finding the path.

No one pov.

Ratonhnhaké:ton and Dyami:ton had left the valley walking through the early spring weather. The sun shown brightly on the worn out path, game was very bountiful but skittish. Ratonhnhaké:ton was deep in thought as they walked. Dyami:ton was fascinated enough by the new land despite it looking just like the valley. The few patrols of British soldiers never truly bothered them only of to shoot a few slurs or ask about good game upon the land. Mostly it was to ask how much it cost to get a guide like Ratonhnhaké:ton. As they walked even more stopping occasionally to get water from a nearby stream Dyami:ton noticed how his brother looked more and more concerned. "Whats wrong brother?"

"I feel worried." Ratonhnhaké:ton spoke as his brother looked over. The darkened expression on his face said it all. "What if we are unable to do this? What of we fail?"

"Then we get up and try again." Dyami:ton said stopping his brother with a hand on his shoulder. "We may fall. We may stumble. We may get lost. But we will not be stopped." He stated as Ratonhnhaké:ton gained a small smile. "Now let's go. I think it's just past that-"

"GET OUT OF THE WAY!" The sound of galloping was heard as hooves beat the ground. Ratonhnhaké:ton pushed his brother out of the way as 3 men riding horses flew past. Both stared as this happened.

"Well I guess we aren't the only o es seeking training." Dyami:ton stated standing up while brushing himself off. Ratonhnhaké:ton started sprinting after as his brother rushed to catch up. After about half a mile or so they came upon a cliff over looking a small valley next to the ocean. The trees were high and above it all just barely visible was a large red stoned build made of materials foreign to the bothers.

"We must get there quickly." Ratonhnhaké:ton said before running along a log and jumping off. Dyami:ton rushed forward and watched as his brother jumped out of a pile of leaves and branches.

"YOURE GOING TO GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK!" Dyami:ton cried before following suit. As he landed he grunted crawling out already seeing Ratonhnhaké:ton make his way through the woods. They found a path through as more game crossed their path. As they continued they saw 2 men arguing about something next to a bridge.

The brothers ignored them as they got into what the difference was between a confederate and a tribe. They kept walking as the sun shown through the leaves. Though it wasn't a long walk it was still breath-taking. "This is a very bountiful area. I hope we succeed here." Ratonhnhaké:ton breathed as the 2 came upon the manor. Dyami:ton let his brother take the lead who went up and knocked on the door. Twice he knocked before the door swung open rudely to reveal a hunched over old dark skin man with a cane.

"What?" He asked boorishly to Ratonhnhaké:ton not noticing his brother.

"Uh. We.. we were told you could train us?" Ratonhnhaké:ton stammered caught off guard. The old man's eyes looked back and forth scowling Slightly at Dyami:ton before shaking his head.

"No." He then closed the door solemnly. Ratonhnhaké:ton started to bang on the door. "Go away!"

"We're not being deterred!" Dyami:ton shouted before not getting any response. "Come on let's find a place to camp. It's almost night." Ratonhnhaké:ton nodded grumbling under his breathe.

"I will be back old man." The 2 Brothers went around the front door to find a stables with many empty stalls. They set up on the other ends of the stall and lay down not bothering to use the blankets due to the warm spring weather to keep them warm. Ratonhnhaké:ton pulled out some dried meat tossing a bit to his brother who caught it.

"Did something seem off about him?" Dyami:ton asked as he bit into the meat.

"Yes as if he was hiding something."

"No when he looked at me his gaze turned sour as if just eaten rotten meat." The younger brother explained as Ratonhnhaké:ton rubbed his chin. "It's probably nothing."

"Get some sleep we'll try again tomorrow." Ratonhnhaké:ton said as the light slowly faded.

The next morning the 2 woke and approached the manor again. Dyami:ton stood off to the side as Ratonhnhaké:ton knocked again and again getting no reply. Dyami:ton chuckled slightly as he kept knocking.

"There must be another way in." Ratonhnhaké:ton stated and went around towards the back as his brother motioned for him to go around back.

"I fear we shall be here for a good while." Dyami:ton said as he followed his brother. A sigh escaped his mouth as he watched his brother continue to be polite.

"Please all I ask is a moment-" Ratonhnhaké:ton started into the air as a window from the second floor opened.

