Thirteen

Yoongi was sitting behind his desk, looking at the round and shiny item in his hand. He was amazed by the power it held as he thought back to the insecurity it caused between the couple trapped in the apartment a few floors above.

He couldn't believe that The Apple was finally in his hands, controlling it as he wished without anyone questioning him or taking it away from him. He has been looking for it for the past few years only to find out it was being kept safe by his enemies. That information had the blond male rethink his whole strategy. He acted safe and tried to retrieve it without drawing attention to himself. Instead, he pushed his students into the enemy's arms without a second thought.

There were three consecutive knocks on the door that pulled him out of his thoughts and he quickly hid The Apple in the top drawer of his desk, locking it with the key he always keeps on himself before ushering the guest inside.

'Please, excuse my intrusion, Master, but I'm concerned about Jeongguk.' Jimin came into the room, closing the door behind him silently.

'What do you mean?' Yoongi asked, standing from his desk to walk the short distance to the large mirror hung by his desk.

'Well, you told me to let you know if Jeongguk would start behaving oddly and today he did. Very oddly, if I may say.' Jimin watched the Master nod slowly as a sign for him to continue the explanation. 'He didn't come to his morning workout in the gym like he usually does. And he's spending more and more time with that Taehyung guy.' The younger frowned in thought. 'Master, I think something is going on between them.'

'I know, Jimin. Jeongguk is slipping to the dark side and we have to get him back on track before it gets too late.' Yoongi approached the younger who stood frozen on the spot. 'I appreciate you coming to tell me your worries. That shows that your heart is with the Order.' The older gave him a faint smile accompanied by a nod as Jimin bowed respectfully before he waited for further instructions. 'In fact, you are gonna be assigned to supervise the couple in any way you can without being suspicious. Understood?' Yoongi ordered, moving to get to his desk once again to sort through the files scattered on his messy desk.

'Yes, Master.' Jimin bowed again, heading to the door when Yoongi called his name again.

'Jimin. When you see Jeongguk, tell him to drop by my office.' Jimin nodded and left the room.

The lovers were busy watching tv, curled up in each other's arms after they had lunch; Jeongguk pampering Taehyung the whole time as a way of saying sorry for being an ass and for making you cry for nothing. And Taehyung couldn't be happier to have Jeongguk's full attention on him the whole time as he stood there resting his head on the younger's shoulder, nose brushing against the other's neck from time to time when he'd plant a soft and lingering kiss on the skin there, reveling in the way Jeongguk shudders every time.

The movie they were watching was quite boring so they casually ended up lazily making out on the couch with the romantic background music the tv speakers were playing to set the mood right. Taehyung's hand managed to sneak underneath Jeongguk's white tee-shirt, caressing the defined muscles of his abs as the younger's breath hitched, tensing under the warm touch of the blond's fingertips.

The hand around Taehyung's middle tightened, bringing him impossibly closer to Jeongguk as the kiss turned more heated, making Taehyung moan when the young assassin sucked on his tongue a little harder. The blond man's hand underneath his boyfriend's shirt making its way up to the younger's nipples, giving them the attention they need to make Jeongguk needy again.

It wasn't their fault they couldn't keep their hands off of each other. What would you expect if they were both painfully handsome and single or - in this case - together? They couldn't get enough of each other and it was such a blessing and a curse at the same time because they couldn't possibly keep going on like this, fucking each other like rabbits.

But (un)fortunately, there was a knock on the door that got them freezing on their spots because who could possibly be knocking on the door of the apartment where Jeongguk was staying at? Something wasn't right and Jeongguk couldn't help the strange feeling, making his heart pump the blood into his veins a lot faster as he gently nudged Taehyung off him, motioning for him to be quiet with a finger pressed against his lips.

He tiptoed his way to the front door, looking through the peephole and the irritation that spread through his system made him open the door with a huff.

'You have to be fucking kidding me. What are you doing here?' He eyed the man up and down, waiting for an answer as the other just stood there, smiling widely.

'Hello, Jeonggukie.' The brunet male chirped, wanting to get past Jeongguk and inside the apartment but Jeongguk put a hand on his chest, pushing him back.

'Why are you here, Jimin?' The younger asked a little annoyed that his novice interrupted the pleasurable make out session with his secret boyfriend.

'Aren't you gonna let me inside?' Jimin pouted jokingly before he broke into a fit of giggles as he said, 'Is your boyfy there too shy in front of other people?' He laughed and the angry look on Jeongguk's face made him shut up immediately.

'What did you just say?' Jeongguk took a step towards the older and Jimin visibly flinched as he took a step backward, in sync with the other as he raised his hands in defense.

'It was just a joke, Jeongguk. I'm sorry.' Jimin bowed at his superior, keeping a straight face.

'What are you doing here?' He asked again, crossing his arms over his chest as he leaned against the door frame.

'You didn't show up for our workout routine and I got worried.' Jimin confessed, partially. He was worried about Jeongguk but for a different reason. He was ordered to stop the banned relationship before something bad would happen.

