The Asylum

Just a warning, this story is very violent and will make your stomach wench. You have been warned.

Once in a regular house in a regular neighborhood lived a not so regular family. The father was named Brayden. He had brown hair with a blue streak down the side of it. His eyes were brown and he was a very tall and tan man. He had several ear piercings on one ear. The mother was named Alexandra or just Alex. She had black hair with pink dipped ends. She has a regular dark navy blue eye and a cyber-purple eye from an incident in the Marines. One cyber-arm that is blended with her skin tone. She has a single gold ring ear ring in her left ear. Alexandra is pregnant with her first kid. A girl. She had just retired from the Marines when she found her parents dead in their living room.

One day Alex heard a very peculiar noise behind her. She quickly looked behind her, getting uneasy. She shrugged it off after a little bit and continued on with her day. A couple days later, she heard footsteps behind her. This was the fifth time that week that she has heard footsteps. She began having nightmares about these noises. She grew more and more on edge each day. One day, Brayden asked what was wrong. She came out with everything and started to shake. Tears filled her eyes as she told her beloved husband everything. Brayden gave her a long hug, trying to comfort his trembling wife.

A couple weeks had past and Alex had gotten worse. She finally had it and started getting used to the weird noises. She kissed Brayden and told him that she was to go to the store and get groceries. “Do you want me to come with you?” Brayden asked, concerned for his eight month pregnant wife. “I’ll be okay.” She replied a bit uneasy. She left the house and started walking to the store. Little did the small family know, this would change their whole lives.

After a couple hours, Brayden started getting worried. Alex had left for the store six hours ago and still hadn’t returned. He got up and left the house, going to look for his wife. Not even halfway to the store, he spotted something shining in a bush. He walked over and looked at what it was and felt his stomach turn. There in the bush was Alex’s wallet and scarf. His face filled with worry as he stared at the wallet and scarf. He quickly ran home, calling the Authorities on the way.

After a few weeks of his wife being gone, Brayden had started to lose his sanity.  He rarely ate, never slept. All he did was search for his wife. The Authorities had stopped looking for her the day before and told Brayden that they did the best they could. Brayden sat in the dark lonely house, today being the day his wife would pass over to nine months pregnant.

After a few more weeks, Brayden started to lose hope. He sat in his messy and dusty house, his head in his hands. He went to get up, when there was a heavy knock on the door. He got up and walked over to the door. He opened it slowly, Peeking out to see a letter on the welcome mat. He leaned down and grabbed the letter and went back into the house. The letter was oddly light and was in a light grey envelope. He opened it slowly, the paper easy to rip. He pulled out the letter and looked at it. It was written in a strange foreign language he had never seen before. He was a bit confused, but quickly went to his computer. Brayden’s curiosity rose as he searched through the translator to find a similar looking language. He found one that looked similar to the letter and put the letter through it.

The letter turned out to be in russian. He read the letter slowly, the words a bit odd to him. The letter said:

            Dear Mr. Fluxfeather

We would like to inform you that we found someone by the name of Alexandra Fluxfeather. We would like you to come see her in Russia this weekend or when you are free. I will put the address at the bottom of this note. We have sent you a plane ticket with this letter. We look forward to seeing you this weekend.

                       Sincerely

                        Yates

            Address: 1223 south, marsh ln.

Brayden’s hope returned. He immediately printed out the letter and went into his room to pack for the trip. He threw in a change of clothes, a toothbrush, and a comb. He zipped up the case and put it by the door. He pulled the plane ticket out of the envelope and set it on top of the case. His luck was finally turning and he was so ready.

The day finally came and Brayden locked up the house and left for the airport. He called a taxi and thought the whole way there. When he arrived, Brayden quickly went through the check in and boarded the plane. The lack of sleep finally caught up to him and he crashed as soon as the plane was in the air. He slept all the way to Russia, snoring every now and then. He finally arrived and was woken by a plane attendant. He rubbed his eyes and stood, getting his suitcase and exiting the plane. The sun shined in his eyes, his vision a bit blurred from just waking up. He got outside the airport and pulled out the letter. He walked up to someone and asked if they knew where it was. Of course they didn’t understand what he was saying, but when they saw the address, they pointed him to the way. He nodded and started walking in the way he was shown, his excitement starting to kick in.

