell slowly. He smiled to himself and moved up to place a kiss on Yuuri's cheek. He adored him so much. He brushed his hair back out of his face before wrapping his arms tightly around his student and falling asleep slowly.
A few hours later, Yuuri woke up to someone lightly shaking him. He opened his eyes slowly, only to be greeted with Viktor's amazing eyes. He jumped in surprise and a huge blush enveloped across his face. Viktor signaled for him to get out of bed and Yuuri huffed before standing up and rubbing his eyes.
"You better start getting ready. We don't have long until the competition starts..." Viktor ruffled Yuuri's hair before grabbing his costume and placing it on the bed for him. Yuuri gulped.
"I-uh, Viktor? Could you t-turn around?" Yuuri stuttered. Viktor smiled slightly before walking around to the other side of the bed and sitting down with his back to Yuuri. "Thanks."
"You're going to do great today Yuuri, the whole of Japan will be cheering you on. Everyone's expecting a lot from you!" Viktor chirped as he scrolled through his social media.
"O-oh..." Yuuri felt his heart sink. He slipped into his leotard before pulling on his trousers. Expectations from people wasn't something that Yuuri coped with very well. The very thought of letting the people he loved down was enough to crush him.
"Yuuri? Is there something wrong?" Viktor asked with a hint of concern in his voice. Yuuri hesitantly shook his head before putting on the jacket to his costume. "You just went so...quiet all of a sudden."
"A-ah, I'm fine..." Yuuri tried to smile slightly at Viktor to reassure him. Viktor leaned over and ruffled Yuuri's hair.
"C'mon, come over here so I can do your hair." Viktor patted the bed next to him. Yuuri shuffled over and sighed as Viktor pulled out a comb and some hair gel. Yuuri turned around so that his back was facing Viktor. He combed Yuuri's hair back and ran his hair through the soft strands before adding some gel. "Your hair smells like lavender."
"Well that's funny because I used the lavender shampoo that we bought to come here." Yuuri rolled his eyes at Viktor. Viktor let out an unamused noise at Yuuri's comment as he finished off his hair.
"Okay I'm done, turn around for me." Viktor placed the comb and gel on the bedside table before turning back to Yuuri. He stared at him in awe and wrapped his arms around him. "You're so beautiful Yuuri. You're going to do great today, my love."
Yuuri could feel himself getting jittery and nervous when Viktor brought up the subject of the competition. He'd been trying to put it out of his mind and focus on staying calm, but that was obviously not working. The thought of a repeat of last year's final stuck with him as they got prepared to leave and Yuuri could feel himself beginning to get overwhelmed by the immense pressure.
They walked together to the area where they were immediately greeted by tons of reporters and fans. Yuuri managed to get away with only a few interviews and snuck into the dressing room where his fellow skaters were.
"Yuuri! We've been waiting for you!" Phichit immediately greeted him. "Where's Viktor gone?"
Yuuri shrugged and combed his hand through his hair. Him and Phichit started talking and Leo and Guang Hong joined in later. A few minutes later, Yuuri excused himself and went to try and find Viktor. He eventually found him chatting to Chris and walked up behind him and gapped his shoulder. Viktor said his goodbyes to his long time friend before turning to Yuuri.
"Warm ups are starting soon, let's head down to the rink." Viktor commented looked over at his Boyfriend, who seemed to be zoned out yet again. Viktor was starting to get concerned for him. "Yuuri, you didn't sleep, did you?"
"N-no! I did a little bit!" Yuuri tried to protest but Viktor was none of it.
"I forbid you from doing jumps in the warmup then." Viktor told Yuuri, earning no response whatsoever from the younger man. They walked to the rink and Yuuri sat down and tied his skates up before removing the skating guards. He looked out to the ice where all of his fellow competitors were practicing already. He felt so left out. The others seemed so confident, and there was Yuuri, a ball of nerves who didn't know what to do with himself
Yuuri could see the TV cameras point at them and quickly shyed away and hid behind Viktor. There were hundreds of people in the stands around them, all with high expectations for the skaters today. Yuuri had never felt like this before, mainly because he'd never actually had anything to defend in his past. Sure, he was japans top skater and had won a handful of medals in the past, but his reason to skate had been purely for his family and himself, but that was different now.
