The Cup of China- Short program
Hiiii!
Okay I just wanted to say that I'm going to write this slightly differently from the anime because I don't want these next chapters to become boring because there's no point me keeping every single detail the same. The main storyline will obviously stay the same, it's just most of the lines/some of the events will be altered slightly to (hopefully) keep you entertained.
Also in all honesty, I really don't know whether to carry on writing this book because I'm scared that people aren't going to like the way this story is going to go. I haven't decided yet but Idk I'll try my best to keep writing.
Sorry for the grammar mistakes again I'm really tired and I haven't read through this and I'm going to regret that when people point out embarrassing mistakes so I'm sorry.
Thank you for reading, have an amazing day!

Yuuri lay awake in his bed, unable to sleep due to the nerves in the pit of his stomach. He'd been tossing and turning around for hours upon end, and it was now the early hours of the morning and he hadn't had even a Second of sleep. He let out a frustrated groan and kicked the covers off himself. Tonight wasn't a good night.
He'd been expecting this anyway. They were flying to China in the afternoon for the start of his Grand Prix series. Yuuri was a ball of nerves as usual, but this time it felt different. Of course, he'd been utterly terrified of disappointing people in the past, and he still was now, but this time he had something to prove. He felt the need to express someone else's existence through his skating. And that person was Viktor. He had to prove to people that the Russian Legend had made the right choice in coming to coach him, and Yuuri was the only person in the world who could do that. He couldn't afford to lose. He had to be nothing less than sheer perfection.
He grabbed his glasses from his bedside table before sliding them on. He ran a hand through his hair and forced himself out of bed to get dressed. It was pitch black outside and it was probably a very bad idea to be heading out this time of night, but Yuuri needed to calm his nerves before they completely devoured him. The only way to relive his anxiety was skating his emotions out.
Yuuri was kind of glad that he'd decided not to sleep in with Viktor tonight because otherwise he could have given him a lecture and a half on how he should have been properly rested. Yuuri hardly ever slept with Viktor before competitions because he didn't want to be a bother and didn't want to feel weak. Viktor was somehow touching Yuuri nearly constantly, and just by his body language Viktor could tell how Yuuri felt. It made Yuuri feel so weak. Yuuri felt like Viktor was intruding on his feelings, Yuuri felt like a burden.
After changing, he put his bag over his shoulder and left his bedroom. He checked that he had his phone and the keys to the ice rink before exiting the house and jogging up to his destination. He crappy streetlights were the only source of light around apart from the occasional passing car, so it was eerily dark. Yuuri had no idea what to do with himself. He hated the darkness. It had destroyed him enough already. It made him feel so alone and powerless.
He walked quickly along the bridge, the swishing water beneath him making him gulp and chew on his lip. He held his breath before daring to look down at it for a second. He quickly averted his eyes away and kept his focus on the path ahead. Yuuri hated the dark, deep water. It was a very specific thing to hate, but it just reminded him of how dark his room was some nights when he was drowning in his own thoughts. There was no escape from them, no matter how hard Yuuri tried.
Everything went dead silent all of a sudden. There were no cars. There was no light breeze. No birds. The sound of the waves seemed to have quietened for a few seconds. Nothing. The only sounds Yuuri could hear were his uneven breathing and the sound of his footsteps echoing. It was eerie in the way. It was 4am on a Thursday morning and he was the only living thing about. He was so vulnerable.
He walked up the hill and to the ice castle quickly, not wanting to let his thoughts freak him out any longer. He took the key out of his pocket and unlocked the door. It was absolutely freezing inside, of course it would be because it was an ice rink but Yuuri didn't expect it to be this cold at the dead of night. It hadn't been this cold before. Yuuri quickly slipped his feet into his skates and did them up. He walked into the rink area before removing his skating guards and stepping onto the ice.
He effortlessly skated around the rink a few times- just as a warm up. He did a few spins and jumps before gliding to the middle. He put his head down and started a routine that he was far too familiar with.
Stay close to me.
