Yurina eyed the couple on the couch across from her with a disgusted look; she took a handful of popcorn from her bowl before she threw it at them one piece at a time. "Get a room..." she groaned out.
"We didn't do anything," Yulhee scoffed at her best friend, but her limbs that were tangled with her boyfriend's begged to differ.
"What happened to the 5cm distance rule?" Yurina countered, looking them up and down before getting up to get some water from the kitchen.
"Someone is chronically single," Yunho muttered as he rolled his eyes.
"I heard that!" she hollered over her shoulder.
When she came back, she threw her body over the two making them grunt and try to move her away; she laughed evilly.
"Go away," Yulhee groaned, but a giggle tore through her vexed facade.
"This is my couch, I get to sit wherever I want," Yurina countered, getting comfortable on their laps, but all it took was one push from Yunho to have her fall to the ground with a thud. "Ow! You bitch!"
"Oh, shit, sorry," he apologized, not intending for her to fall this hard. He extended his hand to help her up, but she slapped it away with a comical grimace.
"You guys are mean," she pouted, choosing to lay on the ground and accept her fate; her hands placed on her chest like she was in a casket.
"You're the one being weird," Yulhee countered with a chuckle.
"Yeah, it's because I'm lonely..." she dragged out her complaint, closing her eyes and accepting death.
"You're being ridiculous," Yunho huffed, "you complain about being single yet refuse to date anyone."
She rose in an instant to glare at him. "I don't refuse to date anyone, I just realized that I'd rather not give up wearing high heels to satisfy some dude's ego! I'm too tall for everyone that I've met!" she clarified with a pointed finger.
"There are men taller than you," Yulhee whined out, falling to the ground beside her and lazily throwing her arms around the girl twice her height.
"Yes, there are, but they all date girls like you," Yurina spat out, looking between the giant Yunho to the tiny Yulhee to prove her point.
"Oh, come on," Yulhee groaned, her cheek squished against Yurina's back.
"I tried to set you up with someone taller than you, but you refused," Yunho reminded her.
"What? With who?" Yulhee asked, not hearing of this before.
"Yeah, well, I don't trust your taste in men seeing as you're the straightest man I've ever met!" Yurina reasoned, ignoring the girl.
"Who is it!" Yulhee demanded, her usually soft voice growing louder.
"Mingi," Yunho told her at last, and she had to take a double take.
"Song Mingi?" she asked, excited. Her arms let go of her friend so she could pull away and look into her eyes.
"Is there another Mingi I know?" Yunho breathed out sarcastically.
"Oh my gosh, Yuri! Mingi is amazing for you! He's the nicest man I met, and he is adorable, too!" Yulhee exclaimed, feeling all giddy just thinking about it before she recalled how this conversation was brought up. "Why did you say no!" she cried out.
"Hey!" Yurina let out defensively, she opened her mouth to explain herself but found nothing to say. "Well.." she muttered, "he..." she dragged, "he..."
"See, you don't have a reason to say no, you just like being miserable and alone," Yunho said, looking at her with the know-it-all look.
"Shut up," she smacked his shin that was in her face before turning around so that her back was leaning against the bottom of the couch. She reflected for a moment.
"Did you tell Mingi about her?" Yulhee asked her boyfriend, but he shook his head.
"No, he saw her at our early Halloween party and asked me about her," Yunho cleared, emphasizing with his tone the words he meant for Yurina to hear.
"Ugh," Yurina let out, raising her head and covering it with her hand. "I don't know what's wrong with me, guys!"
"Hey," Yulhee cooed out, immediately wrapping her arms around the girl from the side. Yunho plopped himself on the floor next to them, sandwiching the girl between the couple. He put a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Nothing is wrong with you," Yunho said.
"Yeah," Yulhee pushed on, "you've had many bad experiences, and maybe that's holding you back, but you gotta kiss a hundred frogs before you find your prince."
Yurina couldn't help but laugh out midst a whiny groan, "I don't want to kiss frogs, that's disgusting!"
"You're in luck, Mingi is not a frog," Yunho sang out, still trying to enforce his agenda.
