Toya & Tira- 18 Years Old

Fuyumi- 17 Years Old

Natsuo- 14 Years Old

Shoto- 10 Years Old

Tira sat at the small writing desk in her bedroom and dabbed some concealer over the bruise forming on her face from where her father had hit her. If Toya saw it, he'd end up fighting him again and get hurt even more. Her father had the maids deliver a pretty new outfit to her bright and early. At first, she thought it was his way of apologizing until she saw the note attached informing her she was to wear it when they met her prospective husband.

She shoved the box off the desk and watched it clatter to the floor and the pretty pale blue dress spill across her floor. Reaching for her stationary set she thought intently about what she was going to do. Her father hadn't taken her words seriously enough the night before. She'd meant what she said, she'd rather die than live the life her mother had lived, marry a monster, and be forced to have his children.

Struggling with what to write she tried to draft up a few letters to her mother and siblings but she couldn't find the words to say. She hadn't actually spoken to any of them in years. She wrote a very simple 'I love you and I'm sorry' and addressed it to her family. She left it atop her desk and made her way across the hall to Toya's room. His burns had been pretty severe and would definitely leave ugly necrotic looking scars. He was heavily medicated and had been drifting in and out of consciousness all morning.

She knew it was going to hurt him the most especially when she knew he wouldn't be able to stop her in his current condition. Tira stepped into his room and smiled as he groggily lifted his head from his pillow and smiled at her. He looked feverish.

"How are you feeling, Nii-chan?"

"Don't worry about me, I knew what I was getting myself into." He tried to play it cool but she could sense how much pain he was in, she felt it deep within her soul. "And now I'll be better prepared for next time."

"I wish there wasn't a next time." Tira frowned. "It's not worth it."

Toya sensed something different about her, there was a dark and dreary sense of hopelessness clouding her. It was like she'd completely given up. There wasn't any light left in her eyes. She was wearing a mask to try to placate him. "Tira?" He called out to her desperately feeling as if she were suddenly slipping through his fingers.

"What is it?" Tira looked down at him worried as she sat on the edge of his bed.

Toya reached up and tenderly stroked her cheek where her bruise was hiding beneath a layer of makeup. She forced herself not to react to the sudden pain as he touched her bruise. "Run away with me." He begged her.

"What?" Tira fought back tears, "what's this all of a sudden?"

"It's not all of a sudden. I've saved up enough money working at that stupid café to afford to get us an apartment for at least a year while we're at university, I'll find more work that's less annoying to keep up with other expenses. We can get away from that asshole...together."

Tira smiled down at her brother but it wasn't a real smile, it was a sad smile of one who'd already given up, "we can't do that."

"Why?"

The real reason was because she wouldn't be here anymore to run away with him, even if that did sound like a dream come true. "What about Fuyumi, Natsuo, Shoto and Mom?" She felt like a hypocrite but she couldn't tell him about her father trying to pawn her off in a quirk marriage or her cowardly escape plan. She was out of options. Toya was too weak from his injuries for them to be able to run away now.

Toya frowned, "We don't even know where Mom is, Fuyumi seems to get along with him okay, Shoto is the golden child and Natsuo's tough he'll find his own way out."

Tira shook her head.

Toya struggled to sit up ignoring her attempts to push him back down so he wouldn't aggravate any of his injuries. He gently caught her by the chin and turned her face to his. "I'm scared."

"Of what?" Tira asked softly and closed her eyes as he pressed his forehead against hers. He felt hot to the touch, tell-tale signs of a fever.

A/N: apparently I need to warn people...so here ya go....

"I'm scared if we don't run away now, we won't make it out of here alive." Toya pulled back a little before pressing his lips to hers, she'd left herself far too open and vulnerable sitting there with her eyes closed.

Tira froze as Toya kissed her. She didn't resist or try to push him away. She sat frozen in place until he finally pulled back. His turquoise eyes were somewhat glassy with fever. His cheeks reddened as if he'd just suddenly realized what he'd done. Deciding it was just something he'd done in his feverish state and it wasn't something to concern herself with, Tira helped him to lie back in bed.

"Tira." He gently caught her wrist in his hand feeling like he had to hold onto her so she wouldn't slip away.

"I love you, Nii-chan." She tenderly smoothed his crimson hair back as his eyes fluttered closed. "Thanks for always looking after me...I'm sorry for holding you back for so long...I won't be a burden for you anymore, so please live your life how you want to." She leaned forward and kissed the top of his head, "I want you to find happiness." Toya faintly heard her sad farewell in the back of his mind as he drifted into a fever dream.

Tira quietly left Toya's room. She returned to her room and locked the door before picking up the bottle of sleeping pills her father had refilled for her every other month. She'd never taken them before, despite his threats and insisting that she take them, Toya would dump them out slowly over time to make it look like she was taking them regularly he'd sneak into her room every night and hold her until she fell asleep before sneaking back out and no one was the wiser.