The old man looked out. "I apologize if I have been unclear, or otherwise confused you with my words." His voice dripped with irritation. "It was never my intention to mislead. So let me try to clarify, GET THE HELL OFF MY LAND!" The man slammed the window shut before another word could be spoken. Ratonhnhaké:ton glared slightly before yelling loudly.

"I'M COMING UP!" Dyami:ton chuckled as he heard this and followed his brother up to the second floor of the red stone hut as his brother started to mess with the door.

"Ratonhnhaké:ton, the man obviously wants us to leave him in peace for the day. Let's come back tomorrow after we hunt for the day. Our meat is low." Dyami:ton tried to calm his upset brother.

"JUST HEAR US OUT!" Ratonhnhaké:ton cried. "WHAT ARE YOU SO AFRAID OF?!"The door flew open as the old man hobbled out enraged.

"Afraid? You think I am afraid of anything, least of all, self-important scabs like you? Listen to your brother and leave!" He used his cane to trip Ratonhnhaké:ton and land him on his back before pointing his cane at him. "Oh, you dream of being a hero. Of riding to rescue, of saving the world, but stay this course and the only thing you're gonna be is dead." He then started to hobble away. "The world's moved on boy, best the both of you do too." Ratonhnhaké:ton stared as the old man left. Dyami:ton held out his hand to help his brother up.

"We are not leaving!" Ratonhnhaké:ton stated loudly as he was pulled up. "Do you hear me? We are never leaving." The 2 brothers left as Ratonhnhaké:ton mumbled something under his breathe. Dyami:ton sighed.

"Brother, we must be patience and learn how to convince him." The younger brother tried as the approached the stables again.

"He will train us. He has too." Ratonhnhaké:ton snapped at Dyami:ton who looked unfazed.

"You can not hasten the time of spring just as you can not slow the coming of winter. You can not command stone to grow a tree. You must be patience." Dyami:ton told his brother who sighed as they both sat down on the ground of the stables.

"How else are we to save our people if we do not learn?" Ratonhnhaké:ton argued as he laid his head against the wall opposite of his brother.

"A solution will come along. We must be calm enough to see it. Do not let your anger take you to action. Only reason." Dyami:ton looked out to the still bright day. "I saw some deer yesterday. I shall go get us some more food while you stay here. I shall follow you on this path, but I need you to be focused on the goal. Not how to get there." He then left to go hunt as Ratonhnhaké:ton sighed in frustration.

Late in the evening Dyami:ton returned with a pelt and meat. He set it up in another stable stall to dry before returning to Ratonhnhaké:ton. "It's going to rain." His brother said nothing as they laid down.

Later that night. Thunder struck as rain pelted the stables. The brothers slept soundly dreaming of dreams that made no sense.

2 men in leather coats and hats arguing about something appeared from the darkness. "He's a square foot."

"Last time you said that, I ended up with a dead orse and a black eye." The 2 brothers woke up and listened before nodding. They approached from behind and said nothing before Ratonhnhaké:ton spoke.

"What are you doing here?"

"Ain't none your business. Ow bout you cut off before we help ya." One of the men threatened. Dyami:ton started to glare before getting into a fighting stance. His brother followed suit. As they launched into a fist fight a plethora of men appeared. The 2 brothers got back to back as they blocked punches. Ratonhnhaké:ton was quick but lethal with his attacks disabling their attackers as Dyami:ton was brutal, breaking arms and bones with loud cracks. In the end, 12 men lay around them groaning in pain before Dyami:ton was blindside by a large bulking man. Ratonhnhaké:ton charged the man tackling him as he landed multiple punches to his chest. Standing up he went to check on his fallen brother before being hit to the ground and held there at club point by a new large man.

"You 2 workin for the old man then? That it?" Ratonhnhaké:ton saw a man hobble outside in the shadows as the man above him had his neck sliced open. The old man from before tossed him to the side as he looked down at Ratonhnhaké:ton. Dyami:ton groaned, getting up as he saw the scene. His brother was helped from the ground as he got to his knees.

"Clean this up." The old man said as Ratonhnhaké:ton grabbed the legs of the dead man. "Then I suppose we should talk." The boys nodded taking care of the men before washing off in the rain.
