Chapter 0 Rook Starrick

*gasp* NEW STARSET SONG!!!!!

Here it is. This book will have very slow updates (yes slower than all other ones). I'm writing it all in a notebook because that's where I started writing it. I don't want a half-filled notebook. So, here it goes. There will be other chapters for Rook don't you worry. This one is just kind of setting up for the first chapter that I wrote. ;) Enjoy!

"Rogue wave to larboard!" one of the crew shouted. I couldn't tell who.

I pulled on the wheel with all of my weight. The Night's Jewel turned to the left. I grunted as I pulled the wheel straight when we faced the rogue wave full on.

"BRACE!" Archer shouted at my side.

I crouched behind the wheel and held on tightly. There was a loud crack from the direction of the bowsprit, which jerked over the top of the wave and pointed toward the sky. The deck was sloped so steeply that only the sturdiness of the things everyone was holding onto was keeping them on board.

The deck of the ship pitched forward as the ship crested the wave. With a jolt, the prow landed back in the water, knocking a board loose and flinging it into the air. Archer thrust a hand toward the board and it exploded into flame, turning to ashes before it touched the deck.

I spun the wheel again, pointing us back toward the island Archer needed to go to. The rain falling and the waves of water pouring over the deck didn't bother me, it was the heavy wind that prevented us from going fast that drove me crazy. I could see the large island whenever lightning flashed in the sky. It wasn't that far off.

"Bit of flotsam there Cap'n!" someone shouted. "Looks like a survivor!"

"Haul him aboard!" Archer ordered, his eyes locked on the island. "Warm him up as well!"

   "Aye Cap'n!"

The crew scrambled to get the person out of the water. I focused on not making us capsize. I glanced back at the deck to see three of the crew pull a soaking person onto the deck and start helping them toward the cabins.

"Watch the prow!" Cooper's voice said from behind me. "You're going to crash."

That caught my attention fast. I looked up and saw that he was right. I spun the wheel. "Furl the sails! Drop the anchor!" I shouted.

The crew started running around to do what I had ordered. The sails flapped in the wind as they were pulled up and ropes made whiplike cracking sounds. The Night's Jewel slowed to a stop after the anchor splashed into the ocean.

Archer looked up at the sky, checking all directions. "This storm won't clear up anytime soon. If I'm not back when it stops, you better leave without me."

I looked at him in dismay. "What? Archer, I can't! You're the captain!"

Archer put a hand on my shoulder. "Blackbird, you're just as much a captain as me. If I find the ship when I come back and there's no storm I will not be impressed."

I wanted to object but knew Archer would ignore it. "Why can't I go with you?"

"You have a different mission, remember?"

"Fine. But I don't have to think this is a good plan."

Archer nodded and smiled a little. "I know. You don't like very many plans do you?"

"Not any that include you leaving to do something fun without me."

Archer pulled me into a hug. "Your version of fun is really messed up sometimes."

I smiled and hugged him back. "I know it is."

He pulled away and looked out toward the island we'd almost crashed into. "I'll see you later, Blackbird."

I watched as he ran down the deck and along the bowsprit. He leaped off of the end, rolling when he hit the sand of the beach. I sighed and hoped I wouldn't have to leave him behind.

"Rest up if you need lads!" I shouted. "We leave when the storm clears!"

So many books are being started in this mind of mine. You can blame my muse, Archer, Rook, Moleck, Tanya, and Arno for this unstoppable story.

May the speed force be with you!
