Chapter Twenty-Three

SOPHIE'S POV

It was a dark night....

The Neverseen were surrounding me and Fitz......

" We'll kill the boy first, then the Moonlark," They said menacingly.

" No!" I screamed. " Kill me, not him!"

Fitz looked at me with love and grief in his eyes.

" Soph, please, I will sacrifice myself."

He stepped into the flame they had created.

And then he dissapeared, while they laughed and shouted and pointed at where he had been.

" Your turn," One turned to me.

" No!" I shouted. " Leave me alone, you said only one of us had to sacrifice!"

They laughed evily, grabbed me under my armpits, and threw me in the flame.

The last things I saw before my head went down was their face....burnt with scars and anger.

And then everything went dark.

-------------------

I woke up drenched in sweat. The sun was barely beginning to creep into the sky.

I shuddered at the thought of my horrifying dream.

I knew the dream meant something. I loved Fitz too much.

So I needed to talk to him.

There were some important things we needed to discuss.

                                              TIME SKIP SIX MONTHS

FITZ'S POV

I wrung my hands.

" You can do it," Biana whispered to me.

It was an annual date with Sophie, but this time it was special, and different.

And then there was a knock on the door.

" Sup," I said to Tam, as I opened the door and let him in.

How was this date different you ask? Well, Sophie and I were double dating with Biana and Tam.

Tam and I both had some pretty important things to discuss with our girlfriends.

After Sophie and I had both been attacked by the Neverseen, we decided that we should always be together in case it happened again. Still, six months later, after Sophie discovered the sign on her door, and had the dream, nothing had happened. That was a relief.

" Hello?" A petite voice called.

" Sophie!" I ran over to her and gave her a hug. She hugged me back.

" So, where are we going today?" She asked, looking at me with her big brown eyes.

" A special lake," I replied, kissing her lips.

She smiled up at me. " What are we waiting for? Let's go!" She turned on her heel and walked out of the house. I grabbed the picknick basket and followed her.

About ten minutes later, we arrived at Lake Crystal. Biana and I had named it that because of the crystal clear waters.

" Sophie, can I talked to you for a few minutes. Alone?" I added when she glanced at the others.

" Sure," She replied.

I winked at Tam and he winked back.

I brought Sophie to a flowering tree with a bench seated for two. I helped her put some of the flowers in her hair too.

" What did you want to talk to me about?" She asked as she fidgted with a flower petal.

I slid off the bench on put on knee down, taking a deep breath before blurting, " Sophie Elizabeth Foster, will you marry me and make me the happiest man alive?"

And that's the cliffhanger, guys. Enjoy your wait!
