(To avoid some confusion, Tsurugi is the surname of the brothers but Kyousuke is mostly referred as the surname "Tsurugi' while his brother will go by Yuuichi.)

Tsurugi went to the doctor's office before heading to a hospital room. On the board beside the door is the name 'Tsurugi Yuuichi', presumably his brother's room. He stood in front of the door before knocking, it didn't take long for a response to arrive.

"Come in," A voice from the other side was heard.

Tsurugi then places his hand on the handle before opening the door. He then entered and saw his brother.

"Nii-san," Tsurugi said.

"Kyousuke," his brother replied with a smile and Tsurugi smiled in response.

He then helped his brother get on the wheelchair and they went to the rooftop. They viewed the town from there and felt the cool breeze.

"I'm glad you come visit me everyday these days, but what about training?" Yuuichi asked.

"It's fine," Tsurugi replied.

"Really?" my brother asked as he smirked a little.

"I said its fine," Tsurugi responds as he slightly smiled.

"Okay," Yuuichi said and then looked at the view.

"How is it with the team?" Yuuichi added.

"Well... We've been working hard and I'm getting along with them," Tsurugi replied with a smile.

"You're a full fledge member of the team now," Yuucihi said with a smile. "You should still be very careful when it comes to missions though, after all, the enemies get tougher."

Tsurugi looked at him and nodded in response. But when he saw his brother's legs, it always reminded him of something.. Of THAT day.

Tsurugi then looked back at the view and had a flashback on the past.

*Flashback*

Tsurugi was just seven years old while Yuuichi was twelve. The two were playing around in their room where Tsurugi was pretending to be a knight while Yuuichi is an evil wizard.

"It's over dark knight, I will use my ultimate move, Thousand Arrows!" Yuuichi said while acting and using the soft toy balls as projectiles.

"Oh yeah, take this, Dark Burst!" Tsurugi shouts and charges with his toy sword in hand.

The brothers then both play fight till Tsurugi defeats Yuuichi.

"Oh no! I've been, defeated! You win this one, dark knight.. Eh," Yuuichi said dramatically and lays on the ground pretending to be dead.

"Really nii-san?" Tsurugi said as he approached him and pokes Yuuichi a bit.

Although Yuuichi suddenly took him by surprise by grabbing Tsurugi and dragging him down but was caught by his brother.

"I got you now Kyousuke!" Yuuichi said as he hugged his little brother while laughing a bit.

"No fair nii-san!" Tsurugi said and then laughs a bit.

The two brothers then continued playing. While drawing, Yuuichi suddenly hears something. Tsurugi notices and stops what he was doing as he looked at his brother with a confused look.

"Nii-san, what's wrong?" Tsurugi asked.

"It's nothing don't worry, I'll be right back Kyousuke," Yuuichi said as he looked and gave a bit of a smile.

Yuuichi gets up and leaves the room. He then quietly goes downstairs without being noticed and from a certain angle, he sees his step father talking to some people.

"You got yourselves a deal, I'll go call them," the step dad said and Yuuichi had a terrible feeling about this.

The man then starts approaching the stairs and Yuuichi sneakily heads back. He enters the room and Tsurugi was confused.

"What happened nii-san?" Tsurugi asked as he got up and ran to him.

Yuuichi fell silent a bit before saying, "Our step father was talking with some people, I don't know what they are here for."

Suddenly the door opens and they see the step father.

"Yuuichi, Kyousuke, I need you downstairs now," he said.

"H-hai, understood father," Yuuichi replied and there was no way to escape.

The two went downstairs with the step father following from behind. They then went to the group of unknown people. Suddenly the step father pushes the two to the group.

"Here they are, you may take them," the man said coldly shocking the two brothers.

"F-father, what is going on?" Yuuichi asked but then he and Tsurugi were both grabbed by the strangers.

"We made a deal with him and he sold you two to us," One of the strangers said.

The two were in shock and disbelief.

"B-but what about mom, she wouldn't agree to this?!" Tsurugi shouted as he struggled in their grip.

"Oh, but she did. She can tell you herself although, right now she is at work. We talked it out through phone call," the step father said coldly and then smirked, "Enjoy your new places, brats."

With that, the two were knocked out using a cloth soaked in chloroform. The next thing was that the two were taken away somewhere hidden and it was later revealed that the strangers were secretly Shadow Clan members, not even the step father knew. The two siblings were then forced to go through training to make them into soldiers. Despite all the harshness and cruelty, they stayed by each other's side. Tsurugi though, grew a strong hatred towards the 'parents' and to Shadow Clan.

Five years had passed when suddenly, the entire place was on fire and Tsurugi and Yuuichi-san were following Kudou and Otonashi who came to rescue them. They were trying to escape the hideout run by a group of Shadow Clan members. While they were running, a guy was on the ground and was still conscious, he then saw the four and gritted his teeth.