Pouring all of his emotions into his moves, he fluently skated from one motion to the next and prepared for his first jump. He landed it well and immediately realised that the quad flip was supposed to be the next jump. He couldn't risk any injuries this time, so he changed it to a quad salchow. He got enough rotations in but wobbled slightly on the landing. He brushed it off and carried on skating like it was the only think that mattered in the world to him.
But that was wrong. Viktor was the only thing that mattered in the world to him at the moment. He wanted to drown everything and everyone else out (especially Izo because that man would not stop texting him). That's why he was skating this program. It was a cry; a plea for Viktor to never leave his side. Yuuri knew better than anyone that he didn't deserve Viktor, but he couldn't, didn't want to bear the though of him leaving him.
As the routine came to an end, Yuuri realised that he was crying a bit. He sniffed before finishing the combination spin and finished with his arms folded across his chest. He looked up to the ceiling once he'd finished and started to regain his breath. He remained there for a few seconds before cupping his face in his hands and falling to his knees. He bent over and let the tears fall freely down his face and onto the ice.
He was just desperate to feel good enough for once in his life.
-----
Viktor's eyes fluttered open at the feeling of a warm presence over his chest. Makkachin was sprawled over him, his tail wagging slightly and bright eyes. Viktor gave him some well deserved attention for five minutes before hauling himself out of bed. He stretched before sliding his room door open and creeping upstairs. It was only around 5am but Viktor was hoping for a small cuddling session with Yuuri before they packed everything for their flight. Viktor came to a stop at Yuuri's door and didn't hesitate to knock.
"Yuuri?" He called.
No answer.
"Yuuri? Are you awake?" He asked
Still no answer.
"I'm coming in if that's okay with you, Yuuri." Viktor said before opening the door slowly and gasped when he realised he'd been talking to an empty room.
Viktor felt his heat beat speed up and his mind automatically went to the worst case scenarios. He didn't want Yuuri to get hurt, or worse, hurt himself. He was aware that Yuuri tended to get nervous before competitions. He just hoped he was okay. Viktor's noticed the discarded pyjamas on the floor and realised that Yuuri must be out somewhere.
Viktor rushed downstairs and into his room and changed his clothes quickly. He was going out after Yuuri, because it was his duty as his coach (and boyfriend) to protect him and make sure he didn't overwork or hurt himself. He slid on his shoes and grabbed his bag before exiting the house, leaving Makkachin whining for him.
He went around the side of the house and retrieved the bike before hopping on and began cycling up to the ice rink. Viktor had been told that Yuuri often escaped to the ice rink if he felt nervous or anxious- so it had been his best guess while thinking of places he could be. It made sense though, because Yuuri would most certainly be anxious at a time like this.
He wasted no time getting there, and immediately hoped on his bike and pushed the door open. It was obvious that someone was here because the ice rink didn't open till around 8am. Once inside, he noticed Yuuri's discarded bag on the floor and immediately relaxed. He swung his own bag off his shoulders and quickly put his skates on before heading out to the rink.
Viktor immediately froze when he looked out and saw Yuuri's body sprawled on the ice. He wasn't moving either. Viktor snapped him self out of his thoughts and immediately got onto the ice and skated towards Yuuri's quickly. He was praying, he was begging that Yuuri was okay because he couldn't bear to think about a repeat of last time.
"Yuuri!" He called and immediately leaned down and shook him lightly. Viktor examined him and luckily, there didn't seem to be any blood or any major injuries. He let out a relieved breath and rolled him over.
He brushed the hair out of his face and realised that he had tear stains running down his face and his cheeks were red. Viktor mentally slapped himself for not being there for him because there was obviously something bugging Yuuri. He just wanted to support him the best that he could.
It was only when Viktor heard light snores emitting from Yuuri did he realise that he probably passed out from exhaustion. Viktor shook his head . Of course Yuuri would be tired. He didn't tend to sleep much if he had something on his mind. Viktor stroked Yuuri cheek and moved him so that he was now cradling the boy in his arms. Viktor blew into Yuuri's face a few times and began tickling him to try to wake him up.
