The doctors noticed that Faina has been looking down. She'd wander around her chamber for a bit then slump down in the northeast corner. During questions, she'd be less intested. When asked why, she'd change the subject. The doctors didn't know what to do.

One day, as they were observing, the doctors heard something come into the room. They turned and saw SCP 999 wander around, and made giggle noises when it saw them. The doctors looked at Fauna, then at 999, then got an idea.

Fauna heard the cell door open. She looked up to see an orange blob moving towards her, making gurgles and other noises.
"What are you?", Fauna said. The creature crawled up to her and crawled up to her shoulder. Fauna smiled a small, sad, smile.
"You're not dangerous, are you?"
Fauna asked, getting a nod.

The two SCPs played for a bit, then SCP 999 was taken away, and Fauna was left alone again.

"Okay.", Doctor **** said, pulling out a tiny recorder from 999 and gave it some candy as a reward. He walked up to the computer and put in the chip.

"What are you?"

"You are not dangerous, are you?"

"Heh, you're kinda cute."

"Hm? Oh. Yes, I have been down."

"Well you see, I miss my lover, they're all the way in a forest, a forest that's northeast; which's why I stay there."

"I do love them, dearly."

"Sure."

Soft laughing could be heard.

"Alright. Goodbye"

The recording ended.

"A mate.", Doctor *** said.
"I wonder who it might be."
"Could he be like her, a Death's Child?", Doctor ***** asked.
"Most likely. Let's go.", Doctor *** said.
