4: Wistful Search

Maki stared at Himiko before she responded. "Once we recuperate," she began, "We need to determine how exactly we will strike back at Team Danganronpa."

Himiko's jaw dropped. "Do you think that is possible? They have the world's support after all."

"Not exactly," Shuichi argued, "Remember how they reacted near the end of the..." he trailed off as Himiko lowered her head.

It appeared that she thought on it for a moment. "Fine," she concurred, "I'll do it. What do we do?"

"First things first," Maki replied, "We need information. It's important to know your target and understand their strengths and weaknesses."

"Huh," Shuichi replied, "Spoken like a true assassin."

Maki was silent at first, and Shuichi frowned.

"Do you want to die?" she asked him satirically.

He let out a nervous chuckle. "I was wondering if you'd ever say that phrase ever again."

The red-haired mage then jumped in a repeated fashion as to draw attention. "So what are we waiting for? Let's ask around!"

"Wait Himiko," Maki began, "Make sure to be subtle, we still don't know who to trust after all."

"Yeah yeah," Himiko reassured the ravenette, "I'll be as subtle as a magician."

But before Maki could make Himiko promise that, the red-haired mage waved at them as she ran off in the opposite direction that they had come from.

"Well," Shuichi sighed, "Guess we can split up. See you back at the house Maki." he waved Maki off and began to walk in a different direction.

The first half hour was rather fruitless, as everyone he had asked had either told him that they knew nothing, or they had asked him "What was Team Danganronpa?"

Shuichi knew that there was nothing that they can learn about from the townsfolk.

After a few hours, he began to have a feeling, and not the good kind.

He was being followed. He wasn't sure as to who it was, but he knew that he needed to be careful.

But he shook it off, dismissing it as him still being cautious from their recent escape from Team Danganronpa.

He continued to go around the village, even though he knew that there was no point.

After a while he had stopped in the middle of the road. "I really should head back to the others." He sighed heavily.

He began to walk back towards the way he came, disappointment visible on his face.

The only thing that stuck out to him was that feeling of someone watching him.

But he couldn't react well enough as he was grabbed from behind by the collar of his shirt as he was pulled back into a dark building, and a rag shoved into his face.

Shuichi struggled to breathe properly as he felt his consciousness beginning to fade.

And as his world faded to black, he swore that he saw someone that he recognized.
