Chapter 26: Andrews Parents

"Andrew," my mother pushed her way through and ran over to me. She hugged me, "I know it was you."

"What are you talking about?"

She let me go of me. "We saw you in town with this little girl." They pointed at Rachel.

"Little?" Her father told her to calm down.

"I'm really happy that your out. Wait, how did you get out?" Mother asked.

I looked at Rachel for an answer, "Umm, good behavior."

My mother looked at Rachel then back at me. "Well, whatever you did now your out. Let's go home." She grabbed my arm and tried to pull me away.

"No!" Rachel yelled that as I snatched my arm away from my mother.

"Drew you're coming with us." My father said.

"We're not taking no for an answer." Mother added.

"Look let's just sit down and talk about this." Rachel's Father Beck jumped into the conversation.  "I'll stop the party and we can talk."

"No there's no need to talk about this. He's coming with us." My mother yelled.

"I'm staying here."

"What?" My father said as my mother had a shocked look on her face.

"Mom, if you guys really want me home then why didn't you get me out?"

They looked at each other then back at me, "Drew you were sick."

That's the same lie Rachel's mother used. "I was not sick. I was never sick."

"I think I can help," speak of the devil. "I think they were just concerned for you." She pats my back but I pushed her hand away from me.

"So like you were for me?" Rachel stepped in between her mother and me.

"So, Mother." She's pushed her mother away from me. "Why did dad give me a Birthday gift every year when I was away and you didn't?"

She couldn't answer but Rachel kept throwing the questions.

"Why did he call me every day and you only did it when he forced you too?" Her mother looked away.

"Why did you attack me when you saw me in the town."

"You attacked your own daughter?" Beck yelled at his wife Sabrina.

"Yes, she did. I even had to get her off Rachel. Then she fell down the hill." I said as all the attention went to her.

"Wait, you're the one that pushed her?" and now it's on me.

Beck pointed at me with an angry look on his face. I didn't push her Rachel did but there's no way I'm putting her under the bus.

"No one pushed her. Unless you count gravity." Rachel said.

I felt someone grab my arm, it was my mother. "This is a problem between them. You shouldn't get into their business." She pulled me towards the door.

"Where are you taking me?"

She didn't look at me. Her back was favoring me as she pulled me to the door.

"Back to the asylum." My father said.

"Like hell you are," Rachel yelled then I snatched my arm away from my mother.

"But you just said a moment ago that I was going home." Heck, I don't even have a home anymore. They packed up and moved.

"You had to have known we were making that up." my mother said as my father looked pissed off.

"I'm not sick. I don't belong in there." I tried to explain that shit to her but she wouldn't listen.

"Yes, you do. You are sick Andrew. You have always been sick." She tried not to yell at me.

"Then why haven't I always been in that place then huh? Explain that." I was looking for an answer from her but I got it from my father.

My father pointed at me, "Don't talk back to your mother son. What we say goes." And it wasn't the answer I wanted.

"I'm not a child anymore dad. I'm 18. You may think I'm still 17 since I didn't get a call or a visit from you for my birthday that was spent in that fucking place."

My father walked away, "Honey where are you going?" My mother yelled at him.

"I need to calm down," He yelled back.

He was doing circles around the house. He does this to calm down. I don't know why tho. I thought you wanted to slow your heart rate down not give it three cups of coffee.

"I'm not going back. You can't make me." I said.

My mother grabbed my hands and smiled at me, "You will thank me for this later. I just know it." She tried to pull me again but this time Rachel separated us.

"You aren't taking him."

My mother looks a Rachel. I can tell from her eyes that she was getting mad, "Little girl this has nothing to do with you."

I heard Sabrina laugh as Rachel balled up her fists.

"Okay, first of all, don't call me little girl. Do I call you old lady? No." My mom looked shocked. "Second," She pointed at her mother. "Stop your damn laughing."

Sabrina stopped laughing and looked at Beck. He was about to say something when Rachel continues.

"Now back to you." She points at my mother. "He doesn't belong in that damn place, you do."

"Excuse me," yep my mother is getting mad.

"You are either covering for someone or have serious mental problems," Rachel added.

"And what makes you think I have mental problems?" She placed her hands on her hips looking at Rachel.

"Well for starters you completely went to mental instead of covering for someone. So that proves that you are. You clearly care more about who you are covering for than your own son. I mean you're trying to point it to yourself thinking I wouldn't notice the nervous look in your eyes. Lastly, you think your gonna win this." Rachel said.

Damn. I held back my laughter and looked away.

"I-I-I'm not covering for someone." She took a step back.

"Then why stutter?" Rachel asked.

"Mumm well..."

So she cares about someone else other than me. "Who is the person?"

She didn't answer.

"Mother?"

She looked down for a moment then looked back at me and smiled. "We have to get you back," she went to grab me but Rachel slapped her hand away.

Before she could say anything there was a scream. I covered my ears scared that the screams were coming back. Rachel took my hands off my ears then hits me over my head.

"We heard it too. It's not just in your head."

"You did?"

I looked around. Beck said yes. Sabrina couldn't care less and my mother said no. The people at the party starts to get panic.

"Everyone stay calm down I will handle this," Beck called for some of the guards to watch the party guest while he looked around the house.
When he tried to leave the house my mother stood in his way. "Miss can you please move."

"I sorry but why are going out and looking for a scream that doesn't exist?" My mother said with a nervous smile.

"Miss Move." His voice became deeper.

"I'm sorry but i-"

Beck moved my mother to the side and walked outside.

"Wait," she yelled as we all walked out the front door.

The police heard her yelling and came to see what was wrong. "You three with me."

As they ran over to us my mother said, "Everything fine. You're not needed here."

I looked at her. "Don't listen to her" she looked at me as if telling me to shut up. "She's sick," I added.

Her eyes became bigger. We walked to the side of the house and nothing. When we made it to the back I have to admit.. I wasn't prepared to see what I saw.

Standing there was my father covered in blood. Beneath him was a dead girl laying face first on the ground and an open book next to her. The police that was with us arrested my father. I couldn't hear anything. All I could do was watch everything play out in slow motion. My father. My father is a murderer. Now all of this makes sense. He's been killing people around our around my window. That's why I've been hearing screams. Andy was right.

As I snapped out of it I saw my father was being dragged away. My mother was trying to get them to let him go but was arrested too. Rachel walked over to the girl laying on the ground. She seems familiar even though I haven't seen her face yet.

Rachel and I walked over to the girl. She turned the girl's body around a little and smiled a little shaking her head.  I couldn't see the dead girls face."

"Do you know her?" Beck asked as he walked over. "Yeah, I know her." She turned her all the way over so that we can see her.

That girl. She's the one that Andy told me to stay away from.

"Her names Emberly. She was one of the patients." Rachel took the book that was next to Emberly and opened it. Some of the pages had blood on them so it was hard to read.