"And he's taller than you!" Yulhee chipped in. "Even if you wear heels he'd still be a little taller than you."
Yurina was going to scoff at that, but she realized that her friends were really doing everything they could to help her, so maybe she should be a little grateful.
"I don't know," she sighed, hugging her knees. "I don't want to do this because I'm scared to end up alone, but that's exactly why I would do that."
"You're not alone," Yulhee hissed, feeling offended. She hugged Yurina tighter, placing her chin on the girl's shoulder. "You have us," she argued.
Yurina laughed a bit, at times it felt like Yunho and Yulhee were her long-lost parents.
"Yes, we will always drive you home from clubs and clean up after you puke," Yunho quipped, his long arm wrapping around the shoulders of both girls with ease.
"Hey, that literally only happened once. Would you let it go?" Yurina defended herself.
"Well, that doesn't matter, what he means is that we're always here for you until we're all grey and old," Yulhee said, her emotions were never masked with humor or sass, always coming out raw; at first, it used to cringe Yurina, but she grew to love that the most about her friend.
Yurina leaned her head against Yulhee's as she breathed; those words were comforting, but she knew it wasn't the future she wanted. Third-wheeling for eternity wasn't really ideal.
Yurina also felt like she was partially responsible for her friends' static relationship. How could they progress to something more if she was holding onto them like a stray dog?
It didn't help that she was older than the two, feeling her youth withering away at the age of 25. Not a single long-term relationship in her record.
Things were working for now; however, Yunho and Yulhee will eventually want to get married and have children, and she can't keep shoving herself in between. Just that thought made her heart sink, and she bit her lips and tried to enjoy how their relationship was while she still had it.
"I'll do it," Yurina whispered before gaining more courage. "I-If Mingi still wants to, of cou-"
"Oh my gosh!" Yulhee cheered with a little jump that ripped her body away from her friends.
"I didn't get back to him since last time, so I think he is still up for it," Yunho replied, his arm retracting to fish his phone out of his pocket.
"What? Why didn't you tell him I said no?" Yurina huffed.
"I knew you'd come around," Yunho smirked, making her smack his shoulder.
Yulhee was gushing, planning Yurina and Mingi's wedding in her head already.
"Should it be a double date, or are you comfortable going alone?" Yulhee asked, holding her hand to grab her attention.
"Um," Yurina thought about it, feeling a bit overwhelmed at the sudden bombarding. "I don't know, what do you think?" she turned to Yunho.
"Whatever you're more comfortable with, but I think you should meet on your own, so Yulhee doesn't get in the way," he said, his eyes on his device.
"Hey!" Yulhee let out, offended but not denying his accusation, making Yurina giggle a little.
"But what if it's awkward and I don't know what to say!" she countered in a whine.
"Mingi's super shy, but he's really easy to talk to," Yulhee spoke from personal experience.
"But he looks really intimidating," Yurina said, remembering his brightly colored hair and dark makeup he had on at the Halloween party.
"He calls grey 'concrete color', and pink 'heart color', I think you're worried about the wrong thing," Yunho joked, earning a nervous giggle from the girl.
"Are you texting him?" Yulhee asked, peering over to see his phone when he hummed with a nod. She immediately jumped to sit beside him, reading every text he was sending until he had to push her face away as her hair blocked his view of his own phone's screen.
"W-wait! What are you telling him?" Yurina nervously grabbed his hand to bring his phone so she could see it; her glasses were somewhere she couldn't reach right now.
"That's none of your business you two," Yunho grunted, pulling his arms free from their grasp.
"Yes, we should instead focus on what you would wear!" Yulhee exclaimed, meeting her friend's eyes once Yunho raised his arms.
"Girl, what if he says he's not interested anymore?" Yurina said, trying to calm down her friend's nerve-wracking excitement.
"No, he's very much still interested," Yunho replied, making Yulhee squeal, stand up, and twirl from happiness.
"W-what? What did he say?" Yurina asked, focusing on Yunho again.
"He asked if I can give him your number so you could decide on a place together, can I?" Yunho turned to her, and she almost choked.