Yuuri let out a groan and he slowly opened his eyes, just to be met with Viktor staring down at him. He looked up at him in confusion and looked around before realising that he was still at the ice rink.
"W-wha- Why are you here, Viktor?" Yuuri adjusted his glasses and looked up at his boyfriend.
"That's just what I was about to ask you." Viktor laughed and helped Yuuri up into his feet. Yuuri brushed himself off before thanking Viktor. He was extremely confused on why he'd woken up on the ice, lying in Viktor's lap but came to the conclusion that he'd probably passed out from exhaustion. They left the ice and headed out to reception.
"I'm sorry Yuuri, did you want to practice for a bit?" Viktor apologised and looked over to him.
"D-don't worry, it's fine. I think I'll be okay..." Yuuri trailed off and sat down to take his skates off.
"Do you have something on your mind, Yuuri? Something you'd like to talk about?" Viktor sat down opposite his student and started taking his own skates off. Viktor waited for an answer but it never came. Yuuri got up from his seat after putting his skates in the bag and flinging it over his shoulder.
Viktor quickly followed Yuuri who was waiting outside for him. Viktor smiled at the younger man and before he went to retrieve the bike that he'd rode on. Yuuri walked home; he didn't have the energy let alone the motivation to run. The cup of China was tomorrow and he was absolutely terrified. Viktor cycled slowly beside him, keeping an eye on the younger male. He it looked like something was bothering him but he decided not to confront him about it. He just watched over him without saying a word.
They arrived back home quickly and immediately went to their rooms to pack clothes. They didn't need many- they were only staying for three nights. Yuuri got to work quickly and packed the essentials, not wasting any time. Meanwhile, Viktor found himself debating for ages whether taking Yuuri's dog pyjamas was a good idea or not.
A couple of hours later, they were ready to go and were exchanging goodbyes with Yuuri's family. Viktor petted Makkachin one last time before waving to Yuuri's parents and leaving. Yuuri yelled one last goodbye before they left the house and headed out to the taxi that was waiting for them.
They were dropped off at the train station and had to wait around quarter of an hour before the train pulled up. They quickly got on and plopped themselves down before bracing themselves for the journey ahead.
Viktor found entertainment in trying to braid Yuuri's hair for most of the journey. Of course, Yuuri loved people playing with his hair so he didn't protest in the slightest. Yuuri ended up braiding Viktor's hair too; he did his fringe and pinned it back with a spare bobby pin he'd found in his pocket and god Yuuri wanted to kiss him. He turned away and blushed wildly. Viktor giggled and rested his head on Yuuri's shoulder.
"Is there something wrong, Yuuri?" Viktor asked in in a low, husky voice, sending shivers down his boyfriend's spine. Yuuri quietly got himself together again before leaning down by Viktor's ear.
"Viktor, I swear to god if you do something like that again I'm going to throw you under this train." Yuuri whispered. Viktor shot his head up and looked at Yuuri who was giggling to himself at Viktor's sudden shocked expression. Viktor folded his arms and pouted. And I thought he was going to say something romantic Viktor thought to himself.
Their stop was announced a few minutes later and they quickly got off the train and headed to the airport, which was conveniently only a two minute walk away. There were so many people about, Yuuri was immediately overwhelmed. He had this itching urge to grab Viktor's hand but he knew he couldn't with so many people around and a few scattered reporters waiting for some interviews. Somehow, they managed to sneak past everything and immediately went through the normal process at an airport; checking in, dropping off luggage, security checks. Yuuri was bored as hell and was relieved when they were finished and able to sit down. Their flight was due in around 5 minutes.
When their conversation was interrupted by their flight being called to gate B, they immediately rushed towards it along with all the other people boarding the flight. Yuuri could feel his stomach flipping as they climbed the steps up to the plane. He absolutely despised flying.
