The night was quieter than I expected it to be. Half way through the night R woke me up for night watch.

Now I'm still in my tree, scouting the area. R had just woken up about two minutes ago and was now stretching.

I got to the ground using the Katshea technique. R whipped his head up to me and murmured, "She's always better at climbing trees."

I looked at him before grabbing my bow and then my quiver, "I'm going hunting." I whispered the three words before seeming to vanish. R didn't notice, we were always doing this because it was such a fun thing to do.

I placed my bow in my left hand and with my right hand there to pull the string back, I went into a crouch position. I was only 35 meters away from the campsite when I heard the bush in front of me make some movement and noise. Grabbing an arrow I placed it on the bow and pulled the string back ready all the way back to greet my nose.

I didn't move but I slowed my breathing right down. In a few seconds a small rabbit hopped out of the bushes. It didn't stand a chance. It looked at me and I shot it in-between its eyes. I pulled the arrow out of the rabbit and held it in my right hand while holding the rabbit's ears in my left.

I walked back to the campsite, feeling that my catch would do us enough for a small fulfilling meal.

"Oi, take this!" I said throwing the rabbit to R he glanced at me before making a shriek noise as the rabbit hit him right in the face. I couldn't control the left side of my mouth as it curled up into a smirk.

"I can see that smirk you know, it is just the same as when we were—"R couldn't finish the statement as I shot an arrow in-between his crossed legs.

He looked up at me alarmed, I gave him a stupid, silly smile "(Shut up) tuhs Pu!"

"What the hell was that for?" R complained getting up and pulling the arrow out of the ground, causing the rabbit to slump onto the ground.

I crossed my arms, "You really want to get into it? You think you can talk about our past? No you can't!" I spat the statement.

R gripped the arrow and looked at it before staring at me with a smirk "I'm keeping this arrow you know?"

I ignored him and began to cut the rabbit to put it into the pot which was now boiling.

10 minutes later we had pretty much finished our food, and I was sitting on the ground up against a tree and R was doing a similar thing.

I started thinking about Rananei and I. The way we act is as if we've hated each other since we were little kids. I shook my head and scolded myself, 'Stop having such deep thoughts'

"What's wrong with you?" R asked curiosity, I snapped my head over to him. I looked at him. "I was thinking how ugly and bad it is to work with you"

R smirked at me, putting his bowl on the ground. "You were always bad at insults"

I looked at him sideways, Oh he's going to get it now'

"Your face is a pig's butt" I said putting my bowl down to and crossing my arms.

Rananei stood up and slightly walked closer to me, "Your duck's nuts"

I looked at him and smiled smugly, "Your face is"

"Your face is a buffalo's butt" R said as we both stood closer as the argument grew fiercer.

"Your face is so ugly, that everyone else becomes ugly when they look at you" I said, we kept getting walking closer towards each other.

"You should get a new face, yours is getting uglier" R smirked as the insults kept coming.

"Your face looks like you let a horse run over it" I said, smiling sassily.

I didn't even realise it, we were 3½ from each other's faces.

It was Rananei's turn to insult me but instead of insulting me, he did something completely strange. "Your eyes are so pretty!" I completely snapped out of my "trance".

"What?!?!" I yelled stepping 3 metres away from R, he looked down at the ground. Reddening to the state of a bright red cherry.

"I-I- I didn't mean it, your eyes are ugly!" Cherry, tried to cover his mistake.

I started packing up all my stuff, and put it onto Aazen, I mounted Aazen and then R did the same and got on Aniie.

I shook my head at him, "The moments over, Cherry"

"Cherry, Cherry!" I said smirking at my new found nickname R.

"Do not call me that!" R commanded me, I looked at him.

"Why not? Cherry"

"Why did our fathers put us together? I mean I thought Ruffian loved you. If he did why would he put you with someone who you hate & someone who hates you?" R sneered.

I looked at him, infuriated boiling up inside me. "You're right about one thing, I do hate you" I speed Aazen up to get away from him.  The scary fact being that I was thinking that.

'I mean, he loved me. But....why would he do this to me! He must have a reason1...'

"Yeah, that he doesn't love you" A voice in my head told me.

"No shut up!" I yelled back at my sub-conscience 

I was now really angry at myself, R & life, I stopped Aazen in the middle of the "Dirt path", I grabbed an arrow out of my quiver and shot a tree 50 yards in front of me.

"Someone's cranky at nature" R said walking up to where Aazen was standing.

I grabbed a dagger from my back and pointed at him, R looked at me.

"I will cut you up!" my hand stayed still as I threatened, R put his right hand up defensively.

"Do you want to bash it out?"

I put the dagger away, "No I'll just bash you up in my mind."

I continued going along, we arrived at a small pond, life flourishing and shining around it. We hadn't been traveling for very long, but I stopped anyway telling R I had to get away from him and his ugly face.

Telling Aazen to stay where she was, I walked about away from the pool. My bow in my right hand.

After walking 5 minutes I stopped and stood still, in knee length green grass with trees that were 50 metres high, they looked old. And breathed in taking in the sounds of the forest.