"Of course, you can!" Yulhee answered on her behalf, sitting beside Yunho again and pulling his phone for her to read. They both argued, pulling the phone from each other until they settled in a position where they both could see the screen.
When the couple noticed Yurina was silent, they turned to her.
"Everything alright?" Yunho asked.
"It's alright if you don't want to do this anymore," Yulhee added.
"N-no, no!" Yurina stopped them, a bit too eagerly, "it's not that. I was just overwhelmed for a moment, that's all."
"Aw, Riri," Yulhee cooed out empathetically.
"Don't worry, think of it as more of an experience; it doesn't have to work out, you just need to have a fun story to tell people about later," Yunho told her, his hand on her shoulder.
"That's what I told myself when I went out with Yunho for the first time," Yulhee told her, trying her best to dim down her giddiness, but her eyes disappeared with a bright smile as she spoke.
"What? I didn't know tha-" Yunho turned to his girlfriend, but she ignored him.
"Anyway," Yulhee forced out, drowning her boyfriend's words. "You just go have fun, if it goes well, we'll all go drink, and if doesn't we'll all go drink, too."
"Geez," Yurina laughed, feeling a bit better until she felt her phone buzz in her pocket. "Holy shit, it's him," she breathed out, almost dropping the phone multiple times when she saw the unknown number.
"Oh my gosh, what did he say?" Yulhee jumped at her friend, sticking her face in her phone before Yunho pulled her back to him.
"You gotta stop doing that," he whispered to her, but Yurina had drowned out their voices as she got her phone closer to her face so she could read.
She read his text with squinted eyes. "H-Hey, is this Yu-rina?" she dragged every syllable before looking up at her friends. "What do I say?" she said, looking like a lost puppy, and for a moment there was silence before her friends burst out laughing.
"That's for you to figure out, and us to think of while we go get ice cream," Yunho said, standing up and pulling Yulhee along.
"We're getting ice cream?" Yulhee gasped.
"Pass me my glasses," Yurina spoke, her voice all serious as she pulled her sleeves up. Yulhee gave her the glasses, and she put them on before holding her phone like an angry businesswoman.
"Let's go," Yunho whispered to his girlfriend and they disappeared into their room to change into some presentable clothes before leaving the house.
"What flavor do you want?" Yulhee asked she slipped on her shoe, but the girl was too focused to answer making the couple stifle a laugh.
"Let her be, we'll just get her the usual," Yunho whispered before opening the door for Yulhee. They linked arms, smiled, then walked out of their apartment, feeling all accomplished.
T H E P R E P A R A T I O N
"Are you sure I'm not overdoing it?" Yurina forced out as she nibbled on the inside of her cheek while Yulhee curled her hair.
The girl stopped for a minute to look at the girl's makeup before shaking her head.
"No, I love it," she said as she continued working.
"So it's not too much?" Yurina begged for confirmation as she looked at herself in the mirror.
"It's perfectly Yurina style; you look gorgeous," Yulhee explained with a giggle; not used to her tall friend being so reserved and shy when she was usually all out and up in everyone's face.
"Done!" Yulhee chirped once she finished. Yurina's long hair was always a hassle to style, but Yulhee never complained.
"Should I leave it open or do something with it?" Yurina asked.
"I think leave it as it is since you're planning on wearing the beret. Besides, I worked so hard on it, nothing should distract people from that," she joked.
Yurina stood up, tugging at the skirt of her white and blue checkered dress. It had thin sleeves, so she wore a fancy blouse underneath it.
Her eyes went back and forth between the beige thigh-high boots and the white Versace heels she borrowed from Yulhee as she contemplated.
"I think the boots are too much for the season," Yulhee voiced her opinion and the girl hummed.
"But the heels are too high, Yul. What if I intimidate him right off the bat?" she mumbled nervously.
"Hey, we can have a height test with Yunho before you go," Yulhee said in all seriousness which made Yurina ease off a little as she giggled.
"Yeah, let's do that," she said before sitting down to put the heels on.
