Day 12 A Teenager with the Clown Face and other atrocious pasts

"How have you been these days, William?"

"Good, sir."

"You don't need to call me sir. You may call me Zane or Sam. Whichever you prefer. May I call you William still?"

"Yeah sure, whatever." William stared intensely at the wall on his right, determined to get this over with. Zane sighed and Brook's couldn't help but feel pity for the doc. It was like any parent dealing with a sullen teenager.

"William, I was wondering, if you could tell me about the car accident that happened on-"

"You have it all on file, don't ya?"

"I don't have your side of the story now, do I?" William frowned and Brook's shifted confused behind the glass wall. Why would Zane ask about it? What did that matter right now?

"You want my version? What makes you think it's any different from what others have said?"

"Because of the guilt you feel?" The boy glared at Zane darkly.

"I don't have any guilt-"

"One of your friends died immediately on scene. Another is paralyzed from the waist down. There was high contents of alcohol in their system. It wasn't your car, though you said you were driving and so did they. Why feel guilt when you had no alcohol in your system? I don't know why the police didn't care to look upon this further and just go along with what everyone else said. But now, it's gotten you in here. Your friends and family, they abandoned you and your cousin. Why?"

"...because we are freaks."

"No one is."

"I didn't drive."

"I know."

"They were drunk. I didn't know until they picked me up. They refused to listen to me. And...I don't know what happened, but my friend driving, Randall, looked at me and..." His face faltered as though fading to a memory. "And then there was nothing."

"You scared them?"

"My face. It changed."

"How so?"

"Like I became someone's worst fear. I've never seen it. Cause I'm terrified to see my own worst fears." William lowered his gaze, his fists clenched as he trembled. "I don't even know what my worst fear is."

"Not everyone does." Zane shuffled closer, placing his pad down and leaning in close to the boy. "William, you know why I'm here. At this facility." The boy didn't say anything but something made Zane's expression harden slightly. "I don't need to ask if you ever had trouble with the doc, he doesn't appear to be missed." William scoffed, rolling his eyes as he leaned back in his chair.

"You could say that right. And not one jackass here listened to us." William glared at Brooks through the window as if he knew he was there and Brook's grimaced. He felt guilt for what these kids and some of the other containments had gone through but he was really just doing his job. But considering Dr. Zane continued to get more agitated, Brook's figured it wouldn't be long before shit went down.

"Quite frankly, if I'm being honest here Doc," William leaned in, his face arrogant and a smirk glimmered over his face. "What happened to him, I heard. And he deserved more. And I wish, I got to do that. That bastard was nervous around me but he never showed it. But he didn't care about Hugh, or Yumi. He was cruel to them. Made them cry. Left bruises on them. And no one..." He threw another livid look out the window. "Did shit. Even just for the kids. Us grownups, we can deal with it. And someone did. Quite frankly, I praise whoever did it." William stood up, stepping away from the doc, the same arrogant smirk back in place. "And whoever did it, they ain't giving it away without a fight."

"What are you thinking?" Brook's muttered, staring down into the arena where the containments gathered for a break. Zane stared darkly at them all and gave Brook's a look that siad he was far impressed.

"I don't know. When it's you against the other, having others having your back, it's hard to break. And quite frankly, I don't blame them. Afterall, if the culprit is found and it's one of them," Zane gestured to the containments. "What are you going to do to them?" Brook's had no answer and Zane sighed irritably. "And I think when we find the culprit, if it is a containment, then you're going to have a war on your hands. And a lot of blood."
