Pat: His mother was a daydreamer and it passed to him as she started getting older

Paul: His father was reoccurring dreams and it passed to him when he died

Mostly it's one of the parents or grandparents that made it happen

But with Laurel, she was adopted instead which caused her not to get a affect by dreams. But if her 'parents' die, then the dream will more likely pass to her. Which is realistic dreams or nightmares (because the father was nightmares and also the father of Tord but ended up leaving him cause he wanted a daughter who wasn't a dream, not a son who was.)