'A text message would've sufficed. You know you're not supposed to show up like this when another assassin is in the middle of a mission. I could've killed you.' Jeongguk warned.

'I'll keep that in mind.' Jimin gave a faint smile before he asked, 'Did you interrogate the prisoner, yet?' He was surprised to see the younger's face scrunch up at the term he used to refer to his boyfriend but he tried to look as nonchalant as possible.

'Yes, not that is any of your business.' Jeongguk cocked a brow at Jimin's sudden interest in his mission. 'You know that's classified.'

'Right. I'm sorry. Actually, I'm here because Master Yoongi wants to see you.' The older informed, watching as the other's face softened, looking slightly scared because the Master never calls for an assassin who is in the middle of his mission if nothing's wrong and that scared Jeongguk.

Could he have guessed about him and Taehyung? If so, what gave him away? He was starting to get terrified by the request, being it as insignificant as it may have sound.

'Alright.' He cleared his throat, coughing nervously. 'I will be down as soon as I can.' He nodded before he closed the door of the small apartment and looked back at Taehyung who was waiting patiently for his hero as well as a little scared on the couch.

Jimin left without further annoying his superior and made his way down to the Master's office to report the situation. Which was not good. He knew it was bad whatever Jeongguk was trying to do but he didn't have the authority to reproach to the younger anything when he was just a poor novice.

He was also curious to know what pushed the younger into breaking the tenants he followed by heart for the last few years, as he was told by others who knew Jeongguk ever since he was little. He had the reputation as the most loyal assassin in the whole Order, yet he cracked so easily when a pretty boy came into sight looking like a damsel in distress.

But Jimin didn't know Jeongguk's whole story, like the fact that he had his heart broken so many times and that he was sick of using his body in exchange for information like most assassins do; how he wanted to find someone to live happily with them, away from the mess that was between the Order and their enemies. He wanted to get away from this life even though it was the only life he knew how to live but he was open to trying adapting to a new one if Taehyung would stay by his side to guide him.

Jeongguk turned back inside the apartment once Jimin was gone, welcomed by the adorable sight of Taehyung hugging his plushie tight as he hid under the blanket. A wide smile spread across the younger's face as he tried to bite down on his bottom lip to try and keep a serious face but failing as the older frowned, pouting at him.

'What happened? Why are you smiling like that?' He kicked off the blanket but still hugged the plushie.

'You're just too cute.' He replied, making his way towards the older and kissing his forehead once he got in front of him, watching as Taehyung scrunched up his face, faking annoyance. 'It was my novice. My Master needs to see me, so I'll have to go for a bit, okay?' He sat next to Taehyung who started pouting as he leaned against the younger's side, resting his head on Jeongguk's shoulder.

'Okay.' He replied shortly with a soft and sad voice.

'I'm sorry. I promise it won't take long.' Jeongguk turned to place a firm kiss on the older's lips, making his eyes flutter at the contact.

Without wasting any more time, the younger got up after kissing his lover goodbye for the time being and headed to the door, leaving Taehyung alone to watch his anime.

Jeongguk's mind was filled with so many worries. He knew something was wrong and he was one hundred percent sure that it had to do with him and Taehyung but how could the Master have found out about their relationship if Jeongguk himself didn't give him a reason?

At least, that was what Jeongguk thought but Yoongi knew better than anyone what his assassins were capable of doing and how they execute their missions. He knew how quick the younger acted when it came to retrieving vital information, so to have him take this long to find a few names made the Master suspicious, especially when Jimin told him about his collapsing incident when he found him unconscious at the ball.

The whole walk to Yoongi's office, Jeongguk tried to come up with acceptable excuses as to why it took him so long when the Master told him to use anything at hand that would make the prisoner talk, regardless if it would be painful or not.

But for the first time in his life, he disobeyed and took pity on the prisoner to let him talk when he felt ready, something the younger never did. But ever since they met, Jeongguk's flashbacks lessened and he took that as a good sign to keep the older around him. And if being with Taehyung would stop the painful memories from coming back, then that's what he'll do, even if it meant leaving the Order. He'll learn to live like a normal human being again with the gorgeous blond male by his side.

He knocked on the Master's door three consecutive times before he entered to find Yoongi at his desk, buried in a mountain of papers. Jeongguk waited patiently for the other's command as he watched him arrange the files on the shelf behind him.

'Jeongguk.' Yoongi said, his back facing the younger as he checked the file names to make sure they were in alphabetical order.

'Yes, Master? I heard you were looking for me.' Jeongguk took a step forward, his arms behind his back.

'You heard right. I want to talk to you about something important.' Yoongi turned around, his eyes narrowed as he watched Jeongguk gulp the lump in his throat. He nodded and the Master continued. 'It's about prisoner Kim Taehyung.' Jeongguk winced internally at that term again.

'Yes, sir.' He nodded, the anxiety slowly taking over him. His heart was beating fast and the room felt a little hotter, the air thick as he waited for the Master's next words that seemed to never leave his mouth.
