"Monty, have you seen Violet or Klaus?" You ask him, waiting patiently for him to answer.
Monty shook his head as he placed a snake back into her cage, "No. Now that I think about it. I haven't seen them since breakfast."
"I checked everywhere and I can't seem to find them."
"You checked their rooms, right?"
"Yes."
"Well check Violet's room again. Maybe she made another invention and her blueprints are out."
"Why would-" you cut yourself off, "Oh."
You went back up the stairs, hoping that Violet wouldn't let her brother test the invention. You knocked on her door just to make sure that she wasn't in there. You didn't want to barge in.
"Violet?" You asked, waiting for an answer.
When you heard nothing, you opened the door. You scanned the room, searching for anything to stand out.
The sketch of the invention stood out to you. You could tell it's the most recent one because of the fresh graphite marks. You didn't really understand the drawing, but you knew it had something to do with outside.
You rushed out the door of Violet's room, and headed for the back door. You only hoped that Klaus wouldn't get hurt.
Once you reached the backyard, you couldn't contain your gasp.
"Klaus whatever your middle name is Baudelaire! You get down from there, this instant!" You shouted at him from the ground.
Klaus turned his head at the sound of your voice, smiling in your direction. You could only roll your eyes as Sunny laughed besides Violet.
"Violet! What on earth do you think you're doing? Klaus is up on the roof! He could fall at any moment!"
"I just-"
Klaus cut Violet off by shouting back. "I'll be fine. I won't fall."
"Yes. You will. Now get down from there!"
Klaus sighed, looking at Violet for confirmation.
Violet nodded in disappointment, "Klaus, you can get down now."
Klaus moved slowly across the roof. He was close to the window, but he slipped. Luckily, he caught himself.
You gasped, "Careful!"
Klaus, thinking he would be funny, saluted in your direction. Only to start to slip off the roof. Realizing his mistake, he tried to catch himself but failed to do so in time.
You ran to Klaus as he collapsed on to the ground.
"Klaus!"
He groaned in pain, wincing when he tried to move his ankle.
"I told you. You were going to fall! But you didn't listen." You shook your head.
Violet hugged Klaus, muttering to him, "I'm so so sorry, Klaus. I shouldn't have told you to go up there. It's my fault. I'm sorry."
Monty arrived outside, hearing the commotion. Looking between Klaus, Violet, Sunny, and I, he moved me out of the way to inspect Klaus' ankle.
"It appears to be broken. I told you not to do something dangerous."
You looked at Klaus and muttered a 'I told you so' under your breath.
•
You sat next to Klaus, who was resting his ankle. You could only roll your eyes at the situation. You told them to be careful.
You glanced at Klaus, catching his eye you spoke, "I told you so"
Klaus rolled his eyes, "I was being cautious."
"Yet you fell. Now you're stuck on a bed. Who's fault is that?"
"Mine. At least I get to spend more time with you."
You stood up, and crossed your arms, smirking at Klaus, "Who says I'm staying with you?"
"Me." Klaus said, trying to grab your arm to pull you down.
You took a step back to avoid his hand.
"Please?" Klaus asked.
You stopped yourself from rolling your eyes. "Nope."
"For me?" Klaus pleaded.
You laughed, "Fine. But only for you."
