I recently haven't been playing as many video games as I have in the past. I've been more focused on my career and martial arts training. Over the years however, the games that I seem to always come back to are Borderlands 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Overwatch.

Borderlands 2 is a comedic masterpiece and extremely fun to play. I've completed the game at least two dozen times. After a while though it gets repetitive and I end up abandoning it for a while. But it's always ready for me whenever I want to pick it up again, and to this day remains one of my favorites. My personal favorite character from the game is Brick, and my favorite of the playable characters is the Gunzerker, when wielding a Double Penetrating Unkempt Harold and Miss Moxxi's Grog Nozzle, he is unstoppable. I cannot wait for Borderlands 3.

Horizon Zero Dawn is another game I never seem to get tired of. Maybe it's because of it's amazing story line or perhaps because of the incredible game play. And then Overwatch is just my standard MMO, but it can get really annoying when the other players don't take the game seriously. Nil is my favorite character from HZD, and I love Reinhardt from Overwatch.

My all time favorite game however, is, and forever shall be The Last of Us. It has an incredible narrative and makes me feel for the characters in a way no other game has managed. The graphics are insanely good and Troy and Ashley's voice acting is impeccable. The game play itself is pretty standard, but the narrative brings it to a whole other level. I really feel like I have to search every nook and cranny to find as much as I can, and conserving ammo is a real aspect of the game. I also love getting into the game and investing myself in the story, even though I know how it ultimately ends. I often find myself screaming "Ellie!" in Joel's voice just for the hell of it. Even more than the narrative and game play is the incredible soundtrack. Gustav is an artistic genius. The music so amazingly captures the feeling and emotions of the story in a unique and incredible style I have never heard the likes of. Unlike Borderlands and Horizon, I never seem to get tired of this game. I can finish it and immediately feel ready to go another round. Words cannot do this game justice. It somehow has me so invested in a way I've never felt with any other game before.

I love the dynamic between Joel and Ellie and seeing their relationship evolve. Despite this, I wouldn't say either of them are my favorite character. I think Joel without Ellie or Ellie without Joel is like a melody with no harmony. I have to have both. They play off each other, and when one is gone it just feels lacking. I'd say Maria (Tommy's wife) is my favorite character. She's an extremely strong and capable, not to mention badass woman, with a strong sense of family. Tess is great too, but I really relate to Maria's duty to her family.