"I'll go get ready," Yulhee said, and before Yurina could ask her why, the girl was down the hallway.
She took a few turns around her room to get comfortable in the new footwear before grabbing her coat and walking to the entrance only to see Yulhee and Yunho dressed up and putting their shoes on.
"Oh, you're here," Yulhee huffed out while bent over to tie her laces. "Quick." She stood up straight with the help of Yunho before ushering Yurina to switch places with her so she could study their height gap.
"Ok," she narrowed her eyes before smiling, "yes, you're still shorter!"
"Great!" Yunho celebrated, grabbing his car keys from the nearby stand. "Let's go," he spoke.
"Are you guys going somewhere?" Yurina asked the couple, confused.
"We're dropping you off?" Yulhee replied, unsure now that she saw Yurina's face.
"Oh," Yurina breathed out, awkwardly chewing on her lips as she raised her phone, "he said he'll come pick me up..."
"Oh," the couple let out simultaneously.
"O-of course he did," Yulhee let out with a sheepish smile.
"I guess we got used to driving you around, now you have a new chauffeur," Yunho let out dramatically.
"Why does it feel like I'm sending my son off to war?" Yulhee joked and everyone giggled along, but Yurina could see how her eyes turned a bit misty.
"Yul, it's just a date," Yurina cooed, used to seeing her emotional friend cry all the time, but she felt herself almost tear up, too. "It might not even work out," she shrugged it off nonchalantly.
"I know, I know," Yulhee said, her cheeks tinted bright pink. Yunho rubbed her arm up and down to soothe her with a small smile on his lips; she was too precious.
"Come here," Yurina pulled her into a hug, meaning she had to hunch over so that the girl's face wasn't squished into her push-up bra.
"He can be your boyfriend, but the best friend's spot is strictly reserved for us, ok?" Yulhee said and the older girl laughed.
"Of course," Yurina giggled before pulling away.
"He's calling!" Yulhee gasped in panic.
"Oh gosh!" Yurina did so too, picking up her phone. "How do I look? Is my hair alright?"
"Bend down," Yulhee said, and she did so, allowing her to fix her bangs. "You look amazing."
Yurina turned to Yunho and he gave her a thumbs up.
She finally answered the phone with a very reserved, "hey."
They both eyed her body language while she muttered meek replies. She walked to the window suddenly before opening it. She waved her hand with a smile. "I see you, I'll be right down." With that, she hung up.
"I'll be back before you know it," Yurina said, trying to reassure them, but they both shook their head instantly with huge shit-eating grins.
"Please take your time," Yunho insisted jokingly, making her roll her eyes before they sent her off like proud parents; all waving and complimenting her, making her grow embarrassed.
She forgot her coat.
T H E D A T E
When she approached his car, Mingi was already outside standing by the passenger seat, but his eyes were fixed on his phone.
He was dressed in a beige turtle-neck sweater with a light blue semi-formal coat. His bangs ended right over his eyes, and his glasses were at the tip of his nose bridge. Yurina could've sworn he wasn't the same man dressed as a zombie for Halloween. He looked so soft; his fingers were mostly covered with his coat as he type on his phone.
She walked up to him until he looked up when her shadow came into his vision.
"Hi!" Yurina tilted her head and waved, and his face immediately lit up in a smile that made his eyes disappear. Something funny was going on in the pit of her guts.
"Hey!" he sang out, pushing himself off the vehicle to walk closer to her. "Oh!" he let out suddenly as he eyed her up and down, and her heart almost dropped before he said, "we matched." He showcased his outfit to further prove his point.
"Oh," Yurina breathed out before giggling. "Great minds think alike," she said with a slight shrug.
"You look beautiful," he complimented her earnestly, and Yurina almost malfunctioned.
"T-Thanks, you too," she replied lamely, not expecting her cheeks to warm up at mere words. It truly has been a while since she went out with anyone, damn.
"Should we go?" He asked, ushering towards his car despite his hands being in his pocket.
Yurina looked up at him before realizing; she looked up at him. He was taller than her, with her heels on. Sure, she could easily be his height with a higher heel, but for now, that did not matter.