He had Viktor. He had a reason to skate now. He had something to prove. Of course, Yuuri had been an extraordinary skater before Viktor had shown up, it wasn't like being with Viktor had suddenly made him this amazing skater, no. Yuuri had always worked extremely hard to become the skater he was today. All the years of practicing had payed off, but he never seemed to have enough confidence. Viktor had helped his through his crippling self doubt and even though he still struggled, he was glad that he finally had someone who was willing to support him no matter what.
Yuuri removed his skating guards and handed them to his coach, who muttered a few words of encouragement. Yuuri joined the other skaters who were warming up for their upcoming free programs. Yuuri skated a few laps before deciding to practice some of his step sequences since Viktor had banned him from practicing any jumps. But one jump wouldn't hurt, right?
Viktor watched Yuuri closely as he looked like he was going to attempt a jump. Viktor prayed to god that he didn't, he knew full well that Yuuri's confidence would be massively effected considering how nervous he was already. He watched as Yuuri attempted a Quadruple toe loop, only to fall flat on his face. Viktor bit the inside of his lip, not even wanting to imagine what was going on in Yuuri's mind.
Yuuri came off the ice looking glum as ever as the warmup ended. He didn't dare make eye contact with Viktor as they walked away from the rink and down the corridors.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll nail your jumps in your free program . It's common for skaters to nail jumps they flubbed in practice, okay?" Viktor tried to reassure Yuuri but the younger man was too busy spacing out to take Viktor's words into consideration. Yuuri could only stare blankly at the floor as all of his doubts and fears started crawling back to him.
Guang Hong was about to start his free program. Yuuri stood in front of the TV amongst a few other people, ready for the boy to start. Yuuri watched him as he effortlessly glided across the ice. He ended up over rotating on his first jump but recovered quickly. His skating was mesmerising and the audience couldn't look away.
Yuuri's stomach flipped when he managed to land his 3 jump combo and immediately turned to TV off in panic. Of course he wanted the best for all of his competitors, but he couldn't bring himself to watch them due to the immense pressure and panic he was feeling. He quickly turned the other TV's off that were around him, earning unamused groans from the people who were watching.
He sat down on the nearest chair he could find and immediately buried his head into his hands. He had to remind himself to breathe, because he was on the verge of spiralling out of control and that was something that he definitely didn't want to happen. He tapped his foot impatiently and started playing with his fingers, anything to distract him even the slightest from what was going on in his head right now. It had become a sort of a coping mechanism for him.
Viktor watched Yuuri closely as he started crumbling apart. It was obvious that he was being swallowed by the pressure, but Viktor had no idea what to do that would help him. He didn't want a repeat of last year's Grand Prix Final.
Viktor looked over at the TV which had been turned back on and saw that Chris was about to start his program. Chris had always been a good friend to him, he was the only skater other than Yuuri which he was actually close to. Chris was the only friend that he had for a while, and was extremely grateful for him.
Viktor turned his attention back to Yuuri who was doing a few stretches on the floor before standing up and doing some against the wall. The fear on his face was evident; Viktor could easily tell that Yuuri's nerves were getting the best of him. Viktor just stood there awkwardly and watched him, conflicted whether to try and comfort him or to just keep his distance and not interfere with his feelings.
Viktor turned his head ever so slightly, only to catch a glimpse of someone cameras filming him and Yuuri. He glared at them before putting his arm around Yuuri and guiding him away.
"C'mon Yuuri, let's go warm up somewhere quieter." Viktor huffed as the walked together down the corridor. He wanted to be alone with Yuuri, with no interruptions. Where was the place with the fewest people? Viktor glanced at the stairs leading down to the parking garage beneath the arena and opted for there.
It was cold, and Yuuri shivered at the sudden drop in temperature. He huddled slightly closer to Viktor as they reached the bottom and carried on walking before coming to an abrupt stop. The cheers from Chris's performance could be heard slightly and Yuuri started to panic again.
"V-Viktor? What are the current rankings?" Yuuri said in a hurry. He became jittery and his breathing was slightly uneven. He tried to calm himself down by looking around for distractions, but nothing seemed to be working for him.
