Day 2 Interview with a Vampire
"It's a pleasure to meet you."
"I highly doubt it."
Dr. Zane couldn't help smirk as he wrote a quick note on his laptop and his patient sitting across from him looking quite comfortable despite being swathed up in a strait jacket with a few heavy padlocks at his sides. He just kept looking at the doctor across from him and every few seconds licked his lips, his eyes never missed a second.
Zane never missed a beat either.
His first day start was proving to be quite a headache.
"How was your day on February 20th? How did your day start off?"
"I'm hungry doc. And you look like a snack." George Van burst into laughter at his own words, cackling as though he was at a comedy show and about to wet his pants. He shook his head, wheezing as he coughed from laughing. "Sor-Sorry, I just had to do that. I don't often get chances to make jokes like that and have someone truly appreciate them." He gave me a wide, childlike smile. "You do appreciate my joke right doc? Riiiiiggghhhht?"
Zane just started at him unfathomably, tapping his pencil instinctively on his desk as he watched his patient grin and pester him like a child eager for there parents approval.
"Were you like this as a child yourself George? Or are you recreating your children's attitudes?" The question might have been harsh and Zane was expecting a blow back. George though...started sniggering.
"My kids are precious. They would never have to seek approval because they always had it. I am so proud of my little scampers." His eyes faded to almost whimsical. "It's a shame I lost them."
"Did you lose them?" Zane retorted as coolly as he could, his fingers grazing his keyboard as he waited for words to make his first report of the day.
"Yeah. I lost them. I got hungry."
It was too big of a first report.
"Do you know why you're here George?" George's only answer was to snigger at my question until he noticed the unmoving look of Zane who waited patiently without care. George's childlike whimsy attitude suddenly changed to a thirty year old bored banker days before he had lost his cool and murdered his entire family.
"That's a broad question doc. You may wanna make yourself a little clearer there.""Tell me what you think I am referring to then?""Oh may have the lord almighty have pity on me-""The lord almighty shows no pity for he's not there." Zane countered, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose as they slipped a little from the quick notes he scribbled in his notepad. "Do you believe in a higher power then? Or is a new thing to you?" "I believe I'm going to Hell."All Zane could think of and not reply was most likely yes."What do you like to do in here George? What's a pastime they allow you?""Oh gosh, I've caught up on so much, especially with the changing world. I mean the technology is out of this world I hear. Phones changing, home phones are less popular now. And so much books to read. Apparently vampire stories are hot topic nowadays. I'd fetch a good buck or two, wouldn't you say?" He winked."Yes," Zane drawled, slightly annoyed at the thought. "It would seem supernatural is...popular even as a romance.""You are definitely not going to enjoy yourself here." George grinned, chortling as he shook in his straight jacket. Zane watched him casually and nodded slightly."We'll see." He added his final notes on his laptop. "I'm already settling in."Hi all, thank you all for the reads and reviews. Just to clear up any confusion, the story is now in 3rd POV. Happy readings! I hope yo
