just once I didn't want to feel caged.
astrophe squeezes me to her bosom,
only the milk of her breast is the bitterness of how alone I am.

i'd stare at the stars with a deep green tint in my eyes.
jealous of the freedom,
just to me anywhere but here.
the land cries out, tinted ruby with blood.
the trees weep brown leaves in spring,
the air itself resists is.
the animals have become rabid,
the earth has become the cage.
somewhere beyond the stars is a new beginning.
the death of astrophe,
the birth of a new generation.
