Chapter Twenty Four: The Baseball Game.

The Baseball Game.

Soon, the loud bell rang, signalling for school to be over. As soon as it rang, the boys began to run through the woods for the baseball game. After five minutes of them leaving, the girls were all outside, still in their gym kits, sighing.

"We're finally done." Suiko said.

"Hey, should we go watch the boys and cheer for them?" Aina asked.

"Sounds like a good idea to me." Megu said. The girls then ran through the woods, except Saika, who just stood there. She put her hand on her arm and looked down. Yukiko stopped running and looked at Saika.

"Saika-Chan?" Yukiko questioned.

"I have... Things to do..." Saika said. Yukiko blinked twice before nodding.

"Ok. See you later." She said as she ran after the rest of the girls. Saika sighed.

"Why would people want to play a horrid sport that only injures you?" Saika asked.

"It's not all painful." Saika jumped and flinched back as Korosensei stood beside her.

"Where did you come from?! You scared the life out of me!" Saika exclaimed.

"Ah, sorry!" Korosensei said. Saika sighed.

"Shouldn't you be with the boys?" She asked.

"I think you need me more than they do." Korosensei said.

"Why would I need an octopus?" Saika asked.

"To teach you a lesson." Korosensei said. Saika just looked away from him. "Not every experience is good, like not every experience is bad. You experienced something, which has made you believe that everything that relates to baseball is bad." Korosensei explained.

"Because it is..." Saika said.

"But it's not. Baseball isn't all bad Sumi-Chan. Baseball is a sport, that many people enjoy, because they have fun while playing it. Yes. Baseball is a dangerous sport, but it is only dangerous if one person makes it so." Korosensei explained. Saika's grip on her arm tightened. "The only way of conquering your fear Sumi-San, is to face it. I thought it would be easy for the eldest child of the Sumi family." Korosensei said. Saika's eyes went wide as she looked at him.

"How did you know that?" She gasped.

"You resemble the picture the elder of the Sumi family." Korosensei explained. Saika sighed. "You should go and cheer for them. I know that it would help them." Korosensei said as he walked away.

"How... How will me being there help them?" She asked. Korosensei stopped.

"Sugino has seemed to have created a bond with you in this past week. I'm sure your cheering would help him feel more confident." Korosensei said before leaving through the woods, leaving Saika stood there in silence.

...

"Alright guys, now look alive. Class A has all members of the baseball team on their team, so, they're pretty good." Ayato explained.

"Right. We can do this." Yuma said.

"Right!" The rest said. On the team, there was Ayato, Akito, Tomohito, Yuma, Hiroto, Hideo, Haku, Ai, Karma, Masayoshi and Nagisa. They were batting first. Ayato was introduced as he picked up a bat. As he stood in front of the pitcher, the girls from E class and R class cheered, until they heard some screams from girls from other classes.

"It's Ayato-Sama!" Some cried.

"Sama?" Hinano questioned. Yuzuru giggled.

"A-a l-lot of the girls h-h-have a crush o-on Ayato-Kun." Yuzuru explained. The pitcher served a fast pitch at Ayato, who hit it into the field. He then ran to first base before the ball was back. The ball then hit first base and the girls cheered. Akito was up next. He sighed.

"I'm so going to lose this." He said.

"Come on Akito! You can do this!" The girls cheered. The pitcher served. Akito sighed as he bunted before running to the first post as Ayato ran to the second one.

"Nice one Akito!" Ayato shouted.

"So lame. Can't believe I bunted..." Akito sighed. All the baseball players on the other team nodded. Ai came up next. He got ready to swing as the pitched threw the ball, but suddenly, the ball went fast and it was about to hit Ai in the face. Ai's eyes went wide as he stepped back the catcher caught it. The boys eyes went wide as the pitcher smirked.

"What was that?" Rio gasped.

"Hey! Play fairly! You almost hit him!" Katsu shouted.

"You trying to kill him or something?!" Akashi shouted. Ai looked at the pitcher, who caught the ball, which the catcher threw to him.

"They're going to play rough so we lose." Ai thought. He then frowned. "You can try, but you won't succeed." He then thought as a shadow formed over his eyes.

"Akito. Get ready." Ayato said.

"Yeah. I see it." Akito said. The pitcher threw the ball once again and once again, it was about to hit Ai in the face, but Ai quickly went back and hit it. Everyone's eyes went wide as Ai hit the ball. As he did, everything went in slow motion as the pitcher made eye contact with him.

