Sans is a normal monster, that tries to live a normal life. Why do you ask, it's because he suffer of ipeseity since childhood. This is a rare desise and it's difficult to remove and it cause the loose of every emotions and have different personalities.

In fact the same personalities take the emotions and use them to take control of the body of the infected monster, and even if it's rare, it's not a deadly desise, so a monster death can't be caused by this desise.

Though even if this doesn't cause death it can be really difficult to live with it. In fact some monsters commit suicide because they can't take it anymore or they get killed by other monsters. Unfortunately there is no cure, but if a monster is able to find a soulmate the effects can be reduced.

But the effects can be also deadly for the them, because love isn't an emotion so it can cause an emotional over load (it's not real I just made this up), if someone were to ever experience this they will not be able to move until they got over it or confessed.

Sans is unfortunately in this situation. He is in love with his best friend Red and he can't help but having mixed feelings aboult it, causing him to not be able to move.

From the last time he walked it's exaclty passed 2 weeks and during those weeks Red always went to visit him or to take care of him when his brother was off training. With this continue interaction between the two Sans wasn't able to get over his feelings or confess, so, he just stayed lay down on his bed hoping for this to end.