After walking around for hours and asking people about the address, he finally made it to a tall building. He looked at the address then the building. His stomach turned. The address to him to a mental hospital. He walked in slowly, the lobby being almost damp and off putting. The walls were old and moldy. A receptionist was sitting at a desk on the other side of the room. He walked over and hoped she spoke english. “Hello. My name is Brayden Fluxfeather. I was told my wife was here. Alex Fluxfeather?”  He said with a bit of worry. The receptionist just nodded and pointed at the door behind her. He started feeling very uneasy as he walked over to the door and opened it. Behind the door was a doctor speaking to a nurse. “Excuse me. Im Brayden Flux-” Brayden started before getting cut off. “Ah! Brayden! Welcome. Come come. I take you to Alexandra!” The doctor smiled and took Brayden’s arm. He pulled him down a dark hallway. “I’m doctor Yates.” The doctor said. “Nice to meet you” Brayden said with a bit of discomfort. Doctor Yates lead Brayden into a dark room. An observation room. There was a small tv that showed a small padded room with white leather walls. The padded room wasn’t lit well so there was a very dark corner in the room. “Where is Alexandra?” Brayden asked confused. “In there” Yates said. Brayden looked at the tv screen. He took a small microphone from the desk and spoke. “Alex?.” He said with a shaky voice. Movement was seen in the dark corner. Out of the darkness came Alex. She was in a straight jacket, her hair was a mess. What Brayden saw, frightened him. Her messy hair covered her face. “Alex?” Brayden said again, his voice even more shaky then before. Alex looked up, her hair moving from her face. Her Cyber eye was powered down, wide open, and shattered like she had been struck there. Her normal eye was twitching. Dried blood ran down her face from her ear where her gold ring earring was supposed to be. In its place was a gash from the gold ring being ripped from her ear. The worst part was her mouth. Her mouth was covered in blood from the wounds. Her mouth was stitched shut with black thread. Brayden couldn’t help but puking on the floor.

Alexandra left the house and started walking to the store. She had her scarf around her neck and her wallet tucked tight in her pocket. She hummed a song while she walked, the first time she was truly relaxed in a while. She heard footsteps behind her, but she ignored them. Worst mistake she had ever made. Suddenly someone grabbed her scarf and pulled her back. She started to choke, coughing and fighting to get away. The person dragged her into the bush by the scarf, her air cut off. Something injects into her neck then everything goes black. The figure threw her over their shoulder, walking away. Leaving her scarf and wallet behind.

Brayden felt hot tears form in his eyes. Seeing his wife this way hurt him. “How did this happen? Where did you find her?” Brayden started asking frantically. “She wondered in like this.” Doctor Yates said sadly. Brayden plopped down in the seat, his head racing. Brayden just watched the screen. “I’ll give you some time alone.” Dr. Yates said as he left. Brayden watched his wife. Alex was looking right into the screen. She tried to open her mouth but couldn’t. Brayden watched curiously. She managed to get her mouth open slightly, but had to close it from the pain. Her regular eye stopped twitching. Tears came to her eyes. Brayden grew worried. “She’s still in there. I need to help her!” He thought, getting up. He quickly left the room, searching the halls for the padded rooms. He whipped open door after door. He finally managed to find the padded cells and tried to open it. Locked. “Damn” Brayden said quietly to himself. “Alex? Can you hear me?” He said through the door. He waited. A Soft muffled reply came. “Brayden. G-get out of here w-while you still can” Alex said, Fighting the pain of her mouth. “I’m not leaving you” He said through the door. “Go! They’ll do this to you too!” Alex said with a cry. “Who will?” Brayden asked, getting concerned for his wife. “Doctor Yates! H-he did this. Please go. Please..” Alex said, starting to sob.

Alex woke in a dark room with only a single light shining down on her. Her head hurt. She blinked a few times before looking around. There next to her was a tray with two metal rods with smoothed ends. She tried to sit up, but couldn’t for she was strapped down to a table. She started to fight the restraints, trying to get free. She heard a door open and froze, looking around frantically. Out of the darkness walked a man. He was wearing a long white doctor’s coat and black shirt and jeans. He had round glasses on that reflected the light so she couldn’t see his eyes. He had a wide smile that seemed to go from ear to ear. “Welcome Mrs. Fluxfeather. Nice to finally meet you.” He said with a russian accent. Alex remained silent, eyeing the man as she fought the restraints. “Not talking huh?” The man went on. “I’m doctor Yates. I’ll be treating you today.” He said as he pushed Alex’s head down. Alex grunted, trying to fight Yates. Dr. Yates strapped her head to the table with a leather strap. He turned and flipped a switch, turning on a machine. He picked up the two metal rods and rubbed them together before putting on at each side of Alex’s head. He started to chuckle before pushing both rods to Alexandra’s head, sending a shock to her brain. She screamed, starting to spass slightly. “Hold still. It will make easier.” Yates said with a laugh. He pushed the metal rods to her head again, holding them there for longer. Alex screamed and yelled in agony. Yates started getting a sour face. “Too loud! Shut up!” Alex kept screaming in pain. Dr. Yates finally had enough. He set down the rods and yelled something at the door. A Nurse walked in with a needle and thread then left after handing them to Yates. The crazed doctor slowly threaded the needle and leaned over Alex. He pressed the needle to one side of Alex’s mouth and began sewing it shut. Alex only cried of pain. He went over it a couple times, making sure her mouth stayed sewn shut. After he finished, he set the needle down and picked the rods back up. He started shocking her again, laughing crazily. Alex slowly lost her mind, but little did Yates know that it was only temporarily.

