02 | Keep the secrets well
Chapter two
The rays of the morning sun sipped in through the window, reflecting a nice yellow color inside the room. Jungkook stirred in his sleep, the blinding light made him blink a few times. He squinted his eyes open and looked around his new surroundings, not recognizing the place he was staying in. The sweet scent of strawberries was flying in the air and the events from the previous night came back with the force of a ten-horse carriage.
His head suddenly felt ten times worse. He groaned, scrunching his eyes as his mind once again began its race for an explanation of the peculiar events which had occurred only a few hours earlier. How he'd even fallen asleep with all these thoughts bouncing around his skull was a mystery.
Jungkook tried to stand up, only to realize his legs and arms were tied up in a tight rope, preventing him from escaping. He huffed in annoyance, helplessly sitting on the floor in the corner of a cozy looking room, his back was leaning against the wall right behind him. The alpha gazed at the place he was locked in. It was much smaller than a pack house, so he assumed the omega lived isolated from the outside world, there was no lingering scent of another living being in the air, just strawberries and sweets.
The wood bin sat fully stocked and the crackling blaze on the hearth was the only thing that could be heard inside the silent cabin.
Jungkook squirmed in his seat, trying to free himself, miserably failing during the process. The ropes were too tight, rubbing against the skin so hard that it hurt. He looked down at himself, seeing that his own belongings were taken away, leaving him only with the clothes on.
"Crap!" The alpha cursed unceremoniously. Now his fate was indeed left in the hands of a complete stranger whose name and intentions he didn't know. Didn't the omega mention he would kill him if he dared stomp a foot in this territory? Great, the wolves in his pack would have a story to tell after they learn about the tragic death of the head alpha's son who was killed by an omega.
Jungkook had numerous of questions going on in his head. Who was the mysterious omega and how did he survive on his own in the middle of the woods? And the most important question was, how he managed to make Jungkook, a real alpha, submit so easily. Only his father had the power to put him in his place, not even the oldest wolves of the pack could handle his temper. And this seemingly weak and fragile boy knocked him down without any efforts. Jungkook didn't know how he ended up in this situation. The omega's order was everything he remembered before he blacked out and his memories turned into haze.
And just when he thought his state couldn't get any better, the door flied open and the same omega appeared in his sight. His floor-length robe, old and long since worn, trailed delicately behind him, bunching over the wooden floor and sparkling a brilliant blue and white.
"Oh...you are awake" The blonde-haired boy stated, eyebrows raised up in surprise. His voice was silk, deep and melodic, mimicking the soft glint in his eyes.
Just now Jungkook had the time to absorb the beauty this omega held. A magnificence that was unparalleled; a face that could launch a thousand ships, he thought, a face admired by many and envied by most.
"Can you stop staring? You are freaking me out." The omega's melodious voice pulled him out of his reverie, and he had to look down in embarrassment.
"Untie me, now!" Jungkook requested, feeling how his inner alpha was stirring within his walls, a boiling anger crept in his chest.
The omega seemed to be unaffected by the order, barely showing any signs of reaction, and Jungkook felt powerless. His mighty dominance and high rank suddenly became pointless, the particular reason for the circumstance was the boy's strong expression.
"I'm sorry to hurt your alpha pride, but you are in my home, so don't order me around." He spoke in a subtle confidence, mouth round on his vowels, drawing out the syllables in all right places. Jungkook refused to let himself shudder.
It was his first time seeing an omega resisting an alpha's command. To say he was surprised would be the biggest underestimation of the year. He had seen a lot of weird things in his young life, but this completely took the cake for weirdest moment so far. Lower ranks weren't supposed to disobey alphas. If they did, the process would be painful and, most likely, fruitless. It physically hurt them not to accept the order, blame it on the rank. That was why they had such a moronic system - if you were an alpha, then you were a leader. If you were a beta or omega, you should not ignore others' commands and put up with the rules made for you.
"Who are you? Why aren't you submitting to me?" Jungkook asked, a growl was present in his tone, but the omega kept stoic and unbothered. It was ironic, really. If it wasn't for the sweet scent and delicate frame, he would think of the boy as an alpha.