"I won't let any of you escape," he said in his mind. He then grabbed a laser gun and stood up, he then aimed above the four.

He fired and rocks started to fall. Yuuichi saw the rocks falling while the two adults already passed the rocks and also saw it, they ran to help them but they couldn't make it in time to grab the teens.

"Kyousuke!" Yuuichi called out while Tsurugi saw the rocks.

But Yuuichi pushed Tsurugi out of the way, causing the rocks to fall onto Yuuichi instead. Smoke was covering the view, but when it cleared, Tsurugi's eyes widened with shock and fear. The lower part of Yuuichi was cover by rocks and there was some blood, he was also unconscious. Yuuichi's legs were crushed and Kudou and Otonashi tried to free Yuuichi by trying to lift the rocks. But with Tsurugi, he felt a sudden anger, a sense of revenge. A strong hatred towards the shadow clan member.

"Why you," Tsurugi muttered and clenched his hand into a fist, "You will pay for hurting my brother!" Tsurugi shouted in pure hatred.

Tsurugi found a sword on the ground and quickly picked it up. He stood up and charged at the guy who fired the gun without hesitation. The two adults tried to stop him in fear of him getting hurt but Tsurugi was already ahead of them. The man tried to shoot Tsurugi with the laser gun, but Tsurugi just dodged everything with ease. When Tsurugi was close, he swung his sword and since the man didn't have a chance to dodge cause he was to injured, he was slashed down by him. Blood splattered and the man falls onto the ground before turning to ashes. Kudou and Otonashi's eyes widened with shock. Tsurugi was huffing, before dropping the sword and falling backwards while slowly losing consciousness, fortunately Otonashi manages to catch him in time. Otonashi then looks at Kudou and saw that Yuuichi was freed by him. Tsurugi caught a glimpse of his brother and could only worry about him.

Kudou then looks back at Otonashi and said, "Let's bring them back."

Otonashi nodded in agreement and that was the last thing he heard and saw before everything went dark.

When they returned back to base, they put Tsurugi and Yuuichi in the doctors' office. Minutes later, Tsurugi woke up and sits up. He looked at his surroundings and realized he is in what seemed like a hospital room. Then he heard the door open, making him turn to look and see Kudou and Otonashi came in.

"I see your awake, how do you feel?" Kudou asked.

"I'm fine, I guess" Tsurugi replied and then he realized something.

"Where is my brother?" Tsurugi asked feeling worried about his brother.

Kudou and Otonashi-sensei shared a look and then looked at Tsurugi.

"Well the good news is, he is gonna be alright," Otonashi-sensei said, "But the bad news is, his legs are broken and he won't be able to walk until he gets surgery. Currently he is getting it but even after that, he will still need to be bedridden."

Tsurugi's eyes widened with shock and then he clenched his hand into a fist. He lowered his head as his bangs covered his eyes.

"Curse those damn shadow clan members, it's their fault things had to end up like this!" Tsurugi internally cursed in his thoughts.

The two felt bad for him and then recalled something a bit.

"I'd like to ask you something, do you remember what you did after what happened to your brother?" Kudou asked making Tsurugi face him.

"What do you-" Tsurugi was about to ask when the memory popped up in his mind.

Tsurugi was shocked at what he did, he remembered he killed the Shadow clan member and fainted. Although, he felt somewhat, satisfied, for what he did.

"Do you have a family to go to?" Otonashi-sensei asked in worry.

Tsurugi lowered his head and he looks away.

"They're the reason why me and my brother ended up in that hellish place. I don't want to have anything to do with them," Tsurugi replied as his blood boiled.

"I.. I'm sorry to hear that..." Otonashi's eyes softened with empathy as she lowers her head a bit.

Silence fills the room for a while as Otonashi looked at Tsurugi worriedly before turning to Kudou, wondering what to do now. As for Kudou himself, his expression even if it was hard to read most of the time, he felt bad for Tsurugi, his eyes softened a bit. Suddenly, the blue haired boy spoke.

"Sir, ma'am, I have a request I'd like to make..."

This catches the two adults' attention, as they looked at him.

"I want to join you.."

Otonashi was surprised at the sudden request, as for Kudou, he keep a straight face.

"If you join, you'll become an assassin and help in fighting Shadow Clan. Are you sure you want to pursue this path?" Kudou asked

"Yes, I'm certain sir.." Tsurugi responds, fire in his eyes filled with resolve.

Kudou stays silent for a bit before responding.

"Very well," Kudou spoke as he closed his eyes before opening then, "After your recovery, you will have a week to train for the exam. Good luck, Tsurugi Kyousuke."

