Epilogue
June 26, 2032
I had woken up earlier than usual that Saturday morning to a call from a number I hadn't heard from in a while: Sister Jude's.
I answered the phone, not sure of what she wanted. When I heard her voice, she didn't sound very good.
"Hello?" I asked, wondering why she had called. She didn't call often. I was surprised she hadn't called lately.
"Annamarie?" She questioned. I told her that it was me, so she continued, "I wanted to let you know that my first great-grandchild was born today. I encouraged my granddaughter to name her something special.."
"What did she name it?" I smiled when I asked. Sometimes Sister Jude would call me for random things, just something she wanted to talk about. She was getting older now, and she wasn't very well anymore.
"Annamarie Jude," I could tell she was smiling on the other end of the phone.
"Thats cute," I couldn't help but think that Sister Jude had asked her granddaughter to pick that name.
"I think it's beautiful," Sister Jude half-whispered.
"It's nice to talk to you again," I smiled.
"It is nice," she repeated, then went on to say, "I'll talk to you soon." She hung up.
I was puzzled, yet I put the phone down and walked into the living room of the Hemmings' home.
After seeing Luke come out of the kitchen, I smiled at him. He asked who I was talking to, and I told him the truth.
"I was talking to Sister Jude. Apparently, her granddaughter named her daughter Annamarie," I explained what the call was about to Luke.
"That's nice," he smiled. We sat down right before Oliver ran down the stairs to ask us both something.
"Mum! Dad! Can I invite my friends over tonight?" He exclaimed. Luke and I looked at each other before nodding at him and replying, "yes, you can."
"Thanks!" He smiled then ran back up the stairs. Makenna and Morgan were both in their room.
"We should have another kid," I smiled, leaning onto Luke. It seemed like he though I was crazy, "at 36? With three other kids, all teenagers? I don't think so."
"I think we should."
"It isn't happening," he looked down at me, "let's just be happy with the three we have now."
I smiled, "I am happy. Thankfully I've pushed all of the memories from the asylum aside. I don't think about it much anymore. When I do, I think about it a lot. I don't want to think about it anymore. And we have three kids and jobs, plus work do to here at home. I don't think I should be thinking about the past. I should be worrying about now."
"Good. I hated that asylum anyways," he rolled his eyes thinking about it.
"That's where you met me, though."
"Other than that part," he smiled, kissing my forehead.