"Let's start with my questions, then I might answer yours as well." The omega suggested, head held high and back straight — posture perfect as ever — he sat around the hearth, moving with the grace of a dancer; an air of regality and authority twirling around him.
"You can't make me talk" Jungkook said grumpily, rolling his eyes at the boy's words.
"Yes, I can." The blonde boy declared in return, speaking in a firm, collected tone. He grabbed the metal stick placed on the right side of the fireplace and stirred the woods in the hearth, heating the fire. "What's your name and what are you doing here? You are a pack wolf and there aren't any packs around these territories."
Jungkook bit a spot on the inside of his lips where he'd worried a rather angry red welt, irritated and inflamed from the sharp point of his canine. His pride had fallen to the depths of his soul and was no longer playing a role in his decisions.
"My name is Jungkook and I'm searching for something..." He mumbled quietly, coming out as a whisper inside the room, but it was loud enough for the boy to hear him.
"So high up in the mountains? I wonder what it might be." The omega stated out a fact, catching him off guard. Jungkook didn't want to sound like a lunatic who believed in myths and old fairytales. He wasn't a pup anymore, but a brave soldier and soon to be a head alpha. The true blood was his only way out of the war.
"A wolf. I'm searching for a wolf. If you know anything, please say it. And if you don't, untie me and let me go so I can continue my journey" The alpha said, desperation lacing his tone. There was no point in trying to hide or lie anymore. In a way, it was a relief to finally have the opportunity to admit it. So, he did.
Like he wasn't sure what to say, the omega put the metal stick down and placed his hands in his lap, slightly turning around to have a look of the alpha's face. Jungkook didn't miss the very slight flinch he gave at his words, bottom lip snugging between his teeth.
"A wolf, you say..." The blonde boy rolled his lips to wet them as he searched the room for the next thing to say. "What kind of a wolf?" He then questioned, face and voice convincingly placid.
"A true blood." The words slapped both of them in the face. Jungkook regretted saying it. The omega looked devastated, in more than one way. Something indecipherable flicked across his face and his lips pressed into a thin line.
The boy's eyes rolled up to the ceiling and stayed there, like he was looking at someone or something for guidance – patience, strength. When he seemed to have found whatever he was needing up there, he dropped his chin and stared at the floor. "There is no such a thing. You are lying to yourself. Better go back to your pack and give up." he told, standing up to leave the room.
Jungkook caught the slight change in his scent, the sweet strawberries turning into sour, the omega's heartbeat skipped a few beats. 'He is lying' he thought as he watched him stood up, quickly searching for the next thing he was about to say.
"You are lying." The alpha argued back, causing the omega to stop in his track and turn around to look him in the eyes. There was a frown on his beautiful face, and the distress in these blue orbs was more than noticeable.
Jungkook couldn't just let him go. He no longer thought the omega was deranged, but at the same time none of this made the remotest bit of sense. How dare this stranger, walk into his life and drop a bomp after bomp after bomp, refuse to answer his questions, then saunter off, leaving Jungkook pick up the pieces?
For a few seconds, no one dared to say anything, the tension in the room increased rapidly and both males felt like there was something heavy placed on their chests – squeezing so hard to make you suffocate.
"I'm not." the omega said after a short pause, unclenching his fists. His stance remained stiff, though, giving the faux sense of confidence.
"Yes, you are!" Jungkook hadn't meant to yell, but his voice ended up echoing around the cabin, bouncing off the concrete walls. "You are hiding something! I can smell it in your scent."
Caught red handed, the boy's mouth ran dry. This was the furthest Jungkook had ever pushed him so far. He didn't want to feel the immediate urge to shut down and go on the defense, at least not yet.
A breath caught in the blonde's chest. His eyes cut to the window, not looking out but staring at the reflections in the surface.
"Out." He said a singular word like it should've meant something, but Jungkook didn't understand it. "I want you out of my house by tomorrow morning. And don't you dare to come back."
Without another word to Jungkook, he stormed out of the room, the loud slam of the door ringing in his ears.
And so the silence stretched until it was all there in the room, filling his body like a balloon about to fly away into the abyss.