"Sure," she said, smiling in almost relief. He opened the door for her and she thanked him before jumping in. Whatever perfume he had on, the car was entirely scented with it, and while she was usually repulsed by men's cologne, this one had a certain authenticity to it that made it addictive. Oh shit, she was getting ahead of herself, and his door slamming shut snapped her out of her daydreaming. When did she become such a Yulhee? Must've happened somewhere along the 15 years of friendship.
"The skating rink isn't that far from here," Mingi stated as he brought the engine to life.
"Oh, that's great," Yurina commented. "Get ready to see my great skills," she smirked, and he laughed, a deep resonating laugh that got her head spinning.
"I think you'll take that back," Mingi replied with the same air-headed attitude, "everyone who's seen me skate said I was the best they've seen." His boast was clearly sarcastic, and Yurina found herself laughing a bit too hard; maybe she was relieved that his type of humor fits perfectly with hers.
He glanced at her slightly before looking ahead and smiling to himself.
"I actually trained in figure skating though," Yurina admitted, and he gasped immediately.
"You didn't tell me that!" he scoffed, not believing she did him dirty.
"I told you I was pretty good," she countered.
"You said 'I used to skate some time ago', not 'I was a figure skater'. Those are two different things," Mingi replied. "Now I'm going to look like a loser," he dramatically wailed.
"Shush, I will help you," she stopped him.
"Don't take that back when we get there," he joked, and she shook her head as she giggled.
"I never go back on my words," she boasted proudly.
A F E W M O M E N T S L A T E R . . .
"Mingi, let go of me," Yurina cried out through her hysteric laughing as she tried to get Mingi to stop dragging her down or they'd both fall; all courtesy was thrown out the window.
"I'm going to fall, Yuri!" he cried, clambering onto her, arms around her shoulders as he struggled to stabilize his feet. Yurina didn't know when her name lost its last syllable, but she found it cute, so she didn't argue.
"You're not going to," she reassured him, stabilizing him with her hands on his waist, and he took a moment before he slowly let her go, finally standing on his own. "Going to let go," she said slowly, but he immediately shook his head.
"I'm going to fall," he said, scared.
"You won't," she stated, "hold my hands instead."
With a deep breath, he nodded. He stood stable for a second before stumbling forward; however, she held his hands to keep him steady.
His hands were bigger than hers, and something about it made her feel more like a girl than she ever did before.
"Do you want to take a lap around the rink?" she asked him with a shy smile, and he contemplated, his eyes on his shaky feet for a moment.
"Promise you won't let me go?" he asked as he looked up at her, and the way he phrased his words made her giggle.
"Promise," she said, attempting to pull her hand away to connect their pinky but breaking her promise in doing so. Mingi almost fell onto her if her hand didn't hold his shoulder.
"And you broke the promise already," he told her, his face inches away from hers, but she couldn't help but laugh.
"Sorry," she giggled, and held his hand again, squeezing it for reassurance before she began moving slowly, and he moved along with her.
Slowly, he gained confidence, his strides more stable and faster. Yurina only held onto one of his hands, and to be fair, it was just for the sake of holding it.
"Hold on, let me show you something," Yurina said once they came closer to the railing. Mingi held onto them while she sped to the middle of the rink.
When she reached there, she used her momentum to drive her forward before leaping and twirling mid-air. Before Mingi could even react, she did it 3 more consecutive times, making his jaw drop.
Everyone in the rink began to clap, and she twirled around one last time, this one lasting longer, making her look like a music-box ballerina. Then she made her way back to him as if she hasn't just wowed the whole crowd.
"What do you think?" Yurina asked cheekily, knowing she impressed him by the look on his face.
"That was amazing!" he breathed out, still not processing what he just saw.
"Oh, well, I wanted to do more, but my clothes are kind of restricting," she avoided replying to the compliment by changing the subject. Mingi looked at her clothes before snapping out of his daze.
"Aren't you feeling cold?" he asked, feeling chilly himself despite all his skin being covered.
