29|"I Need To Sit."

The large windows in the loft cause a ring of sunlight to be cast around her silhouette. The sun rays turn her red hair into curls of fire. Her green eyes watch Stiles timidly, anticipating his next move. A white flowing dress is draped over her pale shoulders, stretching just below her knees. If she had wings, she would be an angel. "Hi Stiles."

Stiles holds his breath, his entire body going into shock. Finally, Stiles lets out the breath he was holding and takes a step forward. "Lydia." Lydia smiles nervously. "It's been three months," Stiles states. Lydia bites her lip, hoping he does not get to mad at her. "I was starting to think you were never coming back." Lydia holds back tears as Stiles speaks slowly. "And now that you're here, I don't even know what to say," Stiles states. Lydia goes to say something, but is interrupted. "I don't know what to say except, I fucking love you," Stiles exclaims, tears surfacing in his eyes. He runs to her and pulls her into a hug. Lydia is happy to be held by the love of her life, but there is no way he can miss the giant bump carrying their baby.

"I love you too Stiles, but we need to talk," Lydia says before he can become to happy. Stiles pulls away slowly, his gaze pointed down.

"Lydia..." Stiles trails off. Lydia bites her bottom lip, knowing what he is going to say. Stiles tries desperately to put the words together. She was gone three months. "Are you..." Lydia squeezes her eyes shut for a moment, tears forming as she awaits his yelling. She begins nodding before he can even finish his question.

"Six months along," Lydia tells him nervously. Stiles rubs a hand down his face and through his hair.

"We..." Stiles is incapable of forming the words.

"It's yours, I haven't been with anyone else, no one even knows I'm here besides you and Allison," Lydia explains willingly. "You don't have to be there, you don't have to want it, you don't have to be involved at all, but I'm keeping it," Lydia says bravely. Stiles puts the pieces together in his head. Six months ago, Stiles sighs in pleasure and warns Lydia. "I'd move to the bed Firecacker," he suggests in a deep and breathy voice. Stiles pressures her back slowly. Her back falls comfortably back onto the bed. She pulls him down on top of her. They made love and a few weeks later she had gotten nervous about something, Lydia holds her breath and walks slowly away from Stiles. She stumbles back a bit.

"How long has it been since you did it last?" She asks

"A few weeks," Stiles claims. A thought pops into Lydia's head. A thought that doesn't have much to do with Stiles addiction, but more with the time span. Lydia sprints out of the room. "Lyds!" Stiles yells to her back. He stands up and starts running to the door. The day after that, she started ignoring him and upon making up they talked about trust, she follows suit and gazes into his eyes dreamingly. He stares back at her emerald eyes in a daze, never wanting to turn away. "You know you can tell me anything right?" Stiles asks. Lydia gulps and thinks about the child slowly growing inside of her. Nodding, she replies, "yes." Stiles smiles. There were moments after that when Stiles had noticed her acting weird, Stiles smiles at the sight of Lydia and opens his arms to hug her. She smiles nervously and hugs her Stiles. As they hug, Lydia sucks in her belly as much as possible. Stiles notices her tense form. "You good firecracker?" Stiles asks, his eyebrows knit together in worry. Lydia pulls away from the hug and nods with a fake smile playing in her lips. Stiles nods his head and kisses the top of Lydia's own head. Then she left, for three months. All these events total up to six months. She is telling the truth. That baby is yours, Stiles tells himself, stressed. Taking a deep breath Stiles finally looks at Lydia's face. She is clearly worried.

"Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?" Stiles asks, his voice hoarse. Lydia shakes her head and starts to shiver. "Do you mind if we sit down? I just, I need... I need to sit," Stiles asks. Lydia nods her head and they move quietly to the couch. Stiles shakes as he sits, trying his best not to panic. "This is why you ran?"

"It's illegal to be pregnant before thirty as an assassin, so I ran and I quit, I couldn't tell anyone, we would both get in trouble and they would make me abort the baby, they had already tried once to make me abort the baby, when Mr. Calavera took me while you all were being beat, but I threw up the abortion." Stiles nods his head slowly, recalling that day.

"So no one else knows?" Stiles asks hesitantly. Lydia nods.

"Just you, me, and Derek."

"Allison?" Lydia shakes her head.

"I called her last night, told her I was going to be in the loft at five thirty and to send you up, I didn't tell her anything, she was very good about it," Lydia smiles to herself, recalling the conversation with her best friend. A thought dawns upon Stiles.

"Where are you going after this?" Stiles asks hesitantly. Lydia sighs.

"I can't stay, and I'd rather you not tell Cora and Isaac I was here, I'm going to have to leave," Lydia tells him dismally. Stiles starts to cry silently.

"What about me?" Stiles croaks out. Lydia starts to cry softly as well.

"That's completely up to you," She tells him lovingly. Stiles caresses Lydia's small check, his hand wiping away her tears. She relaxes, melting into his touch.

"Lydia I love you more than I've ever loved anyone in my entire life, and I want to stay with you more than anything, but I saw what you leaving did to our friends, to me. I don't want them to have to go through that if I leave too," Stiles says disdainfully. Lydia nods slowly, completely understanding. "But I'll visit as much as possible, and when the baby is born, what then?" Stiles asks. Lydia grabs Stiles' hand.

