My Captain (Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes x Reader)

You looked at your adoptive brother in the eyes. Carefully deducing his next move.

"Y/N, its checkers. Why of all things are you so heated about checkers?" your brother, Bucky, asks suspiciously.

"Because if it means beating you, I'll take my chances." You say, smirking.

"You won't beat me." he insists.

"Really? Checkmate!" You claim,

"Wrong game, N/N." Bucky tsked, shaking his head and jumping a few of your players.

"Oops. That's chess, ain't it?"

Bucky nods, laughing at your defeat. You only huff in slight frustration and pack the game away, starting with the red and black game pieces.

"Y/N? You've been in here?" your boyfriend, Steve, asks, walking in the room. You two had been dating for almost a year, but had kept it private from mostly everyone, with the exception of Natasha, of course, which you told all your secrets to her. Not even Wanda knew, a sister figure to you.

You certainly had to keep it from Bucky. Though he was adopted, he was still your very overprotective brother.

Bucky had brother-adopted you quite a while ago. The two of you had a bond going before the both of you left Hydra together.

You had knowledge from before you were captured on who Bucky was, so he relied on you to help him regain memory.

Steve had been so appreciative, and he started to become more than just a friend. Bucky was so overprotective, however, he had a hard time believing that anyone could love his little sister like he did.

"Yes, I've been here for quite a while, little Stevie." you announce, smiling at him.

"I'm like, a foot and a half taller than you, N/N," he points out, "Nice try though."

"I just beat her ass in Checkers. She thought we were playing Chess."

You wrinkle your nose and squeeze your eyes, giving Bucky a dirty look. "I'm still better,"

Bucky gives you a weird look and sighs, shaking his head. "She's your problem now. I'm going to the gym." he states.

"Alright." Steve smiles lightly. You stand up, taking the box for the game with you and putting it on a shelf Tony had that basically served as a board game collection. "We still on for Star Wars tonight?"

"Of course." You say, smiling at him brightly. You had shown Steve all of them but "Return of the Jedi" and the newest ones, so far "Empire Strikes Back" was his favourite, and you'd only watched that a week ago.

You had told him multiple times to start from "A New Hope" since that was technically the first one made, but he insisted to start with the newer trilogy that was made after "Return of the Jedi" was.

You stretch your arms out and yawn, "But first- I need a nap."

"You just woke up three hours ago." he grumbles, "I just got back from the gym. Can't you keep yourself awake enough to spend time with me?"

He wraps his arms around your chest, making you blush. "I- yeah... Yeah, I can."

"We've been dating for a year and I still know how to make you blush," Steve says, smiling and letting you go. "You'd think that'd ware away."

"Pff, I didn't blush. You're going blind." You scoff, "Besides, even if I did... I didn't!"

"You're so stubborn." he sighs, leaning down and kissing you. It was true - even though you've been dating so long, Steve knew exactly how to make you blush.

"I left for five minutes. Why do you have your hands all over my sister, Rogers?"

You both jump back at the voice, turning your head to meet Bucky. A very unpleased Bucky.

"There'd better be a damn good reason."

"I've been dating her in secret for a year!" Steve says, flinching as Bucky walked closer.

"A year? Y/N why didn't you tell me?" he said, his voiced lined with hurt. You didn't know how to respond, only look at your older brother in shock as he looked at you in betrayal. "We were supposed to tell each other everything, and you couldn't tell me how you were dating my best friend?"

"I was scared, I didn't know how you would react!" You said, your eyes slowly starting to tear up. "I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt you."

"Does anybody else know?"

You shook your head, so did Steve. "Only Natasha, who caught us just ad you did." Steve answers.

"We were going to tell you, just, when the time was right."

"Why wasn't it right in the past year?" he asked, slightly perturbed by your defence. Though he softened when he remembered the events himself. "I overreacted, I'm sorry. I should be supporting of you guys."

"It's okay, Buck. This isn't how you wanted to find us, and this definitely isn't how we wanted you to find out," Steve says, "you have a right to be protective of Y/N as well."

"And don't think for a second I'm just going to drop you if Steve needs something that urgently. He can wait like, ten minutes, then I'll go help him." You say, laughing slightly, trying to lighten the mood with every joke you knew would work.

"Well, in that case, I can't say you guys haven't exactly been my favourite pairing. I've always kind of... What did you say it was called?"

"Shipped?"

"That! I've always sort if shipped you guys together." Bucky admits, "You guys are both so awkward and weird."

You laugh at his attempt to lighten the mood himself, and he's succeeded, and made your day.

"Have you watched Star Wars?" Steve asks

"Sam, Clint and Natasha have both violently made me watch the first two."

"Violently?"

"Natasha pulled her guns on me, Clint was ready to ambush me." Bucky says, "I need to watch the first three they made after the movies, and the continuations."

"We're watching the third one tonight, to make it up to you I think the least we can do is let him in on our movie night, right Y/N?"

"Totally. Just no being one of those annoying third wheels," you say, "This is still technically our date night."

"Fair enough."

"Please don't ask what I think you're going to." You plead, knowing Bucky too well.

"You've not gone passed kissing, right?"

"Oh my god, no, Bucky, I'm only 24! Why would we do anything remotely like that!"

"I'm just being careful." he smirks, "But if you lay a hand on her without consent-"

"I promise I would never." Steve says, his face a light pink from Bucky's previous question.

"You're not that clean, Rogers." Bucky says, walking backwards to the elevator to return to the gym, "I know you enlisted four times- faking your registration on health concerns."

"Wait, what?" You ask, whipping your head from looking at Bucky to looking at Steve.

"He's not innocent from crime!" Bucky yells as the elevator doors close.

You only look at your boyfriend in confusion, "Is that true?"

"I forget. Really long time ago. The forties were like, seventy five years ago, I don't remember anything!"

"Bullshit." You laugh, "I don't really care, anyways. Doesn't affect me."

He smiles at you brightly, and kisses your lips. Your face still manages to light up a bright pink, "I do, though."

"Shut up, Rogers."
