Conner: For some of that you are correct, but it is more complicated than that. Listen closely.

Conner: our host, were all born with only two sides, unlike the usual four. This posed many problems. Reed was never happy, because he only had Logic and Anxiety; Nick did bad in all of his classes, lacking Logic and an Ego to fend off bullies; and Jason had no reasoning, because he lacked Logic and Anxiety.

It was obvious the sides needed to fix this, so they tried to act more like the sides that were missing. But, this didn't work. 

Something happened though, since these sides were not as stable as other sides, due to there not being enough sides in the host, they could take a part of themselves off, and fuse it with a part of another side. 

Conner: That's what led to me, the first side kid, to be created. Nick's anxiety and Reed's Logic combined into me. I was an experiment, that turned out perfectly. I could chose which host I had, and help Reed live as he does now. 

This caused the original sides to eventually fade away after they created Umber, the last side. That was long ago, twelve years in fact, but they were kind people. They payed the ultimate sacrifice for their host to be mentally healthy, something we all admire. 

They are our heroes.