"For the record, this will be my first time flying while not in first class." Viktor chirped. Yuuri rolled his eyes as they found their seat and sat down by the window, earning a whine from his coach. Of course he'd want to sit by the window. He was like a child. "Oooo, these seats are far closer together than first class!"
"V-Viktor!" Yuuri mumbled as his boyfriend leaned on him.
"I'm not complaining though." Viktor raised an eyebrow and smirked at Yuuri. Viktor pulled out the blanket he'd brought from his bag and spread it over him and Yuuri. "There we go, we can sleep together now. Or would you like some champagne?"
"I, uh, kind of wanna try and get some sleep..." Yuuri mumbled. Viktor just smiled and leaned on Yuuri as they both closed their eyes and drifted off to sleep slowly.
----
Yuuri sighed as Viktor slurped away at the alcohol in his glass. They'd arrived in China a few hours prior, and Viktor had practically dragged Yuuri out of their cozy hotel room so that they could go and get hot pot. He'd been nagging him for hours until Yuuri finally gave in. Viktor had invited Yakov too but the old man turned down the offer.
Viktor was happily eating some shrimp and continuously offered some to his boyfriend but he politely declined. He looked at his phone and received a text from Phichit saying that he was around locally. Yuuri smiled happily at the thought of seeing his best friend for the first time in a few months.
"I probably ran my mouth too much at the press conference, people might think I'm just all talk if I don't win..." Yuuri trailed off and set his phone down. He sighed before looking over at Viktor.
"You'll be fineee Yuuri I promise you." Viktor smiled and took a big gulp of his drink. He leaned over the table and patted Yuuri on the head. Yuuri shook his head at his coach, Viktor was already starting to get tipsy and he was only on his second glass.
"Yuuri!"
Yuuri turned his head at the sound of his name being called and spotted Phichit standing at their booth. His face immediately lit up and Yuuri practically launched himself at his best friend and pulled him in for a massive hug.
"I've missed you so much!" Yuuri exclaimed and invited Phichit to sit by them. Viktor greeted him before going back to drinking. "So, how have you been?"
"I've been great thank you, although training will literally be the death of me. Celestino made me stay a few hours longer yesterday and I swear I was dying." Phichit laughed and Yuuri giggled and his overdramaticness. "Speaking for Ciao ciao, shall I invite him?"
Yuuri didn't have time to say anything because Phichit was already on the phone to him. His best friend announced that his coach would arrive in around 5 minutes and went back to casually chatting.
"So, how is he?" Phichit nodded over to the Russian man that was sitting on the other side of their booth. "How have you been getting along?"
"Good, great in fact. I've never been so motivated to skate for someone before..." Yuuri trailed off. Phichit raised his eyebrow, earning a nudge from Yuuri. He wasn't going to say anything more about his and Viktor's relationship because Phichit was one of those people who somehow managed to figure out absolutely everything.
"By the way, Yuuri, how is Izo? Please tell me that he hasn't done anything stupid to you again...." Phichit asked his best friend.
"O-oh well, I-I kinda broke up with him after finding out he'd been cheating on me for three years..." Yuuri trailed off and awkwardly scratched the back of his head.
"Holy cow Yuuri I'm so sorry, he's an ass and he never deserved you in the first place. At least he can't hurt you now." Phichit exclaimed. Yuuri felt an unsettling feeling in his stomach at his best friends words because of how wrong he was. Izo could hurt him, he was never safe from that man's grasp. He was too smart. He was sly and planed everything out.
Yuuri was about to open his mouth when Celestino approached them. He greeted Yuuri and Viktor and was immediately offered some shrimp by Viktor who was getting more drunk by the minute. He politely declined and Yuuri ended up going to sit next to his boyfriend so that his former coach could escape Viktor's drunken antics.
"I've invited Leo and Guang-Hong if that's okay." Phichit announced. Yuuri nodded and took a sip of his water. "Seriously, those two just need to get together already. They're so damn oblivious and I'm getting impatient."
Yuuri giggled and shook his head at his best friend. He'd missed him so much over the past months, he honestly wished they could meet up more often because he was just so joyful to be around and instantly brought happiness to everyone around him.