The wind in the trees, the animals communicating with each other. Small blue, yellow, green and red birds sang chirpy songs. I could hear in the distance the sound of a waterfall; which meant it must be large.

This is what I loved, being in places like this. That's when my brain brought back memories;

'We were running in the forest, near the monastery. Most of the trees were green but a few were yellow/red.

Rananei and I ran through the forest,

I was chasing him. He came to a sudden stop, he bent over having his hands on his knees. He looked the opposite way to me.

Taking the advantage that presented itself to me. I ran over to him and hug-tackled him. We both tumbled to the ground with a thud. Several metres away from a large boulder.

"Ebony!" Rananei whinnied making me laugh.

Rananei climbed up onto the large boulder, he rolled onto his back then he leaned on his arms. I came over to him and copied what he did,

"Ebony, I love you! Your like my sister" Rananei told me, trying to turn around to face me.

"I love you too!" I said smiling at him, "Will we always be friends?"

Rananei shook his head at me, "Of course silly, you're my best friend. Nothing can happen to us"

I quickly gave Rananei a hug.

Rananei and I went stopped talking enjoying the moment, peaceful, wanted silence became later. Letting us hear the much loved sounds off the forest and forest animals.'

I shook my head to get myself out of the flashback. A few warm tears I flew sped out of my eyes and down my face.

I wiped the tears away from my face with my sleeves. I started thinking about the day and wither R remembered it. It was a hot, sunny clear day.

R and I were 9 we had just escaped the main group of our classmates.

I sat down in the grass, and stared into space. We were meant to stay friends. After a few minutes I breathed in deeply, I stood up and put my emotionless face.

Aazen whinnied happily as she saw me, R was sitting on a rock throwing a rock.

"Let's go" he said, were his eyes puffy? I shook my head and got on Aazen.

"We need to head through the forest, so I wouldn't get on Aazen" Aniie whinnied as R led her.

"Fine whatever" I muttered easily standing off Aazen.

We went West of the somewhat path we were on. The silence was back, I thought to do what Angolio was doing.

Feeling completely weird I asked up the courage, "I'm sure you're missing Mandasia, I mean you are romantically involved"

R looked at me straight in my eye then looked away, "We weren't involved"

"Oh I thought you were. She did kiss you that one time"

R replied as he walked over a log, "Once when we were like 14. Now let me ask you and Angolio?"

My eyes enlarged, Angolio and me no! "No, we weren't like that"

I walked over the log, shook his head and looked at me "Well he did, he used to look at you when you weren't looking"

"Why were you watching me?!" I asked seriously.

Cherry returned, but he tried to cover it "T--to see what insults I could come up with"

"If you say so cherry" I smirked on the inside.

R scowled at me, moving faster through the grass.

I patted Aazen, not noticing that R had stopped I ran into the back of Aniie.

I groaned, "What are you doing?"

"There's two paths, left or right?" R looked at me.

"Left, look it is less dense" I said directing Aazen that way. R glanced at me, "I bet a rabbit dinner that it's the right way, if I win you catch and cook me a dinner and vice versa. The other eats dry meat.

"Your on1" I said R nodded and we headed in the two directions.

5 minutes in I heard a deep shriek of alarm, Rananei it had to be. Why did I say Rananei? Never mind, I want that rabbit dinner. He was probably stuck in a bush.

I turned Aazen around, and headed back and went the direction R went in. I left Aazen next to Aniie who wasn't standing still she was restless. 

Then I understood why I saw R hanging upside down by his feet his sword falling in his right arm.

"What happened? How did you get caught in this? And they thought you were the top of the class" I asked him as I got closer, he looked at me his eyes wide.

"Firstly, shut up and secondly I tried cutting myself down but this rope is even thicker than ours and our rope is very strong"

"What if I try shooting it?" I said drawing an arrow and placing the bow in my left hand.

"It will probably not work, maybe you should come closer to me and check around for the source" R told me crossing his hands over, I shrugged my shoulder and began investigating around R.

By the look of our R's feet the trapper used a very simple but clever trap to get most likely animals in the trap.

I then saw a tree which seemed connected to the trap which Rananei was held by. I stepped close to the tree only to be sprung up, upside down in a same way R was.

"Great job, Idiot" R told me and I shook my head at him, I tried to swing but it was no use. The rope wouldn't budge and it was halfway up leg,

"Maybe you should try swinging too" I said as I began to move back forth ever so slightly.

"If you had just come my way this wouldn't have happened, gosh you're an idiotic" I scowled at R as I said this.

"You're an idiot" he replied back, our swinging was not going well.

The bickering went on until we heard a sound of laughter, the next thing we heard was a thud as we saw a girl who looked around our age, with golden blonde/brown hair. She fell to the ground, continuing to laugh as we, looked at each-other, still mad.

She stood up and smirked, "Hello"

A/N; so this is the next chapter, what do you guys think? Please tell me in the comments, on what was very good. And what I could improve on.

And yes, I know the end is really bad but I wrote it, and wrote it again.

And who is this girl? Please don't hurt me for the cliff-hanger. ;) :)
