And you laugh, and you dance in the wind.
When you have wanted to be wanted all your life, and then somebody wants you, it feels like cheating. It feels like eating something you are not supposed to eat, and you eat it too quickly, always afraid of your lover walking in and seeing it smeared all over your face, red, the damning evidence of your hunger to be wanted, and nobody wants to love someone too desperate to be loved, so you do your best not to be desperate, you walk in the harsh January sun with your hands freezing in your pockets and try to look like someone who doesn't want anything too much. Here's the thing, you want everything so much that you're like a ravine in the shape of a woman, taking in anything that seems like it could be love.

the move from atlanta, georgia to albuquerque, new mexico was tough one for natalie morrison.
it started with a classic divorce story. two people, previously in love ( / there would have been a time for suCH A word ), fall out of that love they used to have, they divorce, leaving their family in ruin. ( / tomorrow, aNd tomorrow, and tomorrow, )
davide morrison was already knee deep in alcoholism, part of the reason of divorce, and somehow valarie morrison, now sullivan, managed to convince the court to give davide primary care of the children. ( / creeps in this petty pace from day to day ). and so the morrison girls, minus the oldest, are stuck with their beer addicted father that can barely remember where he is or even who his own children are. ( / to the last syllable of recorded time, )
despite the memory damage from all the alcohol, davide was conscious enough at the time to make the choice to move to albuquerque. ( / and all our yesterdays have liGhtEd fools )
so natalie found herself finishing her first year of high school in unfamiliar territory ( / the way to dusty death. out, out, brief candle! ), with no friends.
then, summer hit, and natalie had nothing to do other than help her odd neighbour, chuck mcgill, ( / life's but a walKIng shadow, a poor pLayer ) clean his house. and of course, the only interesting part of that was chuck's younger brother, jimmy mcgill.
jimmy was a rather lively man who worked as a lawyer in public defence. ( that struts and frets his hour upon the stage ) natalie had to admit, she almost looked up to him.
he was what she wanted to be: funny, friendly, loyal. he seemed like the kind of person someone wanted to be friends with. ( / and then is heard no more: it is a taLe )
but what is an interesting person than an intimidating figure? ( / told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, ) anytime natalie tried to talk to him, she felt as if everything she said was wrong.
so, she'd just wait until there was a chance they would have to do something together. maybe work together on something. maybe she'd go and see one of his court cases.
but for now, she'd just wait. alone.
( / Signifying nothing. )

i unpublished this for recasting!!! but it's back now
