Scar rolled down the corridor. The screams were still there but this time they were faint. This was a different corridor. A special one. To his right was Stress. His left, Iskall. Scar stopped.
He spun his wheels so he could face Stress.
"I'm so sorry for doing this. I didn't mean it."
His words were filled with care and empathy. It touched the girl's heart.
"You didn't..."
"Stress don't trust him."
Iskall's voice spoke for the first time since he was knocked out. He interrupted what Stress was saying and Scar looked to the floor.
"You think you so clever. You're the one who got your friends here in the first place." There was no care anymore. Scar was a brilliant liar.
"You thought you could come here and rescue the pretty avian and for what? Do the rest of you would be stuck here forever?" Scar looked up at Stress and chuckled.
"You thought that you would get away with it? Well, what if I do this?"
Scar's eyes went blue and Iskall's eye shut as he clutched his stomach. Stress ran to the bars of her cell and tried to reach out to Scar. To distract him. To stop him. To do anything to help Iskall. But it was no use.
———————————————————————————
Iskall's mind was full of interesting memories. Almost everything from his childhood had to do with hybrids and almost everything in his adult life had Stress in it. Scar smirked to himself as he walked along the endless hallways of memories. There were doors upon doors of months and even more of years. They were all different colours based on the main emotion of that day. Yellow for happiness, red for anger, pink for love and so on.
Scar opened one door. It was blue, for sadness.
Iskall was sitting on the floor of his parents living room, he was no older than eight or nine. The television had the news blaring. It was talking about hybrids. Scar walked into the room and stood at the side of the room. Behind Iskall were his parents.
"Look at the disgusting things. How dare they think they can take over our world."
It was in Swedish but Scar could easily translate it using Iskall's knowledge of English.
The small boy sitting on the carpet looked past the differences. They were still people, kind of. But they deserved kindness.
"They can't help being different. It's not their fault."
He was slapped.
"You don't get to talk back to us. Especially not when it comes to them. They're abominations and a disgrace to the world. Go to your room and think about what you just said."
His voice was not shouting but that somehow made it worse. Like he wasn't angry, just extremely disappointed in his son for thinking the way he did.
The memory ended and Scar walked back into the hallway. Most doors after that for a while were blue. Mainly consisting of hearing about the hybrids on television or getting made fun of for supporting them.
Scar walked down, still surrounded by blue doors. He started to run. Blue door after blue door after blue door came and went. Again and again and again. Getting darker in shade. Until there was a single yellow. It stood out like a sore thumb and Scar had to go through it.
He entered a school cafeteria and the noise pierced his ears, he hadn't heard this in years. He almost walked out of the memory right there and then when the noise suddenly went down to whisper. Curiosity got the better of him and he stayed to see what would happen.
A head of curly blonde hair was moving through the children Scar tried to move to see who it was but the person's face was constantly behind others heads. Iskall was sitting at a table alone playing with his food and Scar watched as the blonde headed child sat down beside Iskall. The swede was shocked when the table moved but calmed down when he saw the boy beside him. As Scar set eyes on the child, he got the feeling he had seen him before.
"Hey, your Iskall right? My name is Wels. Or Hels when I'm angry." He smiled and held his hand out for Iskall to shake, which he did.
"What do you mean when you're angry?"
It turned out that Wels was a human hybrid. That might sound like just a normal person but in reality, it was very strange. Wels was considered mentally unstable and bipolar for years until doctors realised that there was quite literally another person living in his mind that fed off his negative emotions. It would grow too powerful for Wels to handle and take over, being extremely strong and violent. Scar watched as the two boys talked, laughed and ignored the whispers that were coming from the other children.
He left that memory and went back into the hallway. The doors from then started getting lighter and lighter in shade of blue, they slowly transitioned to yellow. As Scar walked through the years the doors stayed yellow, with a few pink dotted in here and there. He had never seen anything quite like it. Nobody was ever this happy. It was too good to be true, surely?
And it was. The yellow doors stopped after a few years and for as far as Scar could see they were replaced with various shades of dark blue. Some looked close to being black. But the first one in the row was grey. A forgotten memory. Scar walked into the greyed out door and immediately knew why he recognised the boy in the cafeteria.
