꧁Chapter Two꧂

After history class, Paige walked down the hallway to get to the gym.

"Heeeey, Paige!"

She turned and saw Jairo hopping over with an ecstatic grin. The Evaran smiled, "hey, Jairo. What are you up to?"

"Nooothing," the Condorusian chirped, rocking back and forth on his feet. There was a loud clatter, followed by a shriek and half the students turned towards the noise, startled.

Romina came barreling out of one of the classrooms and Jairo started running. "Get back here, you blonde swan!" She yelled after him. Amused students watched them.

Paige rolled her eyes with a smile and she shook her head as she headed to the gym. The Dual-Blooded girl pushed the doors open and she saw a few students sparring on the mats, some using hand-to-hand combat or their magic. A few centaur teachers were standing on the sidelines, watching the students.

Paige sighed deeply and she walked over to the bleachers. She sat down and Enoch looked at her.

"I'm guessing you came to watch the sparring matches?" The Irilian asked. Paige shrugged, "you could say that."

She looked over at Marcellus and Constantine.

They were swinging and dodging each other's attacks. Constantine went for Marcellus's waist but the Dosyrian grabbed his arm and kicked his legs out from under him, shoving him to the floor as the Angelonian yelped in surprise and slight pain.

Marcellus pinned him down by pressing his knee into his back and Constantine wheezed.

"Kramer, pull it back!" One of the teachers called out. The Dosyrian grumbled before he got off of Constantine who pushed himself onto his hands and knees.

"I think I'm gonna bruise later," he grumbled. Marcellus rolled his eyes and he looked towards Paige.

She stared at him, her wolf ears flicking forward.

The Dosyrian raised an eyebrow before he turned and walked over to the other side of the gym. Paige let out a breath she realized she wasn't holding and Enoch gave her a curious look.

"What, did you think the two of you were going to be sparring?" He questioned.

"Kind of... yeah," Paige replied, rubbing the back of her neck. For as long as she could remember, she and Marcellus had been bitter rivals since the first day of school.

She had also remembered the close incoming fights the two would have. And what would the fights be about? Well, it would be about almost anything.

Marcellus picking on Ivan or Brenda or Eric, or the Dosyrian taunting Paige to the point where she would immediately try to jump him in the middle of the hallway.

She grumbled softly and Enoch giggled.

"Try not to let him get to you so much," he told her as he got up and stretched his arms, cracking his knuckles, "besides... I'm sure he's smart enough to not pull anything. Especially since he tends to promise to behave."

'That's because you two are dating.' Paige thought and she huffed softly in response and the Irilian walked over to Gaya. She smirked and she popped her gum.

"Ready?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

"You know I'm ready," Enoch chuckled before he charged at her.

Paige watched the two and she looked at her hands. She let out a deep sigh and she rubbed her face. She felt irritation prickle at her skin and she felt her magic swirling around in her chest.

That was how magic usually worked for someone who was so infinitely inhuman. Magic was made from emotions- physical, mental and emotional. And because of that, it made that person powerful in more ways than one.

She looked at her hands and she frowned. She lifted one of them up and white, blue and black magic flickered from the tips of her fingers. Her magic was different, to say the least. Her magic usually consisted of her Eldritch Chimera form.

"Is it possible for a Transcendant to have more than one or two magic powers?" She once asked, tilting her head as she sat in the principal's office on her first day of school. During her Blood Choosing, something else happened. The Universe had given her a Blessing. Something which the principal and the teachers viewed as a good thing and she wasn't the only one who had it. Gregory, Harry, Natalia, Demetrius, Charlotte, Marley, Shiloh, Kaitlin, Thomas, Joanna, Ivan, Brenda, Osiris, Eric and Anastasia had the Universe's Blessing too. But they didn't know what it meant. So according to Principal Chiron, it was for the best that they didn't know.

Chiron looked at her, "well, my dear... in some cases, yes and no. But as far as anyone knows, you are a special case. You are far more powerful than you know. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. And do not lose control."

She stared at him then nodded. He gave her a silver and blue bracelet that had little phases of the moon intricately carved into it.

"This is for you," he told her, "I implore you to wear it should you transform into your Eldritch Chimera form."

Paige looked at the bracelet and she sighed deeply. She wasn't the only one who had been given this bracelet. Gregory, Harry, Natalia and the others were given the same bracelet as Paige. She looked over at the door as students started filling the gymnasium, chatting. She swallowed as Eric, Brenda, Kaitlin, Gregory and Shiloh walked over to her.