"Woah, uh, okay Yuuri- deep breaths..." Viktor fumbled around, trying to think of the best thing to say but it resulted in a mess. Yuuri closed his eyes and cupped his face in his hands. "Is there any, uh, place you could think of to calm you down...?"
"T-the beach. Or the cliffs." Yuuri mumbled back. He breathed deeply, trying to remember the feeling of the wind against his face on the night that Viktor had asked Yuuri to be his. He thought of the stars on the night that he kissed him for the first time. He though of the feeling of the sand beneath his feet when he used to walk Vicchan along the beach.
Yuuri breathed out and opened his eyes. He chewed on the inside of his lip as he looked back at Viktor who looked like a lost puppy. Viktor just hoped that Yuuri felt better because he couldn't think of any other ways to calm him down.
Another cheer from the crowd made Yuuri's stomach lurch. He quickly stuck his earbuds in to try and block out the noise. The only sound he could hear was his heart pounding in his chest. He spent a few minutes dancing around, practicing his movements for his step sequences. Viktor watched him closely and admired Yuuri's beauty as he moved around flawlessly.
The cheers from the arena seemed to be getting louder and louder until Viktor noticed that something pretty incredible must be going on to get that sort of reaction from the crowd. Of course, Phichit was currently performing and everyone knew he was a great entertainer. He could win the crowd over in a heartbeat.
A particularly loud cheer made Viktor look up and realise it was probably the end of his routine. He was lost in thought for a minute before hearing a small whimper from beside him. He snapped his head towards Yuuri, who was holding his earbuds in his hands and looking up towards where the noise was coming from. He looked absolutely terrified. There was no other way to put it.
Viktor didn't hesitate to run over and clasp his hands across his boyfriend's ears. Yuuri jumped from shock at Viktor's sudden movements and dropped his earbuds.
"Don't listen!" Viktor shouted as he stared into Yuuri's eyes. He could feel the younger man trembling. Yuuri stared back at him, the fear and nervousness evident in his eyes.
Viktor couldn't understand why Yuuri was so nervous. He'd been in serval competitions before, and had managed to make the podium a few times. He was twenty three years old. Viktor could have understood if the was younger, but Yuuri had more than enough experience in competitions, why did his nerves affect him so much? He knew about his battles with anxiety, but he would never understand the complexity of his thoughts.
Yuuri tore his gaze away from His boyfriend once he moved closer and placed his hands on Viktor's.
"I-it's nearly time, we should head up now..." Yuuri trailed off before taking Viktor's hands off his ears and waking away.
Viktor needed to do something desperately.
"Yuuri?"
What would get him motivated? What would make him skate better? Viktor turned around and combed his fringe back before letting out a frustrated sigh.
He knew how fragile Yuuri's heart was.
So what would happen if he shattered it?
"If you mess up your free skate and miss the podium, I'll take responsibility by ending my ties to you as your coach, and as your lover..."
Silence.
Yuuri didn't know what to do. He was pretty sure that his heart had just split in two. He was going to be sick. Viktor was going to leave him. Did the promises that they'd made mean nothing? Had the time that they'd spent together mean nothing to him at all? Did everything up till now hold no significance to him?
Yuuri couldn't keep it in any longer. The tears fell down his face freely without showing any signs of stopping. His eyes burned as his Vision became blurry.
"W-why would you say something like that like you're...like you're trying to test me?" Yuuri sobbed, causing a wave of guilt to wash over Viktor.
"I'm sorry Yuuri, I wasn't being serious. Please don't cry, love." Viktor held his hands up in defeat as he took a few steps closer to his boyfriend, who was shaking.
"I-I'm used to be being blamed for my own failures, I-I've gotten pretty used to it over the years, but this time I'm anxious because my mistakes are going to reflect on you too, Viktor!" Yuuri sobbed. "Part of me's been wondering if you secretly want to quit."
"Yuuri, don't be silly, of course I don't!" Viktor breathed, confused on why Yuuri would think of such a thing.
"I know!"
They were both silent for a bit, the only sounds being Yuuri's sobbing as he tried to gather himself together.
"Yuuri, you know I'm not very good at comforting people, I-i don't really know what to do...should I just kiss you or something?" Viktor asked.