"I have no one to watch it, I'll have to raise it away from all this, from our friends, it doesn't have anyone besides me and you," Lydia states the bitter truth. Stiles shakes his head.

"We are not all this baby has. It has a perfectly willing grandfather who would love to take care of it when needed." Lydia smiles at Stiles, tears making her eyes shimmer.

"I've missed you so much Stiles, you have no idea," Lydia exclaims. Stiles smiles back at her lovingly.

"I think I'm familiar with the feeling, at first I thought somebody took you or you were dead, then you sent that text and my hope was restored, now here you are," Stiles praises. Lydia stares into his golden eyes as he stares back at her big, green, doe eyes. The two of them lean in slowly, closing their eyes. For the first time in months, Stiles and Lydia kiss, and it's a miracle sparks do not fly. Stiles runs his hand through her hair, trying to re explore Lydia before she has to leave again. Upon pulling apart Lydia sighs.

"I hate to ruin this because god damn I miss it, but I have to ask... a few months ago you went off on Derek about how you never wanted to be a father, now that you know you are going to be a dad, how do you really feel about it? The brutal truth, that's what I want." Stiles listens to Lydia regretfully. Inhaling deeply before he answers, Stiles debates his answer, and finally comes up with the truth.

"Lydia Martin, I've been in love with you since you walked into the institute as a sixteen year old girl, soaked in rainwater, holding on desperately to you best friends hand. I never in a million years expected you to let me in. I never thought we could be together, because that's not what you wanted. Then we finally came together and it was one of the best nights of my life. I didn't think my life could get any better. Now I've learned that I am going to be a dad to the luckiest kid in the world because this baby is going to have you as a mother. In regards of my feelings about being a dad, I didn't want to be one because I am horrified because I don't know how to be a good dad and I don't want to screw it up. But Lydia, we made a life, a kid, together, and as much as I am utterly terrified, I'm also beyond excited to see what becomes of this little person that we made," Stiles explains. At this point Lydia is almost sobbing out of relief. Stiles smiles even wider, widening his eyes as if he has just realized something. "Lydia you're going to be a mom, and I'm going to be a dad." Realization hits Stiles. A few minutes ago in Stiles' mind, Lydia was pregnant with his child. Now, reality hits and Stiles knows he is going to have a baby, then a toddler, and a teen, and he is going to watch them get married and have kids of their own and Stiles has never been more excited. "I'm gonna be a dad Lydia!" Stiles shouts a little louder, standing up, pulling Lydia up with him. Stiles looks at Lydia with huge happy eyes. "Lydia I'm gonna be a daddy!" Stiles exclaims. Lydia smiles hugely and throws her arms around Stiles's neck. He wraps his arms around her waist. "Oh my god, I'm going to have the cutest kid! The whole world is going to be jealous because our baby is going to be cuter than theirs!" Stiles goes on. Lydia laughs at her boyfriend.

"Alright there bud, don't let your head get to big." Stiles pulls away from the hug and drops to his knees in front of Lydia's belly. Lydia giggles, "I thought you hated cliches?" Stiles looks up at Lydia.

"I'm a dad now, I get to be cheesy, now shush, in trying to have a conversation, and it's one sided, my favorite kind," Stiles jokes. Lydia chuckles to herself and looks down at Stiles as he brings himself closer to her bump.

"Oh Stiles," Lydia cuts in. Stiles looks up at Lydia with mock annoyance.

"Yes my love who keeps rudely interrupting me?" Stiles jokes.

"It's a girl, I didn't want to tell you till I knew you were committed," Lydia admits. Stiles smiles hugely.

"A baby girl... she is going to be so cute, now shh!" Stiles mumbles. He looks at the floor as he talks quietly. "Hi my little strawberry, I'm sorry we haven't met yet, your mommy was being so good and protecting you. But I want to formally introduce myself, I'm your daddy. I'm madly in love with your mom and I am never going to let anyone hurt either of you. You have so many people that would I want to meet you, I don't know if that's going to happen, but I just thought you should know. You have three uncles, Derek, Isaac, and Scott, and two aunts, Allison and Cora. They keep your mommy and daddy sane, so don't spit up on them when you come out here okay?" Lydia giggles at Stiles. Stiles glances up at Lydia quickly with a smile before continuing to talk. "Your grandpa is going to love you, we don't like your other grandparents though, they weren't very nice to your mommy, but that doesn't matter anymore because she has you. You are so special, I can't wait to really meet you little strawberry," Stiles finishes, looking up at Lydia with eyes full of cheer. He stands up slowly, never taking his eyes off of Lydia.

"Cora and Isaac are probably going to come up here soon," she says sadly, "and they can't know, maybe in time, but not now," Lydia finishes. Stiles nods slowly. "I'll text you my address, I have a small cottage, come whenever, I'm always home," Lydia tells Stiles, who nods yet again. Footsteps can be heard from the bottom of the stairs to the loft. Stiles' heart drops.

"I'll see you soon, you have to go, I love you," Stiles tells Lydia. They share one last goodbye kiss before Lydia rushes to the window and climbs out, slowly climbing down the vines. Stiles watches her go with a longing look in his eyes.

Just as Lydia disappears into the forest, Cora and Isaac enter the loft. Stiles smiles at them, already missing Lydia. Cora raises her eyebrows at Stiles. "What was Allison's present?" Stiles smirks.

"Just my favorite chocolate bar, that's all."
