~My Agender Identity~

PepperRavenBat Asked:

It actually started very early on in my life, but I didn't realize it until the present!

As a girl, my favorite color was orange when I was very young.  I downright HATED Pink, Purple, and all of those other colors that people labeled as "girl colors".  They just didn't appeal to me.  I also wasn't the biggest fan of makeup, lipstick, and all of those other things that girls were stereotyped to like.

In kindergarten, every girl's favorite thing was the same thing: PRINCESSES.  ESPECIALLY Disney ones.  Don't get me wrong, I love those films.  But not as much as I loved OCTONAUTS.  I was OBSESSED with that series in kindergarten.  And hey, it wasn't really the "girly" thing.  It was full of action, adventure, and amazing stunts.  Dashi was DEFINITELY my favorite character, and she showed me that girl's don't have to be elegant and graceful.   They can be daring and adventurous too.

I started to become obsessed with NINJAGO in 3rd Grade, MIXELS In 4th Grade, and NEXO Knights In 5th Grade, and, as you know, those aren't the "Girliest" LEGO Lines.  They were supposed to appeal more to boys, while "LEGO Friends" was for the girls.  I kind of worried inside of those grades about "are girls ALLOWED to like these toy lines?", "are these toy lines ONLY for boys?", and "can I keep enjoying these toy lines, even though their target audience is for boys?"  But hey, I kept on loving those toy lines, and enjoying every single episode of their TV series!!!

Petra from Minecraft:Story Mode played a GINORMOUS role in me discovering my Agender identity.  Everything about her: her can-do, warrior attitude, to her short haircut, to the fact that she was the ONLY female in the series that DOESN'T wear lipstick, really spoke to me in a different way.  That I can be the person I want to be.  That I can be like Petra.  I can be a girl, but I can be tough.  But can I?  Boys were supposed to be the tough ones, and girls the elegant ones.  But look at Petra!  This is where I was a little dazed.  Am I a boy?  Am I a girl?

A few months later, I decided that I didn't want to be considered a boy or a girl, so that I could be tough, strong, and a warrior-like person, without having to worry about what I identify as.  I labeled myself as "Androgynous", and it was a year later that I discovered that "Androgynous" means you consider yourself a boy AND a girl, not neither.  I did a bit more research, and I found out that "Non-Binary" means that you don't consider yourself a boy or girl.

A few days ago, I did some more research, and found out that "Non-Binary" is actually an umbrella term for people that don't fell like the fit within the two binary genders.  So, I had to be a bit more specific.  After a couple more minutes of research, I came out with the term "Agender", which is the ultimate definition of "not considering oneself a boy or girl."

So yeah!  That's how I formed my Agender Identity!  Thank You For Reading, and don't be afraid to ask more questions!