A few minutes later, Leo and Guang-Hong showed up with massive smiles on their faces. Phichit had informed Yuuri that both of them were massive fans of Viktor and were very excited to meet him. Yuuri felt so sorry for them because the Russian man was drunk off his mind and was draped all over Yuuri.
"Yuuuri, lets go to the h-hot spring!" Viktor slurred as he began removing his shirt.
"V-Viktor! This is a public place! You can't strip!" Yuuri told Viktor but he just blatantly ignored him and continued removing his clothing. Yuuri turned to his fellow skaters and apologised. "I'm so sorry you have to see him like this."
Phichit and the two others whipped out their phones and began taking pictures and Videos because this was not something that they were going to see again and they definitely didn't want to miss out on it. Phichit was laughing at his own coach too who seemed absolutely hammered after drinking only one bottle of alcohol.
"I'm sorry guys, I better get Viktor back to the hotel room before we get thrown out of here." Yuuri sighed and grabbed Viktor's shirt that had been discarded on the floor and stopped him from pulling his trousers down any further. "Viktor. Put your clothes back on, we're going back to the hotel."
"But Yuuuriiii!" Viktor pouted and tackled his boyfriend and kissed his cheek. "I want to stayyy with youu."
Yuuri rolled his eyes and shook his head at Viktor. Yuuri would have never imagined in a billion years that He'd one day have to drag Viktor's drunken ass back to a hotel room, he hadn't even fantasized about it because he never in his wildest dreams thought it would come true. But it had, and it was very much real.
Yuuri managed to get Viktor fully clothed before he tried to drag him out of the restaurant, but that wasn't an easy task since Viktor just wanted to drink more and more booze.
"Viktor, we need to get going, my short program is tomorrow and I really want to sleep." Yuuri tried to persuade him. He let out a huff before grabbing his hand. "I'll tell you what, if you come back now I'll buy you an ice cream from your favourite cafe in Hasetsu once we get back home, okay?"
Viktor's eyes immediately lit up and he tackled Yuuri and started planting kisses all over his face.
"Yuuuri, you're s-such a good boyfriend to me." Viktor slurred before wrapping his arms around Yuuri's neck.
The chatter at their table went silent and everyone's eyes were on Yuuri. Yuuri's face was biting hot as he stuttered about trying to get some words out of his mouth. Phichit looked overjoyed while Leo looked amused and Guang-Hong looked like he'd just seen a ghost.
"Are you two dating?" Phichit asked the unavoidable question a few seconds later after Yuuri had calmed down a bit. There was just silence.
"N-no! I-i mean- uh, it's complicated...ah, I-i think we should be getting back to the hotel." Yuuri stuttered and then hauled Viktor's drunk ass back to their hotel room, which was luckily not that far away. They made it back in a few minutes and Yuuri had to try and pry Viktor off him so that Yuuri could put him to bed.
Yuuri pulled down the covers to Viktor's bed and gently set the man down. Yuuri had decided it was best not to change him into pyjamas since Yuuri didn't want it to seem like he was taking advantage of him when he was drunk so he just made Viktor keep all of his clothes on. He tucked him in and gave him a goodnight kiss before getting ready himself. Yuuri set out his costume ready for tomorrow because he was aware of how hectic it was going to be. He climbed into bed and switched the lights off before trying to drift off to sleep.
------
The next day when they arrived and the rink for the competition, there was an exciting buzz in the air and everyone was dying for the competition to start. Yuuri stayed close to Viktor as they made their way to the dressing room. there were so many people around and Yuuri could feel his stomach flip. Yuuri spotted Phichit on their way and informed Viktor that he was going to talk to him before hesitantly leaving his side.
"Phichit! You can't just do that!" Leo threw his arms up in the air as his friend looked at Yuuri with guilty eyes.
"Phichit...what have you done?" Yuuri asked curiously because knowing him, it could be absolutely anything.