"Hai," Tsurugi replied.

In the end, he passed the exam and is now a member of Raimon. Yuuichi on the other hand got surgery but he still needed to be hospitalized before he could walk.

*End of Flashback*

"Are you still upset by that?" Yuuichi asked.

Tsurugi didn't reply as he looked away a bit.

"You know that wasn't your fault," Yuuichi said as he gave a warm reassuring smile.

Tsurugi turns around to face his brother and said, "Nii-san."

"You should continue to move forward and fight for what's right. Continue to grow strong with the team to take down Shadow Clan, and put an end to their schemes. So that no one will suffer just as we did," Yuuichi said as he gave a bit of a smile. "Once I've fully recovered, I'll fight alongside you on the field. Till then, keep working hard and take care of yourself okay?"

Tsurugi was silent for short while before he replied, "Hai."

After a few hours of chatting, it was time for training. Tsurugi brought his brother back to his room, before saying goodbye and heading to his dorm to change to his assassins uniform. He then went to the training area and met up with his friends. Tenma noticed his arrival and greeted him, along with Cole and Shinsuke.

"Tsurugi, you came in time," Tenma smiled calmly.

"Yo Tsurugi!" Cole said with a smile, catching the attention of Shindou and Blaze who were chatting.

"We were just about to come get you," Shinsuke added.

"Hey guys," Tsurugi said.

"How is your brother doing?" Tenma asked.

"He is fine, he is recovering very well," Tsurugi replied.

"I'm glad," Tenma was relieved to hear that Yuuichi was going alright.

"Wishing your brother a speedy recovery," Shinsuke said with a smile as Cole nods.

"It's a good thing that Yuuichi-senpai is doing well," Shindou said, joining in on the conversation along with Blaze by his side.

"Hey Shindou-senpai, Blaze-senpai," Tenma greeted him with his casual smile.

"Sup guys. Also Tsurugi, wanna spar with me in training today?" Blaze said and grinned.

Tsurugi smirked and said, "Sure, why not."

"And why not me?" Cole said with a bit of a raised eyebrow.

"You've had your turn multiple times already Cole. And I won most of those battles." Blaze responded with a bit of an eyeroll and teasing smirk.

Cole pretends to gasp a bit and look offended, "No you didn't, I'm pretty sure I won most of them."

"Sure, whatever you say to make you feel better buddy," Blaze responded, keeping his slight teasing tone.

"I can spar with you instead if you'd like Cole," Shinsuke spoke.

"Sure thing, thanks dude," Cole replied, his usual smile quickly coming back as if nothing happened and puts his hand up for a fist bump.

"No problem!" Shinsuke smiled as he and Cole did a small fist bump.

"That was fast," Tenma sweatdrops slightly before looking at Shindou, "Shall we train together then captain?"

"I don't mind, Kirino is sparring with Kariya at the moment," Shindou said, meanwhile in the background, Kirino was chasing Kariya with his scythe as the other boy was swinging around in their training zone's terrain with his strings from his gloves and back on his uniform.

"Well then, see you guys later," Tenma said to the others before parting to different training zones.

"Later everyone!" Shinsuke waved as he and Cole headed to their training zone to spar.

Tsurugi and Blaze also went into position and prepare their training equipment. The horn was sounded and the battle has begun. Tsurugi charged at Blaze and while Blaze aimed his training pyro or flamethrower gloves at Tsurugi (It just releases hologram fire that feels real). Blaze fired and fire came out. Tsurugi runs all around Blaze and dodges the fire. Smoke then covered the view, blocking his sight. Blaze looked around trying to spot Tsurugi, but to no avail. Then Tsurugi jumped from behind and tried to slash Blaze, but he turned around and bent his back backwards, making Tsurugi's sword miss and causing Tsurugi to go over Blaze. Tsurugi landed back onto the ground and face Blaze. His gloves were aiming at Tsurugi, but Tsurugi back up making the fire not being able to reach Tsurugi. The smoke was already gone and then Tsurugi had an idea. Tsurugi puts his sword back and then directly charged at Blaze. When Blaze was about to fire, Tsurugi immediately did a slide tackle and hit Blaze's leg, causing Blaze to fall forward. Tsurugi then uppercuts Blaze, causing Blaze to fall back. Tsurugi immediately stands back up, draws out his sword again and points it at Blaze.

"Checkmate," Tsurugi said.

Blaze then smirks and said, "I guess you win, good work Tsurugi."

Tsurugi lends Blaze a hand and Blaze gets back up. Tsurugi then puts his sword back in the case.

"Your brother would be very proud of how much you improved," Blaze said.

"I guess so, thanks," Tsurugi said with a smile.

"No problem dude," Blaze said and grinned.

The rest of the day was the same as usual and everyone had a good time.
