Natasha woke up in the morning to the smell of coffee. She stretched, opening her eyes when her arms made contact with what felt like a body. Frowning in confusion, she looked around only to discover she wasn't in her room, but in the middle of a blanket and pillow pile in the Compound living room.

To her right, Wanda was curled up and still fast asleep. To her left, Steve was awake. From the looks of it, he'd been awake for a while.

"Good morning." He smiled.

Natasha shook her head and proceeded to bury her face in his chest.

Last night had been filled with nightmares for all of them. After Steve found Natasha in the living room in the middle of the night, he joined her for a movie. Wanda came out next, face filled with terror until she spotted Natasha and Steve. She'd practically nose dived into Natasha's lap, making herself as small as possible while Natasha had muttered soothing words in Russian to her. An hour later, Sam joined them. Once they'd grouped together in the living room, they had been able to fall back asleep.

"What time is it?" Natasha grumbled.

Steve glanced at the clock on the muted TV, drawing Natasha's attention to it. It was 7:49AM and the news was playing with subtitles. With a soft sigh, Natasha relaxed against Steve and let herself wake up slowly.

"Good morning, Nat."

Natasha craned her neck up, looking over Steve's shoulder to see Pepper with a cup of coffee and a tablet.

"Good morning," she replied.

With a short smile and a quick wave, Pepper said goodbye and walked out the Compound door to where Natasha could spot Happy waiting.

Once Pepper was gone, it was just the four of them in the living room. Natasha knew it would be an hour or two before Sam and Wanda woke up, but she didn't mind staying where she was. They didn't have any reason to be on the lookout for danger, so she figured she could enjoy the first relaxed morning in a year.

Natasha risked shifting so she could get more comfortable, freezing when Wanda shifted as well. When she didn't wake, Natasha relaxed back against Steve and they fell silent once again.

Sam and Wanda slept until nearly 10AM. 

Sam would have kept sleeping, but Wanda accidentally hit his face when she stretched. With a groan, he swatted her back, nearly hitting Natasha in the process. When he opened his eyes, he seemed confused as to where he was. After a few seconds, though, he blinked and sat up.

"Back at the Compound, but still abiding by runaway rules," he muttered.

"But without squirrels for breakfast," Wanda muttered, burying her face in the pile of blankets.

With Sam no longer sleeping on him, Steve was able to move out from under Natasha. He extended a hand to her, pulling her to her feet while Sam and Wanda woke up slowly.

Following Steve into the kitchen, Natasha went straight to the coffee maker. A quick check of the cabinet revealed pancake mix so while Sam and Wanda slowly cleared up the living room, Natasha handed Steve the box of pancake mix to get started on.

By the time Wanda and Sam had the living room tidied back up, there was a full plate of pancakes and toppings waiting for them at the table. As soon as the last pan of pancakes was finished cooking, they started to eat.

They had only just begun when Tony walked into the dining room, stopping shortly at the sight.

"Good morning," he grunted, heading towards the coffee machine.

"Morning, Tony," Steve replied. Sam and Wanda merely nodded.

Natasha kicked the chair at the head of the table out, motioning for Tony to join them. He looked hesitant, but when she rolled her eyes and told him to sit down beside her, he did as instructed.

"We sign on Saturday, right?" Natasha asked, watching as Tony drowned his pancakes in syrup. She wrinkled her nose at the sight.

"Yeah, you do," he confirmed with a nod. "Have any plans then?"

"No," Natasha answered, letting the room fall silent.

Tony finished his pancake quickly then scooted his chair back. With a wave over his shoulder, he left the kitchen and headed back down to his lab while the rest of the group finished off the mass of pancakes.
