What is the one genre or story plot which you are intrigued to write but held up for some reason by bangtanrewinds

I'm interested in creating a complex and detailed fantasy story. I have always been fascinated about how authors such as J.K Rowling and Rick Riordan have come up with their own worlds using their vivid imagination and the fact that those worlds seem so elaborated, is what makes us feel as if it could be a real world that exists rather it being a product of an author's imagination.

Therefore, following their example, I would like to create a diverse fantasy world with my own rules and laws on how the mythical creatures and magical people behave. For example, in Harry Potter they are wizards who can speak Parsel Tongue (the language of serpents) but this rare ability is genetic and could only be inherited from the family tree and it can't be taught to someone else. Similarly, there are wizards known as Squibs who are indeed magical beings but their powers have not yet been discovered or rather they're taking longer time than necessary to reveal themselves.

It's amazing, isn't it? How such authors seem to be the boss of their own world and has absolute power over all such magical beings. Well, that's the beauty of being an author. Whenever you get fed up with the real world, you can create your world and seek comfort from it or even allow other people to seek comfort from it as well.

However, I believe that if I were to start concocting a story like that, I would need tons of spare time in order to deeply think about the story and create my alternate reality. If needed, I would even have to do months worth of extensive research to learn about how certain mythical creatures behave and even if I were to create my original mythical creature or magical being, I'd still have to do research in order to make it seem realistic as possible and to show the reader that it's not just some random character but it has its own rules of nature that it must follow.

Apart from the research, I would also have to pay attention to every tiny single detail because even a small omission of a trivial detail could end up making a huge impact on the story. For example, if I have some random creature who gets the power of flight only during full moon nights, I have to be careful to make sure that I don't write any scenes where the creature flies across the sky on a moonless night and I also have to remember that whenever the creature is to take flight, I'd have to mention somewhere in the chapter prior to that scene, that it was in fact a full moon night because otherwise it would end up raising a whole lot of confusion amongst the readers and of course, a whole lot of unwanted plot holes.

And on top of that, I've seen many authors that includes myself, who tends to gets stuck within the boundaries of the same rules which they've created. For further elaboration, let's take the same flying creature example. Say in order for the story to get a happy ending or to fulfill its purpose, the creature has to fly to achieve its goals in that chapter but its not a full moon night and its inevitably unable to do just that. That causes the author to try and make his mind to do an 180 twist in order to think of another way for the creature to achieve its goal without flying.

For some writers, thinking of an alternate solution to a problem can seem like a piece of cake whereas for others it will be a struggle on a whole different level. It all comes down to the intensity of the rules that they have created for their fantasy world. 

So, yeah, in order to avoid plot holes and to come up with a detailed world, I'd need a lot of time of which I don't have much these days, unfortunately.... 

But hopefully I might get more free time in the future and by then I'd love to just take some moments to sit down and think about what kind of a world my already over-active imagination can come up with and nothing would bring me any greater pleasure than sharing it with all of you as soon as I'm done creating it. :)