"Ah, sorry Yuuri I, uh, uploaded this photo on social media last night and some people are freaking out..." Phichit confessed and rubbed the back of his head.
"You what??" Yuuri yelled and grabbed Phichit's phone, only to see a picture of half-naked Viktor tackling him with Phichit in the corner. "They'll think I was messing around before competition...oh god." Yuuri mumbled to himself. What would they think of him if he messed up again?
Yuuri's thoughts were interrupted when he felt someone grab his ass and he immediately let out a small yelp. At first, he thought it was Viktor but had a surprise when he noticed that in fact, it was Chris.
"Yuuri, why didn't you invite me to the party last night?" Chris asked him. Yuuri couldn't seem to get any words out. "I see that Viktor's trained you well."
"Hi Chris!" Viktor smiled. Yuuri relaxed slightly when he showed up and breathed out. Viktor looked calm as ever, but inside he was absolutely fuming because how dare his best friend touch Yuuri like that.
"Viktor! It's good to see you! Please come back to figure skating, it's so boring without you. I can't take it seriously anymore without you to compete against." Chris complained.
"He's right, it's not the same without you, Viktor. Just come back already." Chris' coach walked up behind Chris to join the conversation.
Yuuri looked over at Viktor with a desperate expression. Yuuri was pretty sure he could feel his heart breaking in his chest. What would he do if Viktor actually listened to Chris' words? Would he return? Of course he would, Yuuri knew that Viktor could go back to Russia to continue with his skating career anytime he desired to, and the thought scared him. Yuuri didn't know how much time he had left with Viktor, but he was going to do everything in his power to hold onto him for as long as possible.
"You should just come back to skating already."
"You know that Yuuri's no good."
"You saw what happened last year, he's not going to give you a good name."
"You can do better than that."
"It's just a waste of time."
And that's how most of that hour went; wherever he went, Viktor was constantly bombarded by people insulting Yuuri and telling him to return to skating and he had had enough. He just smiled and laughed at them Because he never lost his temper or showed what he was truly feeling, but he was raging. That was the only way to put it. Did he really come of as the sort of person to just leave behind someone that they loved dearly?
He wandered off to find Yuuri, ignoring the shouts and calls of his name on the way. He smiled a little when he saw that Yuuri was watching Phichit on the TV, who was about to start his short program. Yuuri was quite emotional himself, seeing his best friend skate to the music that he'd been earning to use forever. He didn't even want to imagine what Phichit felt like; he was probably a mess of overwhelming emotions.
Yuuri cursed quietly when he saw his best friend fall, bit luckily he got back up straight away. He was doing great, the audience were hooked by his passionate skating. He was definitely a great entertainer. He always had been. The routine came to and end and Yuuri smiled before turning around to go and warm up. His performance was after Guang-Hong's, and he was feeling extremely unsettled.
"Are you feeling okay, Yuuri?" Viktor asked him. Yuuri had been unusually quiet today, not that he was talkative, but he'd been scarily quiet though out the whole day. Yuuri hummed in response before announcing that he was going to start warming up. He started running lightly up and down the corridors. He spotted Chris and gave him a smile. He could see a bunch of the Russian skaters Viktor had been talking to earlier out of the corner of his eye, and suddenly nerves shot through his stomach.
No one was going to be satisfied by his skating today. Not the people who wanted Viktor to return, not the people who knew the old him, not the people who knew the new him. Even if he skated perfectly, people would find a reason to put him down and continue to try and lure Viktor back to the skating world. It was driving him wild. People were never going to be satisfied with him, and if that was the case, he wanted to be known as the man that had stolen Viktor from the world.
Viktor meanwhile, was keeping a very close eye on Yuuri. He'd never seen him like this before. Even Chris had noticed that Yuuri was acting strange and had to get Viktor to reassure him that the poor boy was okay. Viktor didn't know what to do. Since when did Yuuri's presence seem...intimidating? This was the first time Viktor had to take a step back from him. Viktor didn't know what had flipped Yuuri's switch and he didn't know whether he liked it or not.