"I might not be an athlete, and I might not be as smart as A class, but, I'm not stupid enough to fall for something twice." Ai said. He then dropped the bat and began to run. Ayato had just made it past the third post, scoring a point, and not much longer after him, Akito went past, scoring another point. Ai was running past the second post when the ball was throw to the player on the third post.  Ai then slid across the dirt and went past the post, just as the player caught the ball.

"In!"

"Yes!" The girls cheered.

1 hour later...

Although R-Class and E-Class were up for a good start, they weren't doing so great now. They were on their third part of the game. They were batting again. The score in total were 4-8. They were losing by 4 points.

"Damn it. We need to get higher than them. They're making this the final part." Ayato said.

"I can go first and scare them if you want." Hiedo said. The boys all sweat dropped.

"C'mon man. You're not that scary." Haku said.

"We need to get a home run. Nagisa and Yuma are the only ones at a base each." Akito said.

"Batting next, Haku Tenshi." Haku sighed as he picked up a bat.

"Good luck man." Akito said. Haku got ready to bat. The pitcher served and Haku hit it, but it didn't go far.

"Nice hit!" The girls shouted. Haku began to run towards the first base, but then the player at first base caught the ball.

"Batter out."

"Crap." Haku thought with a sigh before walking to a bench.

Meanwhile...

Saika was sat in the classroom. She sighed as she thought about hers and Korosensei's conversation.

"Sugino has seemed to have created a bond with you in this past week. I'm sure your cheering would help him feel more confident."

"This is stupid." She said with a sigh. She then got up and walked out of the classroom. She then walked out of the building and walked to the woods. She climbed to the top of a tree and could see the school. She looked at the baseball field and saw everyone. She couldn't see them clearly. She sighed once again before climbing down. Once she got to the ground, she ran through the woods.

Back to the others...

Next was Hiroto. As he tried to hit the ball, it went straight past him every time to the point he was out.

"What the hell?!" He exclaimed.

"Batter out." Hiroto then sighed as he went to sit next to Haku. Next was Tomohito. He got ready to hit the ball. He missed it.

"Come on Tomohito! You can do it!" Class E shouted.

"You can do it Sugino-Kun!" Class R shouted. Sugino got ready to hit it again, but once again, missed.

"What's wrong with me? I can't hit it..." He thought. "I need to get a home run. Concentrate." He thought.

"Go on Tomohito! You can do it!" Someone shouted. Tomohito's eyes went wide. He looked towards a fence and saw Saika at the fence, panting.

"Saika..." He gasped.

"Sai-Chan. You came." Yuzuru gasped. Tomohito looked bat at the pitcher with determination in his eyes.

"Ah, I see, Saika Sumi has caught your eye. Heh. Good luck trying to impress her newbie." The pitcher grinned. He then served a really fast pitch. Just before it went past him, Tomohito hit the ball. Everyone's eyes went wide. It then went out of the field.

"It's out of the field!" The announcer gasped.

"Yeah!" The boys shouted. Tomohito began to run. Yuma then passed third base as Nagisa passed second base and Tomohito ran past first base.

"How? How did he hit it?" The pitcher asked. Tomohito ran past the second base and Nagisa ran past third. "That was my best serve. There's no way he could have hit that." Tomohito then ran past third base.

"Yeah! 7 points! We just need to get two more to be in the lead!" Ayato said.

"Woo! Wait a go Sugino!" Akito said.

"I thought you would have gone home by now Sai-Chan." Aina said. Saika shook her head.

"The alien said something to me. He made me think. Should I stay and support everyone and face my fear, or run away and never face my fear." Saika explained with a closed eye smile. The others smiled.

"Yeah! Don't ever let your fears get to you!" Rei said.

"Such an inspiration!" Akio cried.

"You're seriously crying?!" Yuudai exclaimed as he flinched back.

"Huh? Ama? What's wrong?" Kirara said. Amaya was frowning as she looked at the game.

"Those boys are too over confident. The baseball team never grin like that." She said.

"So what?" Ryoma asked.

"So he's here." Amaya said.

"Who?" Taisei asked.

"Really? Does that mean I can finally beat up that brat?" Akihito asked with a crazy look in his eyes as he cracked his knuckles.

"Who?" Sumire asked.

"The principle of your school." Amaya said. She clinched her fists.