"I kind of forgot my coat at home when I was leaving," she replied, sheepish. "Yunho and Yulhee are to blame."
Mingi chuckled, easing off his coat and putting it on her before she could even refuse.
"Now, you're gonna be cold," she nagged him, but he shrugged.
"If I am, I'll let you know," he told her, which was a lie because he was instantly cold, but she didn't see through it, and that's what mattered.
"What did Yunho and Yulhee do?" he asked, bringing back what she said into the conversation. He held his hand out for her to hold so they could go around the rink again.
"Oh, well, they were sending me off like it was my first day at preschool," Yurina giggled at the recollection before gladly accepting his offer.
"You're like their lovechild," Mingi quipped, making her laugh at the accuracy. "I was threatened by both all night yesterday."
"What? No way!" Yurina giggled, her heart melting at that.
"Yes way, so I hope you're enjoying your time; I really don't want to get punched in the face by Yunho," Mingi said, but there was a hint of nervousness beneath it all.
"I'm having a blast!" Yurina told him, the wind in her hair and the cold air in her airways boosting the adrenaline in her blood as they sped around.
He couldn't help but smile in relief; he was so glad she looked so happy.
Once they slowed down a bit, he raised their joint arm over her head, making her twirl in place before getting closer to him; they were almost flushed against each other.
"Maybe if you were my partner I wouldn't have quit figure skating," she told him, her cheeks flushed from the cold.
"I could still be your partner, no figure skating involved," he said so smoothly, it felt like a punch to her gut.
"You're so cheesy," she whined out, but she couldn't control the smile that was on her face.
"It's my charm," he said proudly, looking down at her. Her eyes traveled from his to all over his face, hesitantly landing on his lips. "Can I?"
It felt like it was happening too quickly, and Yurina was really scared, but in a moment, she decided to just let things go with the flow. Without even answering him, she raised her head and pressed her lips to his, taking his breath away--literally.
When his shaky hands cupped her face and gently pressed his lips back into hers, all her nerves from before were soothed at once; she felt oddly calm like she was at home wrapped up in warm blankets.
It felt like a long time, but not enough all at once; however, they had to pull away. While he looked away, biting his lips shyly, she looked at him with stars in her eyes. He looked up and giggled, not expecting to see her looking at him that way.
"I think I want to love you, Song Mingi," she blurted her thoughts. It was too soon, but she never felt that way before; she wanted to get to know everything about him as soon as she could so she could love it, and she was certain she would love him as soon as possible.
Mingi was stunned for a minute, never having someone say something like this to him before; he didn't know how to reply. The words processed in his head before he found his tongue acting on its own, "I think I want to love you, too, Yuri."
For a moment they held eye contact before they both giggled shyly.
"You're shivering," Yurina commented immediately, feeling how cold his hand was when he held hers.
"It's cold," he pouted in defeat, and she started peeling his coat off. "No! Keep it on," he cried, quickly reversing what she did.
"Are you sure?" she asked him, and he nodded.
"It's already half past nine, they'll be closing the rink soon," he told her.
"Up for one last lap, then?" she asked him with a glint in her eyes.
"My pleasure," he replied with a supposedly elegant tone, and she smiled before swaying with him leisurely to lengthen their time together.
By the time they were out of the rink, they grew used to holding each other's hand; doing so without realizing it.
After a fight, Mingi finally let her return his coat, but he stuffed her hand in his pocket along with his, making her insides warm up too.
"Don't judge me if it sounds corny," Mingi told her in advance, capturing her full attention despite the corn dog in her hand.
"That would depend, but I'm known to be flexible," she quipped, making him smile.
" I don't want this day to end," he admitted, sheepishly, and she almost choked before smiling like a giddy teenager.
"Honestly," she turned to him, stopping their walk around the river, "me, neither."
He chuckled, relieved. Yurina frowned a bit before pulling her hand out of his pocket, retrieving a napkin from her purse.
"You got something here," she whispered before wiping it away softly, making his heart run laps.
"Shit, you're really cute," he blurted.
"Oh, shut up!" she cried, having had enough of her cheeks growing warm at his every word.