"V-Viktor, it's time for us to go." Yuuri stuttered before pointing at the TV where he could see that Guang Hong had just ended his performance. Yuuri could feel himself shaking slightly and his movements were becoming jittery.
"Of course." Viktor replied and lead Yuuri out to the rink. He could hear the cheers of the crowd as Guang Hong waved at them. Yuuri let out a shaky breath and departed from Viktor momentarily so that he could enter the rink. Once Guang-Hong was off, Yuuri offered him a congratulations and smiled at him before taking to the ice.
He skated over by the side where Viktor was standing. To say that he was nervous was the understatement of the century, but he had a point to prove:
He, Yuuri Katsuki, was worthy of Viktor Nikiforov's love.
Yuuri's mind and heart started racing as Viktor grabbed his hand and started stroking it lightly.
"Yuuri, the time for picturing pork cutlet bowls and women is over. I'm sure that you're aware you can seduce me by just being Yourself. You can envision it fine, can't you?" Viktor smirked.
Before Viktor could say anything else, Yuuri laced their fingers together and pressed his forehead against Viktor's. Viktor nearly yelped in shock, but he definitely wasn't complaining because right now he was staring into a pair of absolutely stunning brown eyes.
"Don't you dare take your eyes off me."
And with that, those beautiful eyes left his and focused on the spot in the middle of the rink. Yuuri felt embarrassment course through his body as he skated to his starting point, but he didn't regret what he'd just done, he didn't regret it one bit. The fire in Viktor's eyes seemed to have been ignited the moment those words had escaped his lips and it served as a warning to the Russian man that Yuuri was going to absolutely destroy any self control that he had left once he'd finished seducing him.
Yuuri didn't have time to change his decision because suddenly, the sound of music flooded his ears and the routine started. Yuuri licked his lips gently, trying to steal a glance of Viktor to see just what his expression was at that moment, but failed to. Regardless, he threw his head back and smirked at Viktor before continuing with his step sequence.
The sound of cheers was all Yuuri could hear as he went through the first half of his routine-that was a first time experience for him, and he was quite overwhelmed. He'd never had so many people cheering him on before. Yuuri put every ounce of effort into making sure that he fully conveyed his emotions to the crowd and everyone watching. He managed to glance over at Viktor a few times to make absolute sure that he was watching him.
Viktor was stunned. He'd never seen Yuuri perform like this. It was too much for him. He literally couldn't take his eyes for him because dear god was Yuuri perfect. The first half of his program was absolutely flawless and Viktor only hoped that the second half would be as impressive. Yuuri was too beautiful for him to put into words.
The first jump came up; a triple axel and Yuuri executed it perfectly. Viktor smiled and cheered with the ear of the crowd, but he could feel his stomach churn when he remembered that the Quad Salchow was coming up next. Viktor helped his breath as Yuuri took off and time seemed to go slower than Usual as he completed the four required rotations and landed perfectly. Viktor was about to burst out of pride and happiness for his boy.
Yuuri was thrilled that he'd managed to land the quad salchow; He hoped that he'd done Viktor proud, Because at the end of the day, what was skating to him without Viktor?
Nothing.
He was the only one who knew Viktor's love. He was the only one who could satisfy Viktor. It sounded selfish- but it was true, and he was going to prove it right here and now. Viktor was his.
He nailed the quad toe-triple toe at the end and began the combination spin at the end. It was an absolutely exhausting program, to the point where sometimes Yuuri thought he was going to pass out. Nevertheless, he knew he had better stamina than most of his fellow competitors and used that as an advantage to maximise the potential of each program he did.
The music suddenly stoped and the cheers of the crowd drowned the whole stadium. Viktor threw his arms up in the air in pure joy because Yuuri had just done a perfect performance and Viktor was the proudest man alive. Viktor called his name but he failed to hear him over the sea of cheers. Chris reminded Viktor that the kiss and cry was the other side of the arena and so he started to make his way over.
