꧁Chapter One꧂
The sun was high in the sky, glowing brightly. In the mountains, there was a very large shadow that loomed over the trees below.
The object that was casting that shadow was a very, very large castle. It was gray and white. There were dark blue flags on the rooftops.
There were so many decorative lights on the walls and rooftops and they glowed and danced along the walls.
Inside, a nineteen year old girl was asleep in her bed. She nuzzled into her covers, purring softly. She had chestnut brown skin, black and brown hair and light brown eyes. There were three scars on her left cheek and a scar that went over her left eye.
"Paige, time to get up," a nineteen year old boy said, hands on his hips. He had pale ivory freckled skin, bright auburn hair with black and dark brown streaks and deep emerald green eyes. There was a small scar on his chin.
He was wearing a white and golden school uniform.
Paige grumbled and pulled the covers over her head. "Go away," she whined, "I wanna sleep more."
Harry raised an eyebrow before he grabbed the covers and yanked them off of her.
She yelped, "TOO COLD! Harry!"
"C'mon," he chuckled, "we've got to get to the cafeteria for breakfast. Everyone else is getting ready."
Paige grumbled as she got up, "fine, fine. I'm up." She grabbed the same white and golden uniform and got up. She stretched before she went to the bathroom that was on the other side of the room.
Like many of the students who resided in the castle, Paige had her own bedroom.
Her room was decorated with white wallpaper and glowing decorations of stars and moons and suns hung from the ceiling.
A desk was on the other side of the room, next to a closet and the bathroom.
There were stuffed animals strewn around the room, on the floor, the windowsill and the desk.
Paige took a quick shower and tied her hair into a bun before she walked out of the room and Harry smiled ay her.
"Ready now?" He asked. She playfully swatted at him before the two ran down the hallway.
"Haha! There's no way you'll beat the flight of stairs this time!" Harry exclaimed.
"It's only twelve steps!" She huffed before she transformed into her winged wolf form and she leapt forward. She flew over the staircase.
Harry laughed before he transformed into his dragon form and he flew after her. The two teens flew down to the bottom before they transformed back and hurried through the open doors of the cafeteria.
"Guys! Over here!" An eighteen year old girl called over. She had almond brown skin, light grey eyes, raven black hair with light gray strands. She had a scar on her left eye.
"Hey, guys," Harry chuckled. "Did Paige stay in bed again?" Another nineteen year old boy chuckled. He had light pale ivory skin, dusty brown and light orange-brown hair and deep ocean blue eyes. There was a scar over his right eye.
"Shut up, Greg," Paige chuckled as she sat beside him and Harry.
Natalia and Demetrius snickered.
"So what's on the agenda today?" Eric asked curiously. "Sir Drakeos says that there's a race," Thomas said, leaning back against the chair.
Ivan immediately perked up. "Uh-oh," Shiloh chuckled. The Irifloran gave him a glare, "what?"
"Remember the last time you were in one of those races? You cheated," Osiris huffed, "and Sir Drakeos gave you a week's detention for it."
"Well, I won't do it again!" Ivan exclaimed, blushing. "Riiiight," Demetrius drawled with a smirk.
"Paigey, I'm being bullied!" Ivan squeaked and the sixteen teenagers laughed. Paige ruffled his hair.
"At least there's other people racing besides the Xinians," Anastasia chuckled.
"Oh yeah," Thomas chuckled. The bell rang and everyone started leaving the cafeteria.
Paige walked over to her locker and she opened it. She saw a picture of herself and her parents. She smiled slightly and started rummaging through her locker to grab some books.
"Don't you think it's weird that the centaurs had lockers alphabetized?" Joanna asked curiously. "I mean... not really," Thomas shrugged, "kinda helps now that there's so many students here."
"Oh yeah," Demetrius chuckled, "and the classes are weird too." "Are not," Natalia huffed, "they're as normal as any other class."
"Oh come on," the Dolrionian frowned, crossing his arms, "history and gym are first. Math, science and art are always second. And it's like it was created that way on purpose. And besides, students rotate between them."
"I can't tell if you're following Montana and Hobie into hating that stuff," Gregory chuckled, looking amused. Demetrius rolled his eyes and Paige closed her locker.
"Well, which classes do you guys have today?" Ivan asked curiously, "I've got art and gym." "No surprise there," Joanna chuckled, "I've got science and math." "Same," Thomas and Osiris sighed. "I've got gym and history," Gregory chuckled, messing with his necklace.
"Same," Eric, Brenda, Kaitlin, Paige and Shiloh piped up. "I've got art and history," Harry smiled. Demetrius whined, tossing his head, "I've got art and history. No gym."
"Sucks to be you, man," Natalia chuckled. Demetrius glared at her, "well, what do you have, miss missy?"
"Art and history," the Dolvadian smiled. The Dolrionian grumbled, "well, at least I won't be alone." "I've got science and history," Shiloh chuckled, crossing his arms.
"Me, Anastasia and Marley have art and history," Charlotte chuckled. "Yay!" Marley said happily and everyone laughed.
"See you later," Paige said. "See ya, guys," Harry said with a wave. Gregory waved back as he, Brenda, Kaitlin, Shiloh and Paige walked to history class.
They walked into the classroom and Paige walked over to the desk by the window. She would usually sit in the back of the room. Mostly to avoid getting her name called.
Neriah sat in front of her and looked at her. "You hiding again?" She asked.
"Noooo...?" Paige replied and the Angelonian raised an eyebrow. The Evaran huffed, "I just think the teacher, Astenos, doesn't like me very much."
"What makes you say that?" Winona asked, tilting her head.
"Oh come on! He sometimes calls me to read out loud and he's always glancing at me with his eyes narrowed," Paige explained, "it's intimidating."
"You? Intimidated?" Fenrir asked and Paige blew a raspberry at the Dual-Blooded Transcendant. He laughed softly as the teacher, Astenos, came in.
He had ivory skin, brown hair and green eyes. He had a scruffy brown beard and his lower half was that of a golden Kiger mustang stallion.
He tapped his hoof against the tile floor. "Alright, settle down, children," he said.
'Children?' Fenrir thought with a 'seriously' expression on his face.
"I'm going to do roll-call then we'll get started with the history lessons," Astenos said. Paige straightened herself a little as she shifted in her seat.
She really hoped this class wouldn't last longer than it usually did.
