~Chapter One~

The sun was blazing and blisteringly hot. Any other dragon would have overheated or maybe even burned in this heat. But, of course, the Rainwings were having the time of their lives.

Aster watched as the others stretched their wings and lazily slept on the canopy above. One side of her wanted to go up there with them, soaking up the warm sun, sleeping off, not having a care in the world, but her dreams to be useful, help her kingdom, and assist at the Queen's side no matter what, kept her from following her lazy Rainwing instincts. She knew she wouldn't get anywhere by lazily sleeping out in the sun all day, no matter how much she wanted to. Still her Rainwing instincts pleaded to go up and join them, and she was so close to giving in when her friend Rose snapped her back into reality.

"Um-hello? Aster? Are you ok?" Rose asked as she waved a talon in her face.
Aster looked back at Rose and shook her head. "Oh-Sorry Rose, I got distracted." Rose shrugged and walked towards the Queen's royal pavilion, Aster followed after her.
"You know Queen Glory won't let you be her advisor if you keep blanking out like that," Rose said as her scales glinted in the sunlight, reflecting off a pale, pastel, red-ish pink. "Yeah, yeah, I know.." Aster began, "I just need to focus on getting that job, no matter what." She said with determination.
"Well, you better do your best since I'm pretty sure Alure is here for that job as well." She said as they lifted off to air to see Aster flying ahead.
Aster quickened her pace. She knew that when Alure had her mind set on something she would always get it, somehow.
She was always like that. Even as dragonets. When  they were teaching them about venom aim. Aster saw Alure study and practice every single day so that she could be perfect. They were only two years old at the time.
Aster and Rose landed at the Queen's royal pavilion. Rose patted her on the back and gave a faint 'Good luck!' as Aster entered the Royal Pavilion.

The Royal Pavilion is used for official business. It's out between the NightWing and RainWing villages because they wanted to show that they two are now equals. This vast platform is built up in the air, up on a circle of branches from tall, overlapping trees. It located about halfway between the forest floor and the treetops, and it has a roof made of peaceful translucent green leaves that sits on wooden columns, so that the pavilion is open to the air but sheltered from the rain which Aster always thought was a smart detail. Radiant purple and blue morning glories hang like bells from the vines that wind around each column. When she was a dragonet she used to wonder if they had glories because the Queen's name was Glory.

Aster had come in and was finishing up her speech for the Queen.

Now it was Aster's turn. Aster's talons scraped against the wood as she entered, it didn't look like she was the first dragon to do that. Two scroll racks stood on either side of a simple raised dais or "throne" that sat only a few inches higher than the rest of the platform. On top of it was the Queen.
She stood before Queen Glory. "Hello, my Queen. I would like to become your advisor, and hope to help you when our kingdom needs it most." She said in her best regal voice. Queen Glory nodded. "And how exactly will you do so?" Aster began the speech that Rose helped her memorize and fixed anything that could have sounded better, or in other words, she improved anything that needed it.
After about five or ten minutes later she finished off by saying, "And as your advisor, I promise to assist in any way possible." She bowed and sat over by Aster.
Queen Glory thought for a moment. "I will decide soon, I'll just go over there and talk with my other "advisor," She said as she walked over to King Deathbringer to the next room.
Aster seemed calm, and relaxed, while Aster's normally soft lavender magenta wings and body were swirling with excited golds and anxious greens.
After a while, a buzz started to whirl in Aster's ears, practically forcing her to start a conversation with Alure to break it. "So-um, I didn't get to hear much of your speech but, I thought it sounded pretty good," Aster said awkwardly. Allure wasn't always very social. She was never mean, Allure had seen her quiet and kind acts as a dragonet and even to today, but she never really talked much.
Allure didn't respond for a moment before saying, "Thank you, I thought you did exceptional on your speech as well." She stayed quiet, and so did Allure. It remained silent until Queen Glory and King Deathbringer came back.
She sat on her throne. "Come here," She said. They both walked toward her simultaneously, except when Allure reached Queen Glory she bowed and said, "Whether assistant advisor or main, I shall always stay by your side, my Queen." While Aster just bowed, without anything to say.
"Thank you Allure," She said before she straightened up and was about to say who will be the main advisor and who will be the assistant advisor. "Before I tell you, I just want to say that I'm proud that you both have proven not to succumb to the stereotype of being lazy and useless RainWings. I can tell that both of you are hard-working and I personally want to thank you for that. Having that said, the Advisor will be.."
Our anticipation raised as she paused before saying who got the job.

"Allure"

Authors note: I don't like this chapter with almost every part of my non-existent soul. I think some parts are okay, but honestly I wish I could do better in the part where she meets Queen Glory. Im trying to make it better but I'm just trying to get by so please just ignore the awkwardness of how I write and focus on the plot points.