"You don't need to do anything, Viktor! Just stay close to me and don't leave me!" Yuuri cried. Viktor widened his eyes and immediately felt a warm, comforting feeling in his chest. He hesitantly stepped closer to Yuuri and pulled him in for a hug. He stroked Yuuri's hair as he cried into his shoulder for as long as he needed to.
"W-we should probably be heading back up now..." Yuuri spoke one he'd calmed down.
Viktor nodded and handed Yuuri a tissues to wipe his eyes. Viktor awkwardly put his arm around Yuuri and rested his hand on his shoulder. They walked back up the stairs and down the corridors where they were greeted with masses of people again. They didn't dare speak a word to each other as they made their way past the curtain and to the rink.
Georgi was currently on the ice, determined to show people that he was an amazing skater too despite being overshadowed by Viktor for his entire life. His routine finished and Viktor applauded his old rink mate.
"I'll be off." Yuuri mumbled before turning around and making his way around to the entrance of the rink. Viktor didn't say a word as Yuuri walked around and waited to be allowed on the ice. Once the announcement rang through the arena, Yuuri immediately got onto the ice and skated over to where Viktor was standing.
Yuuri had no idea what to say to Viktor, not only because there was tension between them after what had just happened, it was because he wasn't very good with words either. Viktor handed him a tissue and he blew his nose before scrunching it up into a ball.
He dropped it slightly out of Viktor's reach, making the older man have to lean over the barrier to catch it. Yuuri took the change to pat Viktor's head gently before he skated off to the middle. That was his way of forgiving Viktor. After all, Viktor was only human and he was bound to muck up and make mistakes no matter how famous he was.
Yuuri could feel his heart pounding and his stomach churning as he stood in the middle, waiting for his music to start. The arena was all silent, everyone was watching him.
The first notes of the piece rang out and Yuuri fluently moved to them, making sure to pour everything he had into ever single move. He felt much better after crying, he felt a lot less pressure than what he did earlier. Maybe he'd bottled up his feeing too much. Regardless, the look on Viktor's face was absolutely priceless when he'd started to cry. He smiled to himself a little bit.
His first jump was a Quad toe- double toe loop combination, which he landed perfectly.
Viktor was too inexperienced as a coach. He knew full well of Yuuri's mental weaknesses, so why did he treat it like it was a new thing? Yuuri had suffered from mental health issues throughout his career, he couldn't help it.
Stupid Viktor.
Yuuri landed his second Quad too, a Quadruple Salchow. He smiled to himself yet again and continued to skate around the rink like the beautiful person he was. Viktor was in awe of his boyfriend as he glided flawlessly across the ice. Everyone who was watching could feel the love that Yuuri was pouring into his routine. The triple fill was up next, and he landed it with ease before moving onto the second half of the routine.
He spread his arms out and shut his eyes briefly as he let his emotions take over him completely. This was his favourite part of the routine, it was the part where he had discovered love. He made sure to occasionally glance over To Viktor to make sure that he was watching him.
Unfortunately, he messed up the speed of his triple axel and touched down at the end, but made up for it when he landed the next triple flip.
An idea popped into Yuuri's head suddenly.
How would Viktor react if he changed the last quad to a flip instead of a toe loop?
Yuuri was aware of what happened the last time that he attempted it. He certainly didn't want a repeat of that, but he was going to go for it. For Viktor.
He wanted to keep on surprising Viktor in any way he could.
The next jump was a triple axel, single toe loop and a triple salchow combination. The first two went well but he unfortunately over rotated on the last one. Still, he wasn't as tired as he shouldn't have been given he hadn't slept. He landed the next combination flawlessly before moving onto his step sequence.
He wanted to become stronger, both physically and mentally. He was determined to grow as an athlete and as a person. He wanted to keep on surprising Viktor in any way that he could, and wouldn't be satisfied until Viktor was. He wanted go give back to him everything that he'd taught him, even if it took a lifetime.
Watch me.
Yuuri wanted to scream those words at Viktor as he got ready to do possibly the craziest thing of his career. He held his breath as he took off and did the required amount of rotations in the air. He lost his footing on the landing and fell, but got up straight away to finish his routine.