"Sorry," Mingi breathed out, not sorry at all.
She tugged him along to continue their walk, her head slowly leaning against his shoulder; gosh, he was the perfect height for her. Maybe she didn't mind not wearing higher heels for the rest of her life.
He leaned his head against hers, the air by the riverside mixed with her perfume relaxing him instantly.
"I should return you," he muttered softly, his voice much like the breeze surrounding them.
She chuckled, "they can wait..." Yurina felt herself getting drowsy despite usually being a night owl, and Mingi could swear he felt the same, but he truly felt safe with her that he couldn't help but feel himself drift away.
His yawn made her giggle before she pulled away from him.
"Maybe we should go home," she said, looking up at him.
T H E R E T U R N
"I told you, you didn't have to come up all the way here," Yurina told him as they walked down the corridor to her apartment, fingers still interlaced.
"And I told you I wanted to," he countered as he looked at her through his lashes.
"Well, we're here," she announced as they stood by her door.
"Oh, that was quick," he said, disappointed.
"We can take the stairs next time," Yurina stated before she bite the inside of her cheeks. "We're doing a 'next time' right?" she asked suddenly losing a bit of her confidence.
"Uh," Mingi took a moment to take a ring off his finger. "Let's say I forgot this with you, and it's very dear to me, so we have to meet up the moment you wake up tomorrow, so I can take it back from you," he made up a whole story in a second as he dropped his ring in her hand, and she burst out laughing.
"You're on," she told him.
"Good night then," he slowly pulled his hand away from hers, yet she held on until she couldn't.
"Good night," she replied, stepping forward quickly to peck his cheek before pulling away.
The man was left speechless as she unlocked her door, and she turned around to him one last time to speak.
"Text me when you get home so I know you got home sa-" before she could even finish her sentence he was cupping her face, his lips on hers.
Her heart almost lunged out of her chest, but once she recollected herself, she kissed him back, a smile forcing itself on her lips until they pulled away.
"Sorry," he muttered, not knowing where that came from himself.
"Great, now I have something to take back from you tomorrow, too," she smirked, putting on a coy act despite how every inch of her skin was on fire.
"I'll text you when I get home," he confirmed with her earlier request, taking a step away from her after tucking a few strands of her hair behind her ears.
"I'll stay awake until you do, so you better not forget," Yurina warned him.
"Bye, Yuri," he waved slightly, his hand constricted by the fabric of his pocket.
"Bye, Mingi," she muttered back, watching him walk until he took a corner and disappeared from her sight.
She sighed, coming down from a high, then turned to open the door, only for two people to come stumbling to the floor once she did.
She eyed the two, "were you two eavesdropping!"
The couple didn't even deny it, immediately picking themselves up.
"He calls her Yuri!" Yulhee celebrated.
"They're gonna meet up again tomorrow!" Yunho joined her as he cheered.
"Oh, please," Yurina rolled her eyes before she smiled. "Did you hear what he said about the ring," her facade fell through as she began squealing with her best friends.
"'Call me when you get home, or else I won't sleep,'" Yunho mimicked her with a higher pitch, making her laugh before smacking him.
"Shut up," she threatened as she laughed.
"Aw, the beauty of early love," Yulhee sighed dreamily. "Enjoy it before he turns into a big baby," she hissed, making her boyfriend gasp at the audacity.
"Shush, you don't get to shit talk Yunho anymore; he is officially my favorite person since he set me up with Mingi," Yurina playfully pursed her lips.
"Hey, I'm the one who texted you if we should leave the house so you two could come over," Yulhee boasted, making Yurina choke on her spit.
"You what?" she gasped.
"Had to be prepared," Yunho shrugged.
"You two are something else," Yurina huffed before pulling them into a hug.

Hey guys, I decided to write this on a whim so I could upload it on my birthday (I might've ditched studying for it too...) so it isn't proof read; I'll prolly do that later.
In case y'all don't know, Mingi and Yunho are my biases.
This isn't a self-insert though, I'm literally 154cm 😭
Have a great day/night!
