JS Prom Night

Adam straightened his suit as he got out of his car. He is only 15 but he was able to have his student's license making him eligible to drive one.

Having to spend a magical night with his long-time crush is indeed something worth waiting for.

He pressed on the doorbell and Lilac's  cousin, Orange, stepped out and greeted him. She led him inside after closing the gate.

After some time, the woman he has been waiting for walked down the stairs looking beautiful in her A-Line V-Neck Coral Pink Floor-Length Gown. Her long ash brown hair was curled up and he couldn't help but just adore her beauty.

"You look so gorgeous, Lilac." He said when she finally approached him.

"You're not so bad yourself, Adam." She said and smiled.

"Oh my gosh! Ang ganda ng anak ko!" Her mom exclaimed and had her camera ready. "PA! Ang anak mo, dalaga na!"

Her dad came from the study and he leaned his back at the door.

"May dalaga na talaga ako." Her dad said thoughtfully. He even wiped the corner of his eye and smiled.

"Good evening po, Tito and Tita." Adam smiled politely at them.

"A very handsome man for an equally lovely lady! What a perfect match!" Her mom cooed and remembered the camera in her hands. "Oops, before you go. Let's take some pictures of the two of you!"

"Ah, tita. Pwede din po ba sa cellphone ko?" Adam asked shyly.

"Of course, hijo! Akin na!" She nodded and the youngsters took some poses and even wacky shots.

"Una na po kami, Tito and Tita. Para hindi din po matraffic kami." Adam said and both the adults nodded.

"Ingat sa pagdrive, ha." Her dad said and led them to his car. "Be home by 10 or earlier."

"Bye, pa. Ma." Lilac said and so did Adam.

In a few moments, they are on the road. Silence filled the air.
Shortly, they arrived at their school, Stradborgh Academy.

The JS Prom is to be held at the spacious airconditioned auditorium at the ground floor of the campus.

The event started promptly at 6:00 PM and the program followed. It was around 8pm when the students were free to dance around with their classmates and friends.

When mellow songs started playing, Adam approached her side and asked her for a dance which she gladly accepted.

"Alam mo ba, hindi last, last week ang una nating pagkikita?" He asked, meeting her eyes.

"Huh? Paano? Bakit hindi ako aware?" Lilac asked, her forehead creased with confusion.

"It was on the 16th of June. At exactly 9:45 in the morning. When you gave me your first glance. " He said as they swayed along with Born For You song of David Pomeranz. "Hindi mo makita kung anong section ka this year. Ilang beses kang tumalon pero hindi ka nakakasingit sa harapan. Natamaan mo ng buhok mo ang mata ko and when you heard me, you turned around to apologize."

Lilac gasped. "That was when I knew that the woman beside me is bound to be mine. Yes. I fell in love at your first glance."

Her cheeks warmed up and she lookef away. He chuckled.

"Did I make you uncomfortable? Sorry. I think it's about time to be real." Adam said and he lifted her chin up. "From now on, hindi na ako mahihiya sa iyo. I will be honest, from this day forward. Akala ko talaga, nililigawan ka ni Carter." He laughed.

"Alright, everyone. Take your seats. Time to announce the Prom King and Queen!" Sir Kevin Bernal told everyone and they obliged. He turned to face Ma'am Carmen Ramos and grinned, "shall we begin?"

"Of course, Sir Kevin! I'm sure, they are all excited!" Ma'am Carmen exclaimed. "The Face of The Night goes to...."

"Miss Lydia Almanac Tamayo!" Sir Kevin hollered and everybody cheered.

"Oh my gosh!" Lilac gasped and she stood up to accept the sash and flowers. She stopped for her photos to be taken by their official school photographer and Adam couldn't be prouder. She took her seat and after a few moments, the next honorary title is announced.

"For this year's Dashing Guy in Suit is.... " Ma'am Carmen introduced as the students anticipated for their names to be called. "Mister Adam Jussam Justamano! Come on up, Adam!"

"Go, bro!" His friends slapped him playfully and he got up to take his sash and have his photos taken.

When everyone is seated, the JS Prom King and Queen were announced and they were no other than Adam's cousin and his friend, Brix.

"Hello again to our face of the night." Adam grinned at Lilac when the event ended and they are about to go home.

"Anong sabi ng dashing guy in suit?" Lilac answered back and both laughed inside the car on their way home.

"What can I say, we're destined to be together." He said and Lilac smiled widely.

Maybe, just maybe, it was that first glance that led them to find love and friendship in each other.

It has become their start of happy ever after.