Viktor was speechless. His jaw dropped. He crowd were ecstatic. Viktor could feel his heart swell up in s way that it never had before. He'd never experienced anything like this before. An overwhelming sense of warmth, and not just any warmth; the warmth of love.
If he'd had any doubts before, then they'd been absolutely shattered after what he'd just seen. He had no doubts anymore about what he felt. It was more than clear to him, and he wanted everyone to know.
He was utterly and hopelessly in love with Yuuri Katsuki.
As the last notes of the music rang out, Viktor cupped his face in his hands and tried to gather his emotions together. Yuuri had his back to Viktor but had caught a glimpse of him, and couldn't help but wonder what was going though his head at that point in time.
Viktor took off and started running towards the exit where Yuuri was supposed to be coming off. Yuuri was slightly confused at first but once he spotted Viktor running, he began skating as fast as he could to the exit too to greet his boyfriend. It was so cliche and sappy, but he loved it.
"Viktor! I did great, right?" Yuuri smiled and threw his arms out. Viktor just nodded and smiled.
Before Yuuri could register what was happening, he felt a pair of lips on his and a body knocking him backwards. His heart fluttered for a second before he pulled back before they hit the ice. They slid backwards before coming to a stop. Viktor was lying on top of Yuuri with his hand shielding his head from the ice. He propped himself up with both hands before staring down lovingly at Yuuri, who was a blushing mess beneath him.
"That was the only thing I could think of doing to surprise you more than you've surprised me." Viktor smiled and blushed a little.
"Well, it worked." Yuuri smiled back at Viktor before pulling him down for another kiss.
I'd hadn't occurred to Yuuri that Viktor had just kissed him in front of the entire arena as well as on national television until loud cheers erupted around the stadium. Yuuri's face was turning redder by the second and he wanted nothing but to curl up into a ball and die.
Viktor helped Yuuri up off the ice and out of the rink. Yuuri put his skating guards on before walking to the kiss and cry with Viktor. Viktor had his arm around Yuuri in a protective manner as they were bombarded with questions by the paparazzi and their fellow skaters. They brushed them off for the time being and sat in the kiss and cry to await their scores.
Viktor tackled Yuuri yet again when it was announced that he'd won silver, minus the kiss this time. They smiled and laughed in each others arms for awhile, ignoring the clicking cameras around them. They didn't care for anyone but each other in that moment, and wanted to cherish it.
The medal ceremony was great; a few tears were shed by Yuuri and Phichit as they received their medals. They smiled and posed for photos, but once they got of the ice, Phichit dragged Yuuri to the side for a moment
"Yuuri Katsuki, I can't believe you're dating the Viktor Nikiforov and you didn't tell me!" Phichit laughed and congratulated his best friend.
"I-i never said we were dating!" Yuuri tried to defend himself.
"Yuuri, it's pretty obvious from the way the looks at you that he is hopelessly in love with you, he kissed you in on national television for god sake!" Phichit rambled, earning a giggle from Yuuri. "So, are you dating?" Phichit raised an eyebrow.
"P-Phichit!" Yuuri stuttered and tried to gather himself together. "K-kinda..."
"See! Congrats Yuuri!" Phichit threw his arms around the older man. "Anyway, I'll see you at the gala tomorrow, I gotta go and find ciao ciao. See ya!"
Yuuri smiled and shook his head at Phichit. He was one in a million. There was no other person in the world like him.
Yuuri walked around to find Viktor in the middle of an interview, and joined him. After talking to a few more people and congratulating his fellow competitors, Viktor and Yuuri decided to call it a day.
They walked hand in and back to the hotel, Yuuri's head resting on Viktor's shoulder and the silver medal hanguaround his neck while Viktor carried the flowers. They immediately changed into their pyjamas when they got back, both exhausted from the hectic day they'd just had.
"Viktor, I-I just wanted to say thank you for helping me win today, please take these flowers as a thank you." Yuuri blushed as he handed him the bouquet he'd been given at the medal ceremony. Viktor just laughed a little.
"Yuuri, you don't need to give me anything, I already have all that I need." Viktor stepped closer to his and stroked his cheek. "I'm so proud of you Yuuri. I couldn't ask for better. Thank you for helping me. Thank you, Yuuri."
