35|"Everything Seems Okay..."

"What?" Lydia questions Stiles quietly. Stiles opens his tired eyes a little more.

"I don't want to die as your friend or even your boyfriend, if I'm gonna die, it's going to be as your husband, so Lydia Martin, marry me?" Stiles says weakly. Lydia takes it in, all of it. She feels the presence of her friends around her. She notices the pressure of Stiles hand against hers. She is tickled by the tears sliding down her cheeks. Her hand slides from the bump where their child is to her heart where there is an unconditional love for a pale boy with countless smiles and reckless and messy hair and everything so imperfectly wonderful and without a single doubt or second thought the word leaves her mouth.

"Yes."

The group can't hold back their smiles. There is a moment of laughter and quiet clapping and then silence. "Well thank god for that or else this would be very awkward," Stiles says, his old wits back. Everyone breaks out into a relieving laughter. Lydia, with a smile on her face and tears in her eyes, leaned over and plants a long kiss on Stiles' lips. She pulls away to find him smiling up at her weakly. "If it wasn't already obvious, I'm quitting, I'm sorry Derek I just I..." Stiles passes out again from the pain medication and stress of his day. Derek nods slowly, looking at the floor and biting his bottom lip.

A few feet away, Cora looks over at her brother. "Derek, we all quit," Cora says regretfully. Derek quickly stares at Cora.

"All of you?" He asks. Derek never once thought that Cora would leave the business.

Cora nods slowly, holding back tears. "All of us." It takes a few seconds, but eventually Derek manages to smile slightly.

"If that's what makes you all happy, then go right ahead, I'm still your brother and your friend, always." The young adults all nod at Derek, sad smiles playing on their face. Allison is the first to go up and hug Derek.

"Love you big guy, thanks for everything." Everything goes silent again. Isaac starts to tap his foot.

"So... are we gonna talk about this baby thing?" Isaac comments awkwardly. Lydia drops her head and laughs slightly.

"Yea about that," Lydia starts scratching the back of her head. "Well it's a girl, and I am roughly six months along, and her name is Allison Claudia Stilinski," Lydia finishes, looking directly at Allison. Allison's mouth forms a little '0' in shock of what she just learned.

"Allison?" The young Argent questions. Lydia bites her bottom lip and nods her head slowly.

"Stiles suggested it first," Lydia mentions. Allison fumbles with her fingers and tears form in her eyes.

"You're naming her Allison," Ali repeats her voice coming out as a weak croak. Lydia nods again, faster this time.

"Yeah, yeah we are." Allison begins to shake and then jogs to Lydia and squishes her in a tight hug. Allison starts to cry lightly into Lydia's shoulder.

"Thank you Lyds, thank you," Allison says to her best friend. Lydia starts crying again as well and pulls her friend in tighter.

"I'm sorry I left without telling you, I was just so afraid that someone would find out and try to make me get rid-"

"Don't be sorry Lyds I understand, you don't ever have to apologize to me."

Everything seems okay, for awhile.

"I know you can do this Stiles, just lean on me ok?" It's about two weeks after Stiles almost died on that infirmary bed. He has been there ever since trying everyday to stand and walk. after about a week he was able to stand with minimal help from Lydia or one of their friends. Now two weeks later Stiles stands with his legs shaking his left arm slung over Scott's  shoulder. His face is contorted in pain. Stiles stares at his feet as if willing them to move. He used to be the fastest assassin of all time, now he couldn't even walk.

Lydia watches from a few feet away surrounded by their other friends. She watches with a sad grimace on her face, wanting so badly for Stiles to be ok. It is truly tragic to see him like this. Stiles has always been known for his speed both with running and other motor functions. Now to see him like this is hard to bare. His walking is worse than expected because after Stiles regained consciousness he described a tingly feeling in his back and legs. Some debris was lodged into his back, including glass and other miscellaneous items. Luckily it didn't hit anything to important or he could have been permanently paralyzed. The debris hit small areas of his spine which negatively affected the nerves connecting to Stiles legs, making him shake. It's something he can outgrow with practice, but it may take awhile.

Stiles grunts and takes a step toward Lydia. Lydia heart soars, tears pudding in her eyes. Stiles starts to cry out of aggravation. Scott still holds onto his best friends elbow, wanting Stiles' to move without help, but still to afraid to let go. Stiles glances up at Lydia for a split second, thinking of his child in her belly. He wants to walk for his little girl, more than anything. He struggles, but takes another weak step towards Lydia, Scott now letting go of his arm. Lydia holds her breath, hoping he can make it. Quickly, Stiles takes another step, wobbling all over the place as he does so. One step after another is is two steps away from Lydia, who is shaking. Stiles, with one last burst of effort takes two quickly half assed steps and falls into Lydia's arms. She catches his swiftly, smiling bigger than anyone in the room. Stiles wraps his arms around her neck. She laughs in relief. "You did it baby, you did it, you can rest now."

In a blur Lydia leads Stiles back to his infirmary cot and watches as his eyes close. Soon she rejoins the rest of her times who were there to support Stiles in his walking journey. Cora and Isaac go downstairs to get some food while Allison and Scott stay with Lydia in the infirmary. "That is huge progress Lyds, he will be back to normal in no time," Scott says smiling, patting Lydia's back. Lydia sighs with a half smile.

"It really is, but I really want him to get out of the institute, all these younger kids going on missions is just a lot to watch, especially considering our situation, but I can't go back to the cottage I was at, I am to afraid for it to just be him and I, I could go into early labor or anything and he can't even walk and I-"

"Lydia, don't worry about any of that, come stay with Scott and I, Scott already has a room for Stiles,"Allison cuts in. Tears rise in Lydia's eyes again, she blames the hormones. Stiles scoffs from the bed.

"I don't wanna live with those scruffy hooligans," Stiles jokes. They all laugh at him. He never even opened his eyes to crack the joke. He is much to exhausted. Isaac and Cora return with snacks in their hands and food in their mouths.

"What's so funny?" Cora asks. Lydia looks at her and smiles.

"Nothing, Stiles and I are just going to live with Scott and Ali until he is all healed and the baby comes," Lydia explains. Cora finishes chewing slowly, nodding her head at a snails pace.

"it will be weird not having you guys here, but Isaac and I have to stay, for Derek," Cora confesses sadly. Allison rubs Cora's back.

"Well you are of course always welcome, besides we aren't far by any means," Allison comforts Cora. And its true, they aren't far, separated only by an hour. And everything works out for awhile.