She went to her attached bathroom and closed and locked the door behind her before drawing a bath. As the tub filled with water, she unscrewed the lid of the bottle of sleeping pills and spilled some into her hand. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she thought of Toya and how hurt he'd be by her cowardly departure but she couldn't see any other options, this was the only way that she knew would put a stop to it all, for good. Death was the final escape, the only real escape. Her hands trembled and she nearly lost her hold on the bottle. Steeling herself she tipped her head back and dumped the handful of pills into her mouth.

Tira grimaced as she chewed them so they'd activate quicker. The taste was horrid. She nearly gagged but managed to swallow it down. Was that enough? She needed to be sure, the pills were her failsafe. She took another handful and repeated the process. The taste was almost too much for her to bear. She set the now nearly empty bottle of pills on the counter and rinsed her mouth out with water before glancing over at the bathtub. It was almost full. She turned off the faucet and stepped into the bath still in her lavender nightshirt.

"I'm sorry." She choked.

Her body shook with silent sobs as she tried to keep herself quiet so she wouldn't alert anyone to what she was doing. Shakily she eased herself into the tub and activated her quirk as she submersed herself in the water. A thick layer of ice with a black core formed over the waters surface trapping her within. Instinctively she held her breath. A few minutes ticked by and she was at her limit. As she was about to take a breath and fill her lungs with water, the happiest memory she had flashed across her mind. A memory when she was seven years old lying in a hospital bed with Toya, watching the fireworks. A small smile formed on her lips before she tried to take a breath. Water filled her lungs burning all the way down.

Toya woke with a start as it felt like his lungs were on fire. He'd felt this way once before, when Tira had died. His body protested as he jumped out of bed. He staggered to the door, the pain all over his body was nothing compared to the pain in his heart and the fire burning in his lungs. She was dying. As he threw himself out of his room, he saw his father standing outside of Tira's door looking down at his watch somewhat impatiently.

Enji turned to see his eldest son staggering out of his bedroom and frowned, "Toya, you're supposed to be in be-."

"OPEN THE GOD DAMN DOOR!" Toya screamed.

Enji's heart dropped as he looked to Tira's locked door; she hadn't answered him when he'd knocked on it but that wasn't unusual, he assumed she was just taking extra time to get ready. He tried the door handle, it was locked. He ripped the door off its hinges. There was no sign of Tira in her room. The door to her attached bathroom was shut but there was no sound coming from within. Her words from the night before echoed in his mind and he was overcome with dread.

"Tira!" Enji bolted for the bathroom, the door was locked. He ripped it off its hinges. The first thing he saw was an open bottle of pills on the counter, the second thing he saw threatened to rip his heart out of his chest. There was a thick layer of ice over the bathtub. It had a dark black core and through the ice he could see Tira beneath the water's surface. Her eyes were closed and there was a serene smile on her lips. It was too thick for him to break and his fire couldn't melt it. "TOYA!"

Toya was already a few steps behind him, he saw the ice over the tub and felt his heart shatter as he realized in a split second, he hadn't dreamed her sorrowful parting words, she'd really said them. "TIRA!" He let out a heart wrenching cry as he activated his quirk and dropped to his knees beside the tub. His flames melted the ice and he reached his bandaged arms into the freezing water and dragged her limp body out of the water with a sob.

"No...please...not again..." Enji breathed softly before wrestling her body away from a distraught Toya.

He quickly tried CPR. After only a few chest compressions, Tira began coughing up water. She hadn't been gone for long. Tira felt herself being pulled back from the darkness, death's cold comforting embrace left her and she let out a strangled cry as she realized her plan had failed.

"NO!" Tira screamed as she realized she was alive. She choked on a sob and silently prayed the pills would kick in soon.

Her father shook her roughly trying to keep her conscious, "Tira, how many pills did you take?" He demanded.

Tira uselessly tried to hit him but her body was too weak and her hits did absolutely nothing as she continued sobbing.

"Damn." Enji swore under his breath, he had to get her to a hospital, he had no idea how many she took. He lifted her into his arms his heart breaking with every cry, scream and weak attempt to hit him in protest. He hurriedly pocketed the pill bottle. He glanced down as he realized Toya was being oddly quiet and swore again as he realized he'd succumbed to the pain of his injuries and was lying unconscious on the bathroom floor. Everything was falling to pieces.

He carried Tira into her room, his gaze fell to a note sitting atop her writing desk in her pretty scrawling script. It was addressed to them all and had a single line that said, 'I love you and I'm sorry'. Tears welled in Enji's eyes as he marched past the desk and grabbed a throw blanket off her bed to wrap her in. He didn't need to save her from drowning and overdosing only to have her die from pneumonia.

Tira slipped into unconsciousness as her father carried her out to the awaiting car that had been ready to take her to meet her prospective husband. One way or another it was going to take her to some kind of prison. Tears froze to her cheeks as she realized she'd never be free.