He immediately pulled Yuuri into a tight hug and showered him with praise the moment he was by his side in the kiss and cry. He had to restrain from kissing Yuuri because the whole world would see and he knew how much of a controversy that would cause .
"Yuuri, did that feel good?"Viktor stared down at his boyfriend through the silver strands of his fringe.
"Uh...I just hope everyone felt good watching me." Yuuri replied with an evident blush on his cheeks. Yuuri was anxious, and Viktor could tell by the way he was fumbling around with his fingers. He had every right to be nervous, he just hoped that Yuuri wasn't overthinking too much.
"The scores for: Yuuri Katsuki!" The announcement rang around the arena. Yuuri held his breath.
"106.84!"
Viktor smiled widely and tried to make his hands into a heart shape for the cameras. Yuuri was in first place, and by quite a margin. Yuuri squinted slightly at the screen in front of them, not being sure if he was seeing the numbers correctly. He was interrupted by Viktor hugging him tightly and smiling at him.
"I'm so proud of you, love. You did amazing!" Viktor whispered into Yuuri's ear. "Lets go to the dressing room."
Yuuri blushed and followed Viktor's lead out of the kiss and cry. They were met by a few reporters on the way and they happily answered a few questions before departing with them. Viktor pushed the door open and scanned quickly to make absolute certain that there was no one around before pinning Yuuri against the wall and smashing his lips onto his.
Yuuri yelped in shock at the sudden contact but kissed back and tangled his hands in Viktor's hair. Yuuri twirled his hand around Viktor's tie and pulled him deeper into the kiss.
The sound of the door opening made both males instantly jump away from each other, both still breathless from the kiss. Phichit was there, smiling at the both of them before raising an eyebrow at Yuuri.
"Sorry to intrude but would you like to come and watch group two with us up in the stands? Leo and Guang Hong are coming." Phichit offered. Yuuri politely declined on behalf of Viktor too and his best friend soon left the two of them again.
"D'you think he saw us?" Viktor questioned after s few seconds silence.
"I don't think he did. Phichit would be up in arms if he had." Yuuri giggled slightly.
"Hmm. Well then, where were we?"
-------
Yuuri and Viktor left the arena later that might with massive smiled on their faces because for the first time ever in a major competition, Yuuri was in first place. It was a little overwhelming for Yuuri and he didn't know what to do with himself because now that he was 1st, there were high expectations for him in the free skate, and Yuuri didn't handle pressure very well.
Yuuri departed with all of his friends before him and Viktor walked back to their hotel with was around a five minute walk away. Yuuri desperately wanted to hold onto Viktor's hand for warmth in the cold October air, but he knew he could t because of how many people were around.
They reached the hotel and immediately got into the elevator which carried them up to their floor. A satisfying 'ping' rang as the doors opened and Viktor and Yuuri went to find their room.
The moment Viktor had unlocked the door, Yuuri ran inside and collapsed onto the bed. He was so tired after today. He had poured every ounce of emotion possible into that routine and finally, finally, he had gotten something out of it. He quickly changed into his pyjamas and brushed his teeth before climbing under the quilt.
It wasn't long until he felt a pair of warm hands snake around his waist and a warm body behind his. He laughed when he felt a few strands of hair tickle his neck as Viktor buried his head into Yuuri's back.
"I don't think you understand how proud I am of you. You performed perfectly, my love." Viktor praised Yuuri, making him blush.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it, Viktor." Yuuri whispered. "I hope everyone else enjoyed it too."
"They damn well did, Yuuri. I've never seen anyone skate the same as you do, you know that. You have a very specific style of skating and I am completely and utterly intrigued by you." Viktor said and placed a kiss to Yuuri's forehead.
"G-goodnight Viktor." Yuuri stuttered and closed his eyes, those being the only words that he could seem to get out of his mouth.
"Sleep tight, sleeping beauty."

Thanks for reading! I'm sorry this chapter is shitty I've been revising a lot recently so I haven't had time to write.
(Also I'm contemplating whether to change the name of this book to holding onto you, what do you guys think?)
