02: Bound by a common enemy and a web of deceit

"Bound by a common enemy and a web of deceit. The path to trusting the person you doubt the most.

Olivia managed to pull herself off of her chair and headed to the kitchenette that was located just to the left of the bullpen. She needed a coffee. Especially if she was going to have to deal with Jimmy.

As she made it to the kitchenette she began to make her drink, Melissa approached her with a smile. Olivia turned to face the girl and pulled her in for an embrace.

"God, it's so good to have you back Liv." Melissa said, squeezing her friend gently. Olivia felt comforted by Melissa's hug.

"Thank you Lissa. Not everyone has been so accepting." Olivia said with a tight smile. Melissa let out a small laugh.

"Jimmy will be fine. You know how he can be." Melissa said.

Olivia had only worked with Jimmy for three weeks before she had been sent off for her operation, and they didn't really communicate often.

"Yeah well, I better get on the same page with him. Taking down this cartel is more important than my personal issues with Jim bob." Olivia said rolling her eyes. "Anyway, how's things with you? Are you still with Damien?"

"Yeah, we're actually heading out with Mani and Roman tonight. You should come!" Melissa said. Olivia slightly scrunched her nose.

"And be a fifth wheel?" Olivia asked with a smirk. Melissa slapped Olivia lightly on the arm.

"Please, if anyone is going to be a fifth wheel, it's my husband." Melissa joked. Olivia thought for a moment before she nodded.

"Okay, I'll join you. Just give me the address and a time and I'll be there."

Jimmy was sat in the bar with his twin brother, Jey and his sister in law, Melody. Jimmy had his head balancing on one of his arms and he swirled his glass around. Melody, sat comfortably with Jeys hand around her shoulders, looking at Jimmy.

"You gotta understand that Roman hasn't done this to punish you Jim." Melody said, taking a sip of her wine. Jimmy rolled his eyes and took a deep breath before leaning back in his seat.

"It feels like it."

"He's just thinking about the take down. It's a huge opportunity and you and Liv are the best options." Melody explained. Jimmy sat in silence for a few minutes before he grunted.

"Yeah you're right."

"Of course she's right bro, you're taking this way to personal." Jey added. Jimmy bit his bottom lip and looked off towards the bar where he saw Olivia, Melissa, Roman, Armani and Damien stood.

"Can't they find somewhere else to drink?" Jimmy asked causing the married couple across from him to look in their direction.

"It's the local bar for most people in the FBI Jimmy." Melody said, getting slightly agitated. "Get a grip man."

Jimmy scowled slightly at his sister in law before shaking his head. He downed his drink and thought to himself about how he was going to cope being in a confined space with Olivia.

He doesn't understand how someone could keep such a secret that ruined a whole operation, but he gave up trying to understand Olivia a long time ago.

The next morning Jimmy was waiting at the round table for Olivia to show up. She was 15 minutes late. A few more minutes of waiting, she finally made her appearance.

"It's about time." Jimmy commented. Olivia decided to ignore his comment and placed her bag on the table pulling out sheets of paper.

"Alright, so we're going undercover as a power couple in the drug world," Olivia began, writing down some notes. "But we need to be careful with who we trust."

Jimmy grunted in agreement, his gaze never leaving his former partner. "Do we have to act like we're in love? For the sake of my stomach, please say no."

Olivia rolled her eyes. "For the sake of the mission, yes."

Jimmy's lips curled into a wry smile. "Try not to fall in love with me."

Olivia snorted. "Right, because you're so charming. The Sefina cartel is ruthless. If they find out we're not who we say we are, it's game over."

Jimmy nodded, his expression serious for the first time since they arrived. "I know. But I still don't trust you."

Olivia shook her head. "Trust me or not, that's your decision but we're going to be treading in dangerous waters. Make the wrong choice and it's your funeral."

Jimmy's jaw tightened.

Olivia cut him off before he respond. "And if you screw this up, I'll make sure you pay for it."

Jimmy's eyes narrowed. "And if you screw this up?"

Olivia smirked. "Then I'll make sure you pay for it, too."

"Alright, let's get down to business, how did Olive and Jon meet?" Jimmy said, breaking the heavy silence. "We need to come up with a backstory. Something that makes sense, but also gives us an excuse to be together." Olivia leaned back in her chair, her mind racing, Jimmy's too. "Oh wait I know, at a barbecue."

Olivia rolled her eyes. "That's lame."

Jimmy gave her a deadpan look. "Really? You think you can do better?"

Olivia's lips curled into a smile. "Watch me." Olivia cleared her throat before shifting in her seat. "Okay so, um.. you were on the run from the cops, a drug deal gone wrong. You ended up in my building, frantic and looking for a place to hide and.." Olivia locked her eyes onto Jimmy's. "And I opened the door for you. I lied to the cops for you.."

Jimmy leaned back in his chair, curious of where this was going.

"It's got me so hot that we hooked up, whilst they were still searching the building." Olivia finished.

Jimmys mouth was slightly parted, his tongue grazing his lips gently. "Okay, that was pretty good.. actually."

"So, my version.. or yours?"

"I guess, you know better.. so yours." Jimmy answered which earned him a smug laugh from Olivia. Jimmy thought for a moment before he approached his next topic. "So, I think we need to address the elephant in the room."

"What elephant?" Olivia asked with confusion. Jimmy nodded his head in hopes she would understand what he meant, but she didn't quite catch on.

"If we're gonna sell that.. we're actually boyfriend and girlfriend, then we might have to uh.." Jimmy trailed off. Olivia caught his drift but wanted to get him to admit it. "You know.."

"Have to what?"

"We might have to.. to.." Jimmy felt a little bit awkward but the moment he saw Olivia couldn't hold back her laughter, he rolled his eyes. "You know what, forget it."

"No, I know. We might have to kiss." She said with another laugh. "But you're right. If we're gonna have to kiss, it probably shouldn't be for the first time."

Jimmy and Olivia shared a glance of nerves and slight disgust. Olivia stood up and straightened out her clothes before Jimmy followed and standing in front of her. She couldn't help but let out a snigger, before turning away from Jimmy quickly.

"Oh come on, we're professionals."

"Wow, that's romantic." Olivia responded as she turned back to face him.

"I'm not trying to be romantic." Jimmy glared.

"Well you're succeeding." She said before looking into his eyes. Jimmy leaned in gently and placed a peck on her lips, as he pulled back, he had a look of smugness on his face.

Olivia stumbled slightly over her words. "I'm sorry, is that it?"

"Look, if you're gonna criticise-"

Olivia cut him off by grabbing his face and pulling his lips to hers. It had caught him off guard but eventually his hands found her waist and their lips moved in unison.

Before any of them got too invested, the door opened and broke them apart.

"Oh.." The voice was fellow agent, Finn Balor, his Irish accent very distinctive. "Should I leave?"

The pair turned to him, a bundle of excuses leaving their lips.

"This is work." Olivia said, pointing to Jimmy. It couldn't have been worse timing. Before Olivia has left for her last undercover, she had been on a few dates and even slept with Finn. She really likes him until she was off on her next mission.

"We're going undercover." Jimmy said stuffing his hands in his pockets.

"I think I should go-" Finn started but Jimmy cut him off.

"Actually, I was just about to leave so.." Jimmy grabbed his jacket before exiting the room.