He walked into the upstairs of a house. Specifically, the one that Iskall and Wels lived in a few years ago, When Iskall was starting to get into hybrid saving. Scar looked up into the corner of the room and knew exactly what day it was. There were cameras on the walls. He knew there would be because he told his men to put them there.
Wels wasn't like anyone else. There had never been a human hybrid in recorded history. So when Concorp found out about him they were very curious. Scar ordered his vexes to install cameras into their house so he could watch how Wels acted.
After seeing a few 'temper tantrums' Scar had decided that it was enough. He wanted to bring Wels in for testing. See how it worked. If the other man inside him was capable of thinking for himself. Wels was still in Concorp to this very day.
He looked out the window on the far left of the upstairs he was standing in. The sun was just starting to rise and the light was almost leaking into the house. Iskall and Wels were in their appropriate rooms, sleeping. The front door handle started to shake. He could hear voices.
It was Concorp Stormers. The same ones that would go to Iskall and his friends in the present. Scar watched as they snuck up the stairs and opened Wels' creaky bedroom door. It woke him up and the panic immediately set in. Panic isn't normally a good feeling so it wasn't Wels that woke up. It was Hels.
Iskall heard bangs from Wels' room and woke up to find that there were no less than 20 Stormers surrounding the house. The swede yanked his bedroom door open and saw a horrifying sight. Hels was trashing as the Concorp Stormers were trying to force him out of his room. Iskall wasn't the strongest but he managed to get through to Hels. The hybrid wasn't in the right mind and was jolting around.
He wasn't being careful at all. Iskall was too close for his own good. Hels was trying to fight off the Stormers. Iskall was trying to get closer. Held didn't see him approaching. One of the Stormers saw Iskall and grabbed his shoulder to pull him away from Hels. This made Iskall move back suddenly.
Hels saw the sudden movement and attacked. He didn't care who was moving. He didn't care how they were moving. He just saw they were and that was it. Iskalls eye had never been the same after that. The Stormers threw him to the floor and pulled out a memory gun. I'll give you three guesses as to what it does. He had to sit holding his eye as his best friend was dragged away by Concorp.
Scar walked out of the memory and kept on down the hallway until he found the exact door he wanted. He opened it and was greeted by a familiar scene. No time passes in the mind unless your in the present mind. The present mind was a place you could go and interact with things as they were happening. Your real body would sit limp as you walked around messing with people in their heads. That's how the whole Concorp operation worked, experimenting on patients in real-time when they can't stop you. Leaving time and going into their deepest memories and traumas to use as leverage. All that you just read happened in no time at all. Quite literally.
Scar watched himself look up at Stress and chuckle.
"You thought that you would get away with it? Well, what if I do this?"
He knew the queue and immediately punched Iskall in the stomach. He grabbed his own stomach as Stress tried to get at the physical Scar. The bars of her cell stopped her. Memory Scar stepped through the bars of Iskall's cell and mind and through to Stress's.
"You see darling. I'm everywhere. Neither you nor your boyfriend can stop me."
Physical Scar just smiled and Stress clutched her head. His voice rung around her and she started screaming.
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD. GET OUT OF MY HEAD. GET OUT OF MY HEAD. GET OUT OF MY HEAD. GET OUT OF MY HEAD. GET OUT OF MY HEAD."
Memory Scar walked around Stress and reached out to put a hand on her shoulder, "I'm already in your head."
Stress tried to shove the invisible hand off of her and failed. So Memory Scar tightened his grip.
"I can interact with the physical world. But you can't interact with the mind. I only exist in your head. Hard to wrap your head around I know. I'm unstoppable"
"You're a psychopath."
Her voice was merely a whisper but Scar heard it. At that exact moment, Cub walked by. He looked at the poor girl and then at Scar's soulless body. He noticed the unnatural tightening of the fabric on Stress' shirt.
"Scar get out of her mind. Not just now. We have work to do." Physical Scars eyes returned to their normal brown as the grip on Stress relieved. As he rolled away Stress heard them talking, the voices getting quieter as they walked further away into nothing.
"But I like being able to walk."
"I know you do but we have to..."