"You know him?" Sumire asked.

"This is the twin school of yours." Aria said.

"Aria." Sumire said.

"So that's why the pitcher has been serving violent pitches. He's brain washed them." Jasmine said. Karma was up next. He had a slight evil grin on his face.

"Urm, sir, what did you tell him?" Nagisa asked. Korosensei had his head sticking up out of the ground.

"Nothing~!" Korosensei said. The pitcher served.

"Is that the best you've got?" Karma asked as he hit the ball. Somehow, he manages to hit it towards the pitcher. The pitcher quickly ducked and Karma ran to the first base.

"The hell?!" The pitcher exclaimed. Saika looked at the field. She then gulped before walking towards the gate. She walked through the gate and to the boys.

"Huh? Saika?" Ai questioned.

"Why are you here?" Akito asked.

"I have an idea. You don't have long left of this game." Saika said.

"We're all ears." Hiedo said.

...

After around 8 minutes, they scored 1 extra point from Karma passing the last base. So far Masayoshi and Ayato were at bases. Hiedo took Akito's turn and got the bat.

"You can do this Hiedo! You don't have long left!" Saika shouted. Hiedo nodded. He looked at the pitcher, who jumped a little.

"No you..." He said. Hiedo got ready to bat. The pitcher gulped as he got ready to serve, but all of a sudden, Hiedo's eyes looked like they were glowing more than usual. The pitcher stopped as he stepped back.

"Come on man! Pitch! We have less than 2 minutes left!" A player on the field shouted.

"His eyes. He's some sort of freak! He's a monster!" The pitcher thought. He threw the ball, which went past Hiedo. Hiedo didn't move. He was determined to hit the ball. Once again, the pitcher served, but the ball went past Hiedo once again. "This is it!"  The pitcher served the ball once again, but this time, Hiedo hit it to the end of the field. The pitcher's eyes went wide as he fell to his knees.

"Yes!" Everyone cheered. Masayoshi passed the third base in no time and then soon after him, Ayato passed the third base. Hiedo got to the second base as the fielders had finally gotten to the ball. The ball was thrown to the player on third base just as Hiedo slid past him.

"In!" Just then, a bell rang, signalling that the game was over.

"Yes!" The boys cheered. The A class and baseball team boys fell to the ground in defeat as the E-Class and R-Class students cheered. Saika jumped up and down.

"Yes! Yes!" She cheered.

"So much for hating baseball huh?" Tomohito asked with a chuckle. Saika froze with a blush on her cheeks.

"Hey! Shut up!" She shouted and Tomohito laughed. The boys behind him laughed as well as Saika turned her back to them with a blush.

"Wait ago Sai-Chan!" Suiko shouted as she ran to Saika and jumped on her.

"Eke!" Saika squeaked as she fell to the ground.

"Great job guys!" Hinano said.

"You actually won!" Yuudai grinned.

"I thought you were going to lose for a minute then." Akio said with a sigh.

"You're so emotional today Akio." Rei said with an awkward laugh.

"That was a close game." Megu said.

"Mhm." Toka said with a nod.

"Can't believe I was the only one who bunted." Akito said as he sulked in a corner.

"Come on man. Sulking is no cool!" Taiga said.

"Well done children." Korosensei said. "And well done Saika. You overcame your fear." Korosensei said. Saika and Suiko sat up. Saika then scratched the back of her head as she looked away with a blush.

"Pfft. Tomato again." Jasmine smirked.

"You wanna start Greece monkey?!" Saika exclaimed.

"What you call me Ice Queen?!" Jasmine exclaimed.

"Now, now. That's enough." Yuzuru said.

"Huh? Where's Akita?" Ai asked.

"Oh, she went home early. Something about having something important to do." Rio explained.

"It's a shame she couldn't watch the game. She loves to rub victory in A Class's faces." Katsu said.

"Oh well. She'll hear about it and do it tomorrow." Aina smiled.

"Well done kids." Karasuma said as she approached the students with the other teachers.

"You were watching?" Hiedo asked.

"Yes. Well done using your talent, but next time, try to hold back on using that Hiedo." Erina said. Hiedo nodded.

"Hai Sensei. Gomen." Hiedo said.

"Great job on winning though." Irina smiled.

"Yes. You did well considering most of the players in A Class are part of the baseball team." Tristan said.

"Anyway, you kids better get home. It's getting kind of late." Karasuma said.