"B-but I haven't helped you..." Yuuri trailed off and avoided avoided Viktor's gaze.
"Don't say that again please, for the love of god. You've helped me in so many ways, Yuuri, you might not know of them yet, but I'll tell you one day." Viktor whispered before leading Yuuri to the bed and getting under the covers.
Yuuri scooted over to Viktor and snuggled into his neck and wrapped his arms around him. He closed his eyes for a few seconds before opening them and looking up at Viktor, who was staring down at him with a smile on his face.
"I'm so in love with you, Yuuri."
----------
Arriving back in Hasetsu, Yuuri was extremely nervous. He was nervous of what people were going to think of him. Especially his family. He was a nervous wreck when the taxi that they were traveling in pulled up at their house. Viktor payed the driver and they both got out and walked up to the front door slowly.
Viktor reached down and grabbed Yuuri's hand to reassure him. It was obvious that he was nervous, who wouldn't be? It was going to be the first time he'd spoken to his parents since Viktor kissed him on live television, and he was terrified of what they were going to say. Did they look at him differently? Was he going to get kicked out?
Yuuri took a deep breath before looking at Viktor one more time and walking inside. He was immediately greeted by his parents and sister, who were excited to have him back.
"Yuuri! Well done! We're so proud of you!" His mother smiled at him. She noticed that her son and Viktor's hands were intertwined and her smile grew even larger. "Oh, and congratulations you two."
Yuuri turned bright red the moment the words left her mouth. Viktor could feel himself turning a little red and squeezed Yuuri's hand. The younger boy looked up at him and gave him a smile. Viktor would have kissed him right then and there if his parents weren't there because he looked so damn adorable.
"I'll prepared some food for the both of you, so when you're ready come and join us." She smiled at them before turning and walking away.
"T-thank you." Yuuri called after her and dragged Viktor away. Yuuri let out a relived sigh and practically collapsed into Viktor's arms. "I'm so glad they took it well." Yuuri breathed.
"You have amazing parents, Yuuri. Not all people are as excepting as them..." Viktor said in admiration.
"Are you saying that we shouldn't be excepted?" Yuuri asked, sounding slightly hurt at Viktor's words.
"Hell no, that wasn't what I was saying at all. Some people will think it's wrong for us to be together, and Yuuri I beg you to not listen to what they say because none of it is true. I was just admiring how much your parents love you and how open minded they are. Some parents would have done far worse things..." Viktor trailed off and spaced out for a little. Yuuri waved his hand in front of Viktor's face to snap him out of his thoughs.
"V-Viktor? Are you okay?" Yuuri asked him, noticing that he looked a little sad.
"Y-yeah. Anyway, lets go and get some food, I'm actually really hungry." Viktor cracked a smile before guiding Yuuri away to the dinner table where their food was waiting for them. They were joined by Yuuri's parents and sister a few moments later with their own plates of food in hand
They chattered and laughed with each other all evening, mostly when Yuuri's mother started telling embarrassing stories of Yuuri's childhood. Viktor smiled down and Yuuri who's face was burning up constantly. He tried to protest but just became a stuttering mess. Viktor ruffled his hair and laughed at him.
They excused themselves and left his parents so that they could go and cuddle on the couch. Yuuri was wearing one of Viktor's baggy sweaters and it looked adorable on him. Viktor kissed Yuuri's head and wrapped his arms around him as the younger man lay on his chest.
"I'm so proud of you Yuuri, you did great at the Cup of China. Your gala performance was great too." Viktor praised him and smiled down at him. "You never fail to amaze me..."
"I though you'd be mad that I attempted a Quad flip at the end..." Yuuri laughed nervously. Viktor shook his head at him.
"I could never be mad at you, I was just...surprised. And then I was like 'I'm so in love with this man, I need to kiss him.'" Viktor laughed as he watched his boyfriend's face turn bright red at his words.
"V-Viktor!" Yuuri stuttered and tried to hide his face.
"Yuuri, you're too beautiful." Viktor laughed and leaned down to kissed his cheek. "I'm so, so proud of you."
Yuuri sat up for a minute and leaned over to grab the TV remote. He laced his and Viktor's fingers together while flicking through the channels to try and find something decent.