Brayden remained at Alex’s door, not knowing what to do and not wanting to leave his wife. Brayden sobbed at the door on the other side. Dr. Yates came walking down the hall with his hands behind his back. “Ah Brayden. I see you found your wife’s room.” He said with a chuckle. Brayden didn’t move, only kept his head down. “Mr. Fluxfeather?” The doctor asked confused. Brayden suddenly jumped up and tried to tackle to doctor. Yates quickly reacted, pulling a syringe from his coat pocket and injected it into Brayden’s neck. “What shame. I was starting to like you.” He said with a frown. “Oh well. Nurse! Move him to “The room” and Alex too.” Yates watched the nurse drag Brayden off and only smiled.

Hours later, Brayden awoke. He was in a very dark room and couldn’t see anything. He tried to move his hand to rub his head, but couldn’t move his arm. Suddenly, a very bright light came on, blinding him. He tried to blink, regaining his sight. He was in a white room, only a door on the other side of the room. He looked down at himself, seeing that he was completely strapped in, head and all. There was no point in fighting the restraints. He quickly looked up as he heard the door open. Dr. Yates walked in, dragging Alex by the hair. Brayden wanted to scream, seeing his wife that way. Yates threw Alex down, she not being able to catch herself from the straight jacket. “Welcome.” Yates said with a slight laugh. “Nurse!” He yelled very loudly. A nurse came in with a baseball bat and handed it to the doctor. Brayden’s eyes went wide with instant sorrow. Seeing the crazed doctor with the bat next to his wife, gave him a very bad feeling. “You should have just stayed in that room Brayden. Would have made things easier.” Yates said with a frown. He lifted the bat, lining it up with Alex. Alex slowly stood, using the wall to do so. Dr. Yates quickly swung and struck Alex right in the stomach. Causing her to fall with a loud groan. Brayden yelled “NO!” He started to sob, seeing this happen to his pregnant wife. Yates started to repeatedly strike Alex with the bat, laughing all the while. Brayden was forced to watch, his eyelids cut from his eyes. Alex grunted and winced from the pain. She got a sudden rush of adrenaline and sprung up, attacking Yates. She fought for the bat, Yates struggling to get the woman off him. He jerked the bat, nailing her in the nose. Alex went tumbling back, falling back down to the floor.

Yates got up and started yelling in russian. The nurse walked in with a 44 magnum gun. Brayden’s heart sank. Yates took the gun and shooed the nurse away. He checked if it was loaded then cocked the gun. He lined the gun up with Alex’s forehead. Alex showed no fear, only courage which bothered Yates. Alex’s military general past kicked in, she showed no fear as she faced death in the eye. Brayden could only watch the scene, worry in his eyes. Yates chuckled before pulling the trigger, sending a bullet into Alex’s head. Killing her instantly. “NO!” Brayden yelled with a cry. His voice cracked, it was like the fragment of his very being was shattered into a million pieces. He just watched the death of not only the love of his life, but of his only child as well. He just stared at her corpse, unable to think. Dr. Yates laughed at Alex’s body before turning to Brayden. “You should have stayed in that room Mr. Fluxfeather. Would have been better for you.” Brayden’s whole body was limp, his mind not functioning. “Lucky for you, you didn’t kill my brother in the military” Yates said before he called for the nurse again and helped her drag Brayden out of the room.

Brayden sat in the very padded room that his wife stayed in, forced to forever live the haunting memory of the asylum. He stared at the wall everyday for months. He finally had enough and tore the wall with one of his earrings and tied a noose with the long piece of leathery fabric and placed it over his neck. He tightened the fabric and slowly suffocated to death. No one ever heard from the couple again and their house mysteriously burnt down the day Brayden left for Russia. The End.