"Hey," Eric greeted as he sat down. "Hey," the Dual-Blooded girl sighed. Kaitlin sent her a concerned look, "you okay?"

'No,' Paige wanted to say but she nodded her head as Gaya knocked Enoch down on the mat. The Irilian swung his tail and Gaya quickly did a backflip to dodge it. Enoch quickly got up and he tackled her in the air, making her yelp.

"Have you gotten a turn yet?" Gregory asked. "No," Paige answered.

Brenda and Shiloh exchanged worried glances. Enoch pinned Gaya down and he looked at her. She grumbled. The teacher, Lady Corice, clapped her hands.

"Very good, you two. You showed excellent restraint on your powers," she smiled, "and in record time too." She looked at her checkboard, "let's see... Paige Kendrick, you will be sparring against Leopold Welker."

Paige felt her heart stutter and she spared a glance at the Dual-Blooded boy who got up and walked down the stairs to the mat. Leopold was half Dolrionian and half Irilian.

"That doesn't seem fair," Arturo whispered to Dominique, "he's got more muscle." "Well... let's say that it may depend on who will win," the Lunzorixian shrugged.

"This is gonna be good," Maccabee smirked. Afton elbowed him in the side.

"We're waiting, Miss Kendrick," Lady Corice said, arching an eyebrow, "you can't stay on the sidelines forever."

Paige made a noise of protest as she forced herself to get up and she walked down the steps to the mat. Leopold looked at her and smirked, showing a little bit of his sharp teeth.

Paige swallowed nervously. Ever since her first day during gym class, she had been standing on the sidelines. It wasn't that she didn't want to participate but it was almost like she would have disadvantages. And those disadvantages consisted of being short and skinny.

'Curse my early birth,' she silently whined with a grimace. Lady Corice lifted her hand, white magic flowing around her palm and a glowing white ring formed around the mat. Leopold looked at it curiously.

"I'm sure you know the rules, but just to be clear, there will be no blood. No teeth, claws or weapons of any kind. You can only use your animal forms and if need be, your powers as well," Lady Corice explained in a stern voice, "if you fall out of the ring- or the mat- you lose. And if you're pinned or unable to move, you yield."

"Ready, princess?" Leopold asked, a purr in his voice. Paige grumbled in response.

"Ready... begin!" Lady Corice said. Leopold charged at Paige. She quickly unfolded her dragon wings and she leapt up into the air and over the Dolrionian's head. She landed on the other side of the mat and she spun around, firing her flames at him. Leopold dodged the flames as he ran at her and she yelped as he tackled her to the floor.

She growled and kicked him off. He growled softly in surprise before he disappeared into the shadows.

Paige looked around. Her ears twitched and she quickly jumped back to avoid Leopold as the Dolrionian leapt out of the shadowy void.

"For the thirteen year olds present, pay close attention," Lady Corice said, "Dolrionians, Whisperians and Shadarans may be opposite of each other but they possess almost the same power; shadow breath and umbrakinesis as a whole. When they dematerialize into shadows, they're unable to use their other senses. It doesn't matter if one is Dual-Blooded or not."

Leopold transformed into his dragon form and he leapt at Paige with a snarl. She froze, caught off guard, and she grunted as the boy tackled her hard. When she hit the floor, she wheezed and she looked up at him.

He smiled, "you yield?" "Screw you!" She snapped before she transformed and whacked the Dolrionian off of her with her tail. She couldn't use the magic of the Black Hole or the Accretion Disk... mostly because she didn't have it anymore.

When she first received the Blessing, she lost the ability to control the magic of the Black Hole and the Accretion Disk. She wouldn't admit it out loud- not around Marcellus anyway- but she kinda missed it.

The only downside to using that magic was the mind control. Paige snarled at Leopold and she rammed into him.

The Dolrionian grunted as he hit the ground hard. There was a loud slam right next to his head and he looked up at Paige who was in her dragoness form, standing over him, her teeth bared and her eyes glowing.

Leopold stared at her before he patted the mat twice. "I yield," he chuckled. Paige blinked in surprise before she moved away from him.

He sat up as the glowing ring disappeared. "See?" He chuckled, staring at the Evaran, "you've got skills that will give you advantages. Especially when you're skinny." He got up and brushed the dust off his clothes.

Paige frowned, "what were you trying to do anyway?" "Simply prove to you that you were wrong about yourself," the Dolrionian replied, "there is nothing wrong with who you are and how you act."

The bell rang and Leopold was the first to leave the gym.