"You should keep the news on, maybe you'll be on it." Viktor suggested and Yuuri hesitantly agreed. He switched his phone on in the meantime while they waited and was surprised to find so many notifications from yesterday.
(4) new texts from Yuko❄️
(8) new texts from Izo Suoh (cuntbag)
(11) new texts from Yurio😇
(2) new texts from Phichit👯♂️
(3) new Voicemails from Izo Suoh (cuntbag)
Yuuri clicked on the voicemail messages, curious as to why Izo would bother leaving any for him. He pressed the phone to his ear and listened.
"I'm such an idiot. And I want to apologise for that Yuuri. I know this means nothing to you because I've done so many things I regret and I'll ever be able to take them back. But I know what I want my last words to be, I want them to be an apology to you."
Yuuri's stomach flipped at his words. What was he taking about? Had something happened? Why was he acting like he was going to die? Was it him just fooling around again?
Yuuri clicked on the next on and waited for it to load. He could hear the howling of the wind in the next one. His blood ran cold. Yuuri was begging that it was just him overthinking the situation and it wasn't what he thought it was.
"I have a problem, Yuuri, and I don't know how to fix it. I- i have nothing left anymore. I just feel so...so empty. I never meant for any of this to happen. The least Of all to you. Ever since my mother died I've been drowning out my problems in alcohol and I never realised the damage that had done until now. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. And I know even a thousand apologies won't make up for what I did to you. Don't you dare forgive me Yuuri. I never deserved you in the first place Yuuri. Please just forget about me."
Yuuri could feel his eyes watering up at Izo's words. He was too right, Yuuri was never going to forgive him for all the pain he'd brought to him. Hearing Izo apologies was like some sort of foreign language to Yuuri, and immediately knew something big was up. He gripped Viktor's hand tighter and began to tremble slightly.
"Yuuri- oh, shit, what's wrong?" Viktor asked Him when he saw a few tears running down his face. He was shaking too. Yuuri shook his head at Viktor and proceeded to click on the last voicemail.
"I guess that's it then. I-I'm so so sorry for everything I did. Please forget about me. Don't think about me after this. You have Viktor now anyway, I'm sure he treats you with the respect that you deserve. You really love him, don't you? This sounds like a massive guilt trip Yuuri, but it's not I promise. I want my last words to be to you, because Yuuri, because there's not a single day that goes by where I'm filled with regret and utter disgust about what I did. Okay. I think I'm ready. Goodbye Yuuri. I guess we'll meet again someday when we're in a better place. Please forget about me, but remember this-
Yuuri Katsuki, I love you. I loved you till the very end."
Yuuri couldn't contain himself any longer. He burst out into tears and let his phone slide out of his hands. There was something wrong with Izo. He hadn't spoken to him in that manner since around three years ago. He'd never seen or heard Izo cry before. That Izo sounded like the one he was in love with at the beginning of their relationship, before everything turned to shit.
"Yuuri, talk to me, what's wrong?" Viktor leaned down in front of Yuuri and brushed his hair back in an attempt to calm him down.
"V-Viktor, something's n-not right with I-Izo, Viktor I-m scared...." Yuuri sobbed and immediately clung onto Viktor for support.
"Has something happened?" Viktor asked as he wrapped his arms around Yuuri and stroked his hair. Yuuri didn't say anything. He just closed his eyes and tried to calm down before speaking again.
Yuuri's breath caught in this throat when he opened his eyes. He stared at the TV screen in disbelief.
No, no, no.
This wasn't happening.
Yuuri clasped a hand over his mouth to try and quieten his sobs as his Vision got blurrier by the second. He felt like he was going to be sick.
"Y-Yuuri? What's going on?" Viktor asked in panic as his boyfriend broke out into sobs. Viktor turned his attention to the TV behind him to where Yuuri was staring at as if he'd seen a ghost.
Viktor's heart stopped.

I'm sorry this took so long to update, I'll return to my usual updating schedule once all of my tests are over. Also, I never expected anyone to like this book??? I'm so overwhelmed all the lovely comments because I'm just a shitty writer that has nothing better to do?? Thank you so much for all of the support, honestly.
