Chapter 1

I sat on the plush leather couch of my studio, munching on chicken wings that I may or may not have stolen from a hobo, don't blame me, he wasn't even eating these. I was intently staring at the blueprint of the biggest museum in New York that was scattered across my coffee table, held in place by a few paperweights that I had stolen from my neighbor a few years ago. Okay let me get something clear, why is New York always the place to be? Why not Chicago? Chicago is a ni...yeah okay no. Anyway, the blueprint was way too complicated but you don't have a degree in reading blueprints that you got off the internet for nothing. My hazel eyes scanned the dimensions of the building, my eyes quickly fixated on the little box that was on the topmost floor of the 6 story building.

"The useless shit floor" I whispered longingly to myself. Let me get something straight this museum is known for its beautiful, ancient and most importantly, EXPENSIVE jewels and you know what that means? Security and a higher risk of getting caught stealing these expensive little fuckers, I cannot have that. So instead, being the smart young lady that I am, I am going to steal the useless shit that nobody would ever think of using security for and pawn them. Simple. No unnecessary bullshit required. Yay.

Just at that moment, the door burst open, I whipped my head around to acknowledge the person who was currently disrupting my evil master plan. I rolled my eyes as soon as my eyes focused on the tall figure that was leaning on my door frame.

"Seriously Ares? Do you have to do that every single time?" My voice laced with poison. I do not want to have this conversation.

"Can't you just not be sarcastic or mean for one second, Astraea?" My overly annoying neighbor and rival, who, you guessed it! is a superhero, stood at the door with a cocky grin playing on his lips.

"Nope! Now get outta my sight, I have some shit to do" I was getting more and more annoyed by the second.

"God, you villains are always working so hard, why not become a superhero?" He asked curiously though it came across as more of a suggestion.

"Evil is always better, sweetie" I answered with a sassy tone to my voice.

"Anyway, I came to ask you if you want to grab some dinner?" I was taken aback by this question.

"Like a date?"

"Well...You see...my parents are coming and I may or may not have told them I have a girlfriend and I may or may not have blurted out your name" He chuckled awkwardly, his hand rubbing his neck while he leaned more into the door frame.

"You, Idiot box" I chuckled, my finger in my hair, carefully combing out the knots that had formed in my very curly hair, "I will do it on one condition" my big lips curl into the evilest smile I had, "you have to let me rob this museum" I pointed to the big blueprint.

He stared at me for a while with a blank face. We were in silence for what felt like hours...

"Okay"
